Hey everyone!

I've ben sick and tired of keeping track on all the things to do in FFXI on either a daily, weekly or one-time basis, using either notepad or excel.

Therefore I've vibe coded a new web app with base44 for Final Fantasy XI players called FFXI Task Tracker:

A Google account login is required to handle your own tasks list. - Note: Other login options will be made availible tomorrow :)

Features:

• Personal cloud-saved task lists

• Daily / Weekly / One-Time task categories

• Subtasks and progression tracking

• Automaticly Generate a task list from a BG-Wiki url import!!!

• Set daily & weekly tasks to either manually or automaticly reset

• Undo/reset functionality

• Import/export task packs for easy sharing with other players.

• Mobile + desktop friendly UI

One of the coolest features is the ability to import checklist-style content directly from BG-Wiki pages.

Example:
You can import Assault mission lists from:
https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Category:Assault

…and it automatically turns it into trackable checklist entries.

The project is fully functional but still also in development, so I would really appreciate:

feature suggestions
UI ideas
PC & mobile device functionality / design.

The goal is to make this a genuinely useful companion tool for the FFXI community and rid the use of notepad and excel spreadsheets!

may I ask why you need to authenticate with google?

obvious answer is that they need a way to ID you so your progression can be saved and AI decided that was the easiest because it's all driven by big tech

Yep, correct :)

The login is mainly there so everyone can have their own personal task lists, progression tracking and saved data securely tied to their own account. Otherwise users would potentially be able to overwrite or interfere with each other’s tasks.

Right now Google login was simply the fastest and easiest solution to implement, since most people already have a Google account and it avoids having to manage passwords manually.

That said, I’m definitely considering adding alternative account options later, maybe even as early as tomorrow, if enough people would prefer that instead ?

it's not my jam anyway so my opinion shouldn't be taken too seriously, but google auth gives up your real name and google profile, which might make people uncomfortable. it's not that rare for people to want to keep their mmo identity seperate from their real one

Good point, ill implement the possibility to create a local login for the app tomorrow along with various other new features and small bug fixes :)

It will be a simple login creation with username, password and displayname.

Make sure the AI records IP addresses and in game names. You know, for posterity.

Instead of login you could also just have it be a UUID. If someone loses their URL link they're screwed, but generally avoids someone messing with your stuff and avoids you having to deal with username and password
