As the title suggests, I'm curious to know what everyone's favorite PERMA weapon is and why? It can be a so-called BiS weapon. Or it can be your favorite for other reasons.

Definitely Guttler for me
The extra attack extra dmg attack aftermath on a job that gets almost no native atk bonuses
Actually makes /war feel really strong
And axe is probably my favorite of all weapon types

Carnwenhan second for almost no reason
I like the way it looks the am3 is nice song duration too

Notable mentions
Apocalypse is my girlfriend
Bravura translates to off the throne
Had really good times with anni and kannagi at previous level caps
Really like the stories to Excalibur and aegis

Kusanagi - SAMs best weapon.

4/5 step Light, 3/4 step dark and tons of macc for Hybrids.

It’s fun and does ridiculous damage in most situations.

I still like Godhands. Although they're probably a net negative for MNK wrt skillchain properties, they make a lot of MNK WSs viable and are pretty fun.

Tizona - simply put it just gives alot of stuff - strong ws (from my testing a stronger ws than savage blade), AM3 giving higher tp gain, & basically infinite mp as long as you.. litterally just melee

Apocalypse - caps out overall haste at 80% as long as you have capped magic & equipment haste, meaning you don't need to rely on last resort or hasso for capping out haste. (and obviously spam heals as long as the mob isnt undead)

Doji(sam aeonic) i play solo/duo/lowman alot, meaning i usually don't have sam roll, that being said the TP bonus actually can come into play due to that, as well as since i am (probably) the only DD i can self SC spam Radiance.

probably in about either 3 months when i can make a stage 3, or in 3 years where i finnaly decide, probably either Foenaria or Kusanagi as well

FYI this isn't true. With Hasso, sure, but by itself it absolutely cannot cap haste.

68.75+10 = 78.75. Delay cap is, as you mentioned, 80%

Excalibur for RDM, having a decently strong Fusion WS on tap is just so nice for both solo and group play. After that, probably my Helheim cause it looks cool.

The 30 HP/tic Regen and 3 MP/tic that can't be dispelled is icing on the cake.

Gjallarhorn, because it's an excellent piece of equipment that will be useful forever and will certainly never have its sole function usurped by a later and more powerful instrument...

Nah, but really, I like Rhongomiant. I know it's never the right tool for the job, and Trishula outperforms it in any but the dumbest edge cases (but look out moogle Ambuscade, I'm ready for you!) but I dunno, the triple damage aftermath is just so satisfying. Sucks that its associated weaponskill is like the one option dragoon has that can just completely miss, I guess Camlann's torment was something to do with being blind.

I guess I could extend that to two-handed empyrean weapons in general, I really like Caladbolg for the "surprise, 8k crit with low buffs" factor too, but Rhongo is the only one where it feels like I'm choosing to use it.

(also have you seen the tarutaru model for trishula, it's a goddamn sewing needle, let me use a real spear okay)

Apocalypse will always be my top ultimate weapon, even though I got mine very late in the life of the game and it has fallen off to an extent. The item just looked so sweet with the bandages on the handle, and the utility was something that made me want to play DRK. I still think it's one of the more unique weapons in the game for what it gave a job. It saved me so many times, and I still enjoy using it to this day in the rare cases i need JA haste and survival. I appreciate the fan service they did with Foenaria as the foundation for Origin, as it still "Feels" like the weapon was designed with Apocalypse in mind, but never totally replaced it, which is something rare when it comes to Relic Weapons Usually better weapons replace them, but Apocalypse still holds value.

Close second would be Chango, absolutely loved that thing. It was like a fancy King's Crown on a stick and you be whipping that mf around making multisteps. At the time it FELT like an ultimate weapon, being able to just chain out WSs while your character never stopped swinging. There was nothing that lived long enough to survive the havoc this weapon wreaked. Even when Seg farms shifted to Naegling spam, I still used Chango in the early days. I still remember someone challenging me back when Odyssey was still fresh, and they were impressed I put out 6M in damage before all of the Sakpata and Nyame was high ranked. Just a masterpiece.

