Just wanted to bump and appreciate this post.
As a new and returning player (played for about 6 months at NA launch and then started again in 11/25 so it's practically a whole new game to me) - this graph and the discussion around it is valuable to escape the analysis paralysis.
The reason I left was because no one wanted a monk, and I was dead set on playing what I wanted to play. Coming back I wanted some closure on the story and to do things I never could before like dynamis. Being that special mix of someone not wanting help but wanting be helpful, I've started with the solo minded stuff but have been eyeing what I can chip away at to be useful to a group.
Coming back with that mindset, it's a little overwhelming. "Ok, warrior to 50, unlock dancer and level to 50, then theif to 99 to farm. Then rdm to 50 and blu (what I really wanted to play) to 99. Oh... But I should level PUP as well so I can try to 2 hr easy Lilith every day and work towards malignance. Oh, what about scholar for their solo fights... Oh what if someone spontaneously wants to summoner burn..."
So when it comes to group play and I'm seeing the barrier to entry on support and wondering to myself where the best ratio between investment and usefulness is. That's where this chart and whole discussion has been very helpful. I appreciate the call outs that every job can serve a purpose and some are more solo/ less traditional in mind. I also really appreciate the list to see the general vibe towards the job and how I'll be received by others when trying to group for things. Sometimes it's just helpful to have something 80% devoid of nuance other than the columns of content to just break that second guessing loop and just make a dang decision and work towards it.
Thanks again.
