Quote: wtf, I thought it was 2 plus body had its own 3rd slot?
Nope, it works exactly as I said it does. This has been known for over half a decade now, going on nearly 8 years. The earliest testing on the omen boss drop tables was being done in 2017, and it was confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt relatively quickly (at least in terms of how fast the community universally comes to an agreement on obscure things). Just look at the bgwiki page
https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Kin
The drop table is listed right there, and if you look at the page history you'll see this info was added as early as 2018. Dagon breastplate will always load at a fixed rate. This is 100% fact. We've observed this list to be accurate for far too long. Scale, grip, and ring are all uncommon drops within the slot, while dagon breastplate is the ultra rare load. It is what it is.

I'm not sure where you're hearing this from. Nobody in my shell has said that for the longest time. The second drop slot can sometimes be a scale, so there are runs where you get NO accessory drops and instead just see 2 scales. But whenever one of the accessories loads, it always loads in place of the lower scale. And that slot always loads. It's 100% to show up. And whenever dagon breastplate loads, in every instance, in every screenshot (and there have been multiple screenshots of it), its always in the same location. See for yourself.

Taken from a screenshot on the dagon breastplate page on this very site. The only thing treasure hunter affects is whether or not you get the moonbow steel to load. And nobody gives a crap about that.

within Omen, TH increases the occurrence of a second item from Ou, but does not make hands drop any more frequently. it also increases the drop rate of swarts substantially, of course. that's it.
Ou is probably the only thing you really want to have thf build TH on in current game, everything else it either doesn't work or is easier to just pop another NM.

Ou is the one exception to the treasure hunter rule. Ou has a different drop table where treasure hunter does have an impact. Ou is the ONLY catuare treasure hunter affects, and on OU you DO want a thief and you DO want some treasure hunter procs.
The other 5 catuares however.. treasure hunter sadly doesn’t help on

Oh yeah, you're right. Shows how much attention I pay. I didn't play for years while Omen was new content so never really looked into it. Definitely seen people say TH increases body drop. Since it doesn't nvm about THF then, back to dropping it on WAR in 5mins with ease and RIP THF.

Puppetmaster. I started this job when it first came out and every one lolpup me. It was new and no one knew how to use it well. So I fell in love with the job because it was just me and my pet hannya.
I started an old adventure of soloing NM pup videos and some ballista to prove to the world ? that pup is not a bad job if used right. Every event and party i was not invited too i solo it all like VNM etc. ( keep in mind this was back 2007 or so when ever the job came out).
I no longer play but I do pop in when free event start to see how things going once in a blue moon.
Hopefully my mission is completed and people started accepting the job.
Here one of my fight back in the day. Iam sure a naked 99 brd can solo any of these now n days but things was different before

https://youtu.be/egLd11V269c?si=XPJKIzXgrWwWT8AMI used to watch your videos back when I used to play. I loved PUP too. I loved any pet job. But PUP felt really unique. Shame that they never gave it any of the love it deserved. They had the AI from trusts, and never backported it. Nothing was more annoying than the WHM auto spamming Cure 6.