Tizona would be my all-time favorite weapon as a fan, though. First mythic, basically took my BLU to a whole new level and "looked" the part for BLU. Just an exceptional weapon and I would argue one of the few DD Mythics that still hold a top spot among REMA weapons.

I love Doji
I also love using Chango but rarely get to
I use Aeneas a lot but that's because I'm too lazy to get Twashtar
Shooting and using Last Stand on COR with aeonic gun is great
Aeonic polearm is fun... Only on colibri really

I like using Calad in Limbus, have also done 8 boss sortie on it somehow (not a super serious DRK)

Armageddon. It's really fun when you get AM3 rolling, have a good crit set, pop Hover Shot... and then just pop off normal ranged attack rounds that hit like a weapon skill when you get crit AM procs. Pair that with Chrono Bullet though ;)

Nagi. Because it's the best looking weapon in the game, and it feels more unique since only maniacs build a Nagi.

Honorable mentions for "it's just fun to use": Tizona, Chango. Honorable mentions for "it's just really good and I could no longer imagine playing the job without it": Yagrush, Idris, Epeolatry, Nirvana, Tizona again, all the BRD REMAs

Edit: OH! I think Su5 weapons also sort of fit here, and I really like the unique C path stuff since it feels more job-specific and creative. More like a Mythic. Gandring is king for just being super fun to use and very unique, but I also really enjoy getting to use Crocea Mors.

Sad part is that emp aftermath doesnt apply to jumps, wouldnt really change its standing but itd make for some nice spikes

Kenkonken - turns your automaton into a skillchain machine while tanking, and making the master capable of hitting 5-step light solo with a mage automaton magic bursting every step of the skillchain.

Aymur + Diamond aspis - Lets you make a 20-step skillchains effortlessly w/ AM3 and proper sTP build, changes the dynamic of how you summon pets to better make use of fulltime killer instinct.

Almace - Works wonderfully with RDM and a proper sTP+Temper II build to solo light or dark and Magic burst off yourself.

Farsha - on WAR Gives you a similar magic damage WS option on axe similar to an Aymur BST, has no dSTAT so does good static damage on anything that would generally resist you for having more INT/MND/CHR, and able to solo darkness or make light with fragmentation properties + make long skillchains w/ diamond aspis (need to personally test more out) Native WAR DA and Fencer w/ proper sTP+DA build make this weapon powerful.

Tupsimati - Just finished it recently and through limited testing allows me to burst enmity-free w/ a proper build, empyrean body bypasses the enmity cap as well. It can work well with a tank that needs to keep hate at all costs while optimizing damage with hate free magic bursts (w/ weather + also stacks beautifully w/ empyrean feet Klimaform damage boost), can also swap to light weather in situations you need to heal and buff while maintaining enmity-free spells easing the load on your tank. AM3 allows you to solo skillchain saving stratagems for Ebullience, and the WS attached to it is like a powerful Darkness-based nuke itself, giving you decent damage while opening and closing your own skillchains for self-Magic Bursts.

As a career WHM, Yagrush is just aces. Simplifies the gameplan for most encounters and tightens up your action economy. Beautifully efficient.

Chango is another one that's never disappointed. What's already a fine pick for zerging becomes S-tier when you've got a mob to yourself and can chain without interruption, especially when it's vulnerable to skillchain damage.

Ukonvasara is much more niche, but it's probably my favorite overall. The model's cool, the AM3 ride is cool, having to build a specific set for the AM3 ride is cool, and its AM3 ride in particular rules thanks to WAR's ability to cap double attack rate and pump double attack damage. Access to PDL has only improved things, and WAR has the attack steroids to make it really pop off. Formidable performance-wise even in the absence of an AM3-centered buff suite.

There are more that I've gotten a lot of use out of-- all the BRD instruments and Carnwenhan, Idris, Epeolatry --but they just lack the shine of a huge axe, in my eyes.

