Hello all. I returned about a month ago after having not played seriously since 2018. I’ve dedicated my time and resources to getting SCH online with a decent healing/regen set so I can contribute to some group content but I mostly play solo/duo with a friend planning to level geo.

I recently took up BLU and have a few questions I can’t find answers to.

First off: NYAME set. I got a carry and have the base set. Is it better to focus one piece at a time or level them up evenly. Is there a rank I should aim to hit before moving to another piece?

Secondly, HTMB. Between myself and my buddy, we have a LOT of JSE to reforge. What kind of gear level should I be at before duo VD fights for chapters with trust support? I have base nyame, naegling, working on the TP sword now. I have my BLU neck+2. A smattering of ammo items for STP and a random assortment of earrings/rings some are BIS from what i see on the guides but I don’t have a “complete” BiS set for anything.

Lastly, Is BLU + GEO a solid setup for lowman? Would we get better results if he went SCH/BRD/COR/RDM?

We figured GEO provides ample support for melee and magic focused content and a decent amount of healing and status removal

We do not want to multi-box a bunch of accounts to achieve some success and we aren’t opposed to seeking groups when needed for higher content. He is starting fairly fresh with lots of story content to finish, I have finished ROV and started resurgence.

If you can get free RP it doesn't matter because you'll be done quick, but if you're limited, spread it across the pieces. You'll get a better increase for your character sooner if you RP multiple pieces past a certain rank vs just one. You can also hold off on RPing the body, head and legs if you like, as you can get the JSE empyrean head, af body and relic legs which all offer Weaponskill Damage. It's a relatively easy upgrade that will boost your damage a lot for lesser effort than spamming Bumbas. The Empyrean +3 head goes a long way on BLU, too, so there's no rush to rank Nyame head path B if you don't want to.

You can do it right now. The fights are all easy, and you can just wear Nyame 5/5, sleep adds, and kill one by one. Its incredibly easy now, go in and spank em.

BLU is a phenomenal solo job if you are geared and proficient with the job. I would say BLU+BRD can cover pretty much everything you need to accomplish. BRD can buff with songs, BLU can cap haste on his own, heal, DD, crowd control support if needed. BRD supports with crowd control. GEO would work too, kind of the same difference, unless the BRD is lacking song+ gear, GEO might get better attack buffs and can focus on healing more. I think both are a good combination. Even BLU+COR is great with rolls, you have options.

Welcome back! The REMs chapter 1-5 battlefields are thankfully pretty simple for the most part. If you have ambuscade gear you can probably handle those ones on VD (or even just brute forcing with that base Nyame since it gives you good defenses). Naegling Savage Blade will be able to chew through most enemies. A lot of them have mobs susceptible to sleep making taking them out one by one pretty straightforward. The chapter 6-10 fights hit a bit harder and have some more gimmicky fight options but the Avatar battlefields are pretty straightforward. Could have your pal sub /WHM for barspells to help damage mitigation since you usually only have to worry about mono-element in those fights. If VD hits too hard can always step down to D. Upcoming monthly campaign has bonus ultimate weapon upgrade stone drops in those fights so would give you guys some nice side stuff to sell too. :)

BLU is pretty solid for lowmanning stuff thanks to versatility of offensive, defensive, and sustainment options. GEO's always a great support to have along as well, and in a lowman having both buffs + debuffs from GEO can help offset lacking other players and jobs along for other buffs a bit. BRD and COR buffs are phenomenal and staple for a reason, but I think in a situation of just 2 players duo'ing with no multiboxxing, BLU + GEO and filling out rest with trusts would be my pick. EDIT (hit submit too soon): BRD is my other pick because it's a wonderful investment but can be pricey, with its HQ Song+ necklace and usually you reach a point where you want to make the leap to get the ultimate instruments. But it can be very solid even before going that far.

If you want to lowman content you're probably better of if you pick up RDM over BLU. RDM has a easier time to get into group content, too.

Ok, if he or I were to run RDM, what would be the ideal duo partner for it? Would sch closing sc and magic bursting be more valuable or more buffs via geo or cor?

Either is fine imo. BLU is more offensive and paired with geo can debilitate alot of mobs as you gear up or just do the classic fury/frail and go ham especially for content bubbles arent nerfed.

Rdm has better crowd control/debuffs but lacks a bit on offense, can also MB better since its not tied to a 2min timer for when thats useful.

Whatever youre lowmanning, youd probably fare better with an actual DD over GEO. If youre against that for whatever reason, you would get much better mileage with BRD over GEO.