So, once upon a time, I dipped my boots into the world of Final Fantasy XI. And my very first fling? Red Mage. Oh yeah white magic, black magic, swinging a sword like I owned the place. Felt like the complete package. But as I climbed higher, reality smacked me upside the head. Turns out, the job was more about babysitting healing, throwing debuffs and not much about melting faces with spells or going toe-to-toe in melee. So, I thought, nope, not my circus, and I rerolled.
Enter Thief. Level 75. My first true love. Getting there was no picnic, no Chains of Promathia, just grinding through strange corners of the world: Valley Sorrys, Kuftal Tunnel, Labyrinth of Onzozo. Damn, it was rough, but oh-so-sweet. Being the puller, setting the pace, landing that first SATA? That was pure magic. I devoured guides on FFXI-Ifrit and Allakhazam like they were scripture. Took me years, but man Thief hooked me deep.
Then came Samurai. After years of sneaking around, I wanted raw, respectable damage. Hagun, Hauberk +1… oh, baby. SAM was a beast. Dropping Gekko, Kasha, Rana with the buffs stacked up it was like orchestrating beautiful destruction. My linkshell let me kick things off in Sky as THF/DRK, but SAM? That’s when I felt like I was truly carrying weight.
Next stop: Warrior. Around Abyssea, SAM wasn’t shining, and I wanted a job that was ironclad in every fight. My LS hooked me up with an Ukon, and that’s when WAR became my longest-running flame. From 2010 all the way to 2023 it was my bread, my butter, my big damn hammer. Made empy weapons, smashed through VW, Einherjar, Legion… it was glorious.
But then… oh then came the Naegling era. Everybody and their grandma had one, swinging it like they were special. Boring. Predictable. Took the fun right out of my WAR.
Monk. Fast fists, FTP replication, God Hands. It reminded me of my Thief days—dual-wielding quick blades, carving things up in a blur. And boy, did Monk deliver. Easy to gear, devastating WS, and when I picked up Verethragna? Oh, hell yes. Against bosses, Vereth was poetry. Against waves? God Hands, baby Howling Fist, Tornado Kick, carnage everywhere. For the first time, I was trading blows, parse for parse, neck and neck with those cookie-cutter Naegling WARs and DRGs.
So yeah that’s been my journey. RDM for a year, THF for three, SAM for two, WAR for damn near thirteen, and now MNK standing tall as my new main.

Dragoon
Dragoon has and always will be my favourite job. It was the entire reason I got the game. I was showing my GF FF12 and remembered about "oh that online one had the monsters up all the time, it wasnt random encounters" So I looked up FF11 and did some research and stumbled across DRG. As soon as I saw you get a pet dragon, I was all in. Went out and bought the game. This was just around the time when WoTG came out, so missed the loldrg stage... but always seen as a "late to the party" player as it was 2008. My first Relic and first Mythic were both DRG weapons. It may not put out the numbers like my DRK does but its a lot more fun.
I Miss DRG burn parties.
Paladin
Sword and Shield will always look cool. Doesnt matter what the game is. Burtgang was my second mythic. I always like being front line, so PLD was always going to be on the table.

White Mage, because it's difficult these days to find an MMO where healers actually spend most of their cognitive resources healing/buffing. It's useful in a ton of content, necessary in some as well, and an excellent safety net that rewards forethought. Aside from Yagrush, is pretty inexpensive to gear properly too.
Warrior, because it exemplifies FFXI's "right tool for the job" design-- certainly effective at throwing out savage blades, but equipped to explore more effective options to suit the content and group. Lots of options to play with. Rarely feels like a waste to collect a new REMA for it.

If we are talking about past Eras:
75cap DRK was exceptionally fun. KClub, Rune Chopper, Ridill and Apoc were all some of the best weapons.
Apoc DRK/NIN was the single best tank at 75 cap. Being able maintain a low shadow recast, spam hate spells (before they were nerfed), and keep your HP full while doing top tier damage was challenging but very rewarding.
During the 93.3% delay period Apoc hit so hard it was a DPS loss to weaponskill after putting AM up.

They nerfed RNG about a week after I got it to 75. That was such a big disappointment in my FFXI career.

Othinus Bow RNG was pretty good at 75. It was always competitive with Ebow, and also buffed the party's damage.
-Acid Bolts for defense down.
-Darksteel Bolts for WS/Barrage.
-Sleep/Bloody Bolts for emergencies.
-Holy Bolts for TPing
I think I also had a Hellfire+1

Utility bolts were great, just a shame xbow is usually a pretty decent dmg hit since bows/guns have all the damage