Top 5 in no particular order.

Death Penalty - It's a hand cannon and Leaden Salute just hits so much harder with it.

Tizona - just makes refresh sets not needed and I don't have to use Naegling while doing more damage than savage blade.

Ryunohige - very sexy looking polearm especially with the blue Ares' set.

Foenaria - doesn't have the haste on the AM but I can live with that. Origin just makes things go splat while not letting you go splat.

Epeolatry - Amazing physically defensive weapon while also being able to hit fairly hard.

Almace is my #1 for sure. Beautiful big sword with a hefty blade. Chant Du Cygne's Z-cut weaponskill animation was always satisfying. Loved the weapon so much I took it to 99 pre-Adoulin. While I've never been one for parsing, I did get a quiet satisfaction and do a silent fist-pump when I'd see someone share parses post-Voidwatch kills and see my name in the top 3 alongside the usual WAR/DRK/SAM contenders. I don't get to use it much these days sadly but it's still my favorite.

I classify rema under 3 categories, Dps, Qol and Game changers, my favorite classification are game changers. Some of my favorite game changers are in no particular order;
Tizona - Virtually removes Mp issues for melee blus.
Epeolatry/Aegis - Massive breaks above the dt/mdt caps
Yagrush - Aoe debuff removal without limits
Daurdabla/Loughnashade - Doubles bard songs, Daurdabla also added the whole dummy song aspect.

Helheim - It made Great Sword, Great again. The SC properties on Fimbulvetr at first glance don't scream at you, "ELITE!" But they really should be in vogue. Not only do they allow Great Sword to self Darkness finally, they also allow it to do its own endless SCs with two strong WSes. Fimbulvetr > Resolution makes Scission, and after that you can loop as many times between the two as you like or until the mob is dead/you run out of SC timer.

Since Resolution has the same properties as Savage Blade, this means Helheim is meta WS friendly too, in things like Kalunga. So you can endlessly SC with your buddies as well. This also allows it to mostly bypass healing Aita, if you coordinate even a little (of course it's always just better to only Fimbu on Fire/Thunder/Earth TP moves instead).

Then, it also has good SC relations with Black Halo, for any of you Pimp Cane RDMs out there. RDM puts up insane numbers with Maxentius, and Fimbulvetr > Black Halo = Gravitation, which you can then play off of to make Darkness on the next Fimbu.

Then the PDL aftermath makes its Resolutions rather beefy, and its stats make its Resolutions rival R25~30 Agwu's.

Plus it's a sexy black and purple version of Ragnarok.

Ragnarok - It's pretty, and I still like it. I do wish they'd upthrust its Aftermath potencies. Still technically the most versatile Great Sword for skillchaining, but lacks the oomph of Helheim / As good Party SC play(imo).

Farsha - Cloudsplitter gets to be viable, and when you show up to Peach Power with one, everyone chuckles. But then the CORs wind up animated, and your self-Darknesses are no slouch under magic oriented buffs. Looks cool as hell too! Then there's the fact that Calamity AND Mistral Axe are power house moves with nifty properties.

Kogarasumaru - I don't care what anyone says. This long boy is still great! The tsuka ito on it is great to look at, and I like its historical reference.

Anguta - Coolest looking Scythe model in game.

Yagrush - Coolest club in game

Gandiva - beefs up the coolest ranged weaponskill in the game, and is jet black and gold kinda. Very cool bow.

Excalibur - it's too sexy for its gearsets, too sexy for its gearsets, so sexy it hurts~

Kikoku - It's blue.

While basic, Caladbolg making big numbers makes my brain happy.
Behind it is Foenaria/Apocalypse. When going at 1k TP they are similar-ish and the self-sustain is excellent. Every time I think about playing WAR I realize I'd miss this too much.
Mythic/Ergon aftermaths on melee weapons is really fun with the occ. 2-3 hits. I only have access to it with Epeolatry, but I love it.
