I get the sentiment. The vast majority of endgame people expect people to have functional and optimal gearswap and maintaining it on several jobs can be as time consuming as playing the game itself.

However, this looks like it would introduce as many new problems as ones it solves.

Also, I've tried everything in Maletaru's list many times, and only really relied on gearswap and anchor. The way the camera tends to go nuts when you're getting knocked around is infuriating. But the list is a great litmus test for how much you actually like playing the game. I had to eventually admit it was much less than I pretended.

But that's just for me, and certain others. it doesn't have to be your cup of tea. I'm not shitting on you, or anyone else.
Yeah it largely depends on the person and their circumstances: how old they are, RL commitments, other hobbies, how much time they spent on the game, how much time they actually love to keep spending on the game, their current status in the game (how much they've achieved, how much more they'd love to achieve), what they enjoy about the game, etc etc.

So I agree with both your and Maletaru's perspectives, since I think they can both be valid, depending on the person. And one person can go from one perspective to another depending on their goals and circumstances.

I DO know some players though that want the game to play itself for them without them even understanding basic concepts (like basic DPS formulas), and I honestly can't understand why they play this game to begin with (well, I kinda do. Some have an emotional connection, and for some this is the only game they've ever known, and they just treat it like a gear-collecting project & enjoy watching their characters "grow", even if they don't ever put them to any real use that requires 50% of the gear they collected - picture a figurine collection)