Hi all, would love to hear what jobs you enjoy playing the most and why? The reasons can be anything, ranging from 'feels great to be useful in the team' to 'I like the intensity' to even just 'love the aesthetics and noises in battle'.
I'll go first and list everything I can, though I haven't geared some of them so I have no idea and am keen to know if you guys have thoughts.
MNK
Super fun just punching and kicking and dealing so much auto damage as well as multistrike.
Impetus feels great to pop, and all the abilities just push towards more hits.
The kit also makes you super defensive and gives you some counter, so feels great to walk around with usually the highest HP (unless a DRK uses absorb), and the 1hrs feel like great clutch tools for survival or quick dps.
Subtle blow, chi blast, shijin, suppresses enemies which feels nice when it works.
RDM
The idea of the closest thing to a spellblade in this game is cool. Enspells feel great, and not just the damage but with temper 2 and multihits it feels so nice to spam slashes and hear all those noises.
In bosses you can end up doing several things which feel super intense and fun, ranging from debuffing to healing. I feel like not enough people know how many tricks RDM can come up with in battle.
BLU
WAR
Actually interested in hearing how WAR high-end feels, but I imagine after reading what all the JSE offers that it's some crazy multihitting machine, getting TP insanely fast and just spamming huge chunks of WS damage?
I'm assuming WAR is the main Greataxe user; I love most of the animations, I haven't got a Chango yet but the idea of spamming upheaval makes me really happy, I wonder if it makes other WARs happy.
SAM
Skillchains are fun, and I'm assuming doing it with SAM is super fun given that the job is catered to it, but it's not geared well enough for me to have enjoyed it.
Some of the animations make me want to instantly switch to the job, my favourite is probably Gekko.
DNC
Began obsessing over it after I joined an LS friend in Ambu as a MNK and saw them take 20% off the boss with a single SC; the amount I took with my MNK after 5 separate WS.
Waltzes feel so damn fun to use, no casting, just keep hitting and feeding HP to people. I wonder if this sort of utility has room in Ody or high-end content anywhere. Erase is also super nice to use in a pinch to make people wonder where it came from.
As an inherent DW job, feels fun to use with stacked multihit and minimal required DW stat for fast animations and TPing. I find evisc spam super fun even though rudra would be more useful once someone gets a Twashtar and a good Ody set for it.
I wouldn't say steps are entirely fun, but I find it fun to see them being put to work and giving a defense down.
WHM
Haven't geared it but if I find RDM healing fun, I have a feeling I'd love this. Coming from FF14, I always found healing fun, especially in endgame. What are main healers' thoughts so far here?
COR
Bolter's roll is just too addicting, this alone makes me want to 24/7 the job, running around in town with flee speed (with lanun knife or higher ofc).
Unfortunately I don't find the job too fun besides the above, and doing rolls and seeing the chaos roll and store tp come to life.
NIN
Still need to gear, but the animations for katana are super nice, Shun, Ten and Ku especially for me.
Daken throws being used frequently is fun.
I like the idea of SCing and MABing, it's like RDM and DNC mixed in somehow with SAM. Having said that I've only seen NextGames do it, I haven't built sets to try. Curious how others feel playing NIN.
Other Jobs
I haven't played enough of the other jobs to comment. I feel like RUN and PLD could be fun but I haven't geared them.
GEO seems useful but I wonder if it's fun? Unless it's a pretty intense job with them nuking and healing by the side.
Haven't tried SMN but interested in hearing how it plays out for people, same for PUP.
I've tried a bit of DRG and found some pole animations fun, but I don't think anything else resonated with me.
I worry RNG may be boring if I found COR boring, but I may be extremely wrong.
Haven't tried BST, DRK or BLM; though I'm curious how strong BLM can nuke stuff at high-end gear. The idea of just running around one-shotting mobs appeals to me a lot.
THF is fun, though I found it a bit like a lesser DNC with its only utility being TH.
I found BRD's gameplay interesting but haven't tried it after giving up on even playing it with the REMA requirements.
SCH I tried for a while and found it fun, but a bit too intense and somewhat confusing, but this was also one of my first lv99 jobs so if people recommend giving it a go again if it's fun then I may; I've heard a lot about the nuking / solo potential.
