to add the the ??? theories, I wondered if it could work like the original mog tablets, where someone needs to walk past/over it to make it pop without going too fast? maybe we've got lucky with the ones near exits since people congregate there, but it could randomly be somewhere stupid and out of the way, especially in temenos.

Could it be this ??? is actually the Temenos one which doesn't seem to be popping on Asura?

You cant have two ??? exist at the same time in the same zone when only one exists in the dats for that zone.

Unless youre suggesting the temenos one is being triggered, but some bug is causing it to pop it in apollyon? I dont want to doubt spaghetti code, but has there ever been anything like this in 23 years?

Theres no bugs on the JP side of the forums about Temenos ??? not appearing, but I did see someone posted a bug that Magic damage becomes 0 after Sahagin's do bubble armor?

Regarding the ???.

Not sure if it has been said, but here’s what I discovered today.

So 2 days ago I claimed it. And today someone said they find it in another spot, went and click, 3k. So you can claim it, at least, every time the thing move.

Had someone spawn the ??? and thinks it may have something to do with killing X number of things near the same time possibly. ??? are definitely spawned from things dying. They said it spawned when a group passing by killed a bunch of imps around the same time.

??? could be linked to the unique families on each floor? For example SW Imps on floor 2, taurus on floor 3, gargouilles on floor 4? That would give a reason why floors have a unique family to them among a bunch of shared types on all of the floors.

FWIW I'm fairly certain I spawned the ??? the other day, in Apollyon, and I am nearly 100% certain I was the only person on the floor at the time. If there was someone else, they were off in a different part of the zone I couldn't see. I was only killing 1 mob at a time as well (only DDing on a single character, no other people in my party).

I don't believe it involves killing simultaneously, unless there happened to be another person (probably only one, I'm on a small server) in the zone killing at the same time.

My kill was probably a raptor, could've been a turtle.

・After maint/version update/first appearance, the ??? disappears after 72 hours
・The ??? appears after an NM is killed
・NM is a lottery pop from trash
・Lottery only occurs while the ??? is not up

Unknowns
・Tenemos (currently bugged?)
・Bug is related to the NM reverting to being a normal mob, being killed, and then that counting as the ??? trigger (but with no ??? appearing because the mob is no longer a NM)
・Unsure if it is shiny or not?

in central tower floor 1 there is an orc that is slightly larger. but does not check impossible to gauge. i can try to kill later & see if it spawns ???

(for anyone curious what i'm yapping about. at least in central floor 1: the ranger orc is for some reason larger than the other orcs)

This bug reads something like “the mob was impossible to gauge until someone aggroed it, then it turned into a normal mob”

eh ive been scanning thru asura temenos for an ITG mob. Havent been able to see one yet. Feel like either its still bugged or its off path. But if so you think there'd be other servers finding it quickly. Cant be off path on all of them.

I believe the working theory is that,
  • Monsters in both zones pop as regular mobs.

  • When the monsters respawn, there is a lottery chance that the mob respawns as a NM instead of normal mob. Only way to detect this is by /c'ing it.

  • Defeating the NM is what drops the ???.

  • The lottery only activates/NM will only spawn if the ??? is not up, 72 hours have passed since the last ??? was up

  • There may be a bug involved with the NM lottery/spawn conditions in Temenos, likely related to mobs being trained to the porter then subsequently going passive or other mechanic involved (this semi-makes sense because there is much more sleep --> porting going on in Temenos than there is in Apollyon)

  • It's not know if there are any specific conditions for the lottery i.e. floor, mob level, etc.



If I were to deliberately try and hunt the ??? in Temenos, I would pick an area of monsters, kill, then /c all new pops until I found the NM. That would be laborious, so it's a better situation for the server to just passively find it and announce it widely for everyone's benefit. Who knows, the pop chance could be like 1-5%.

1. Monsters outside of their original spawn area will prioritize returning to their spawn point if they lose aggro, unless attacked.

2. Will adjust the default option on the warp menu to “do nothing” to help prevent warping to an incorrect floor when in a group. There was a recommendation about making the menu so you can only select the floor a party leader has selected, but this was deemed difficult to do. If you have any thoughts on this, please let us know.

It was only a matter of time for mpk to end but that means bots will be on their way.

Default should just send you back to enrance can pick any floor from there.

It's not even worth botting, so not really

As far as the floor selector (which is a massive pain in the ***, all that menuing) it should just draw the whole party up when the leader selects the floor. Any time you can idiot proof something, you should. Idiots selecting the wrong floor shouldn't be possible.

Temenos is ID 16929543, which would be index(what you probably mean) 775, which is 0x307 in hex.

Apollyon is 16933460, 596, 0x254.

I know these can change but think they might stay constant. The Jingle Addon I just discovered works with the ID, the HEX ID i couldnt make work. Thanks.

Still no Temenos ??? On Shiva so either it’s one ??? Available in Limbus entirely or possibly it’s linked to a specific mob that has to be killed a specific number of times by server. Seeing as most players either fight at start or end there are areas where even training mob teams don’t link.

Id and index are different values and ambiguous terms. As I listed them, the ID is a gamewide identifier that is unique for every monster, fixed npc, and player. The index is the entity's position in the internal entity array (for monsters that aren't dynamically spawned, it is also fixed and in the format of the low 12 bits of the ID).

Hex vs decimal is just a way of expressing value. Ideally, addons and wiki entries would use ID because it is a more complete value. If using hex, it's standard to prefix values with 0x to indicate that it's in hexadecimal. But, there's no standardization so many use index or even hex index. Pretty common on the wikis for it to say 'ID is 64' with no indication that it's actually the index and it's in hex.

The ??? should not change ID unless SE makes significant changes to the zone, and if it does, it'll most likely be reflected in the dats.

Is the sphaghetti really that bad that they can't implement something so simple? Party leader must warp up first. Only the party leader gets to choose what floor they go to. Whatever floor they select, the rest of the party is assigned to automatically.

That shouldn't be that hard right? It's simple enough logic to implement. It's three steps ffs. And they're all straightforward.

I parked my chars (6, lvl 130) at one of the rooms where theres 10 mobs available. I'm doing roughly 7 kills every 90 sec, which would be about 3400 temenos units per hour. I didnt time my climb speed, but presuming just killing whats necessary for temp item and porting up, a temenos climb (again, 6 chars, lv130) would be worth 7930 units ((170*7*3)+(340*4)+3000) minimum. Presuming 4 minutes per NEW floor and 8 min per C floor, thats (7*4*3)+(8*4) = 116 minutes, lets just say two hours.

3400 units per hour just killing fodder vs 3965 units per hour doing the event properly.

If SE wanted to motivate people to jump areas and get the chest, the box reward needs to be a bit higher.

That was with the old 7 kills per cycle. With the reduced required kill count, that would now be ~52 seconds per cycle, or 69 cycles complete per hour. 69*85 = 5865 units per hour (+85 on first clear).
The value of the temenos climb is unchanged: 7930 with a slim chance of an extra 2k. However the time to complete the climb has been shortened due to less kills. Lets presume its ~90 minutes now. 90 minutes for 7930 units = 5287 units per hour.

I would like to assume the local RMT is sufficiently proficient in mathematics to know that 5865 units per hour is better than 5287 units per hour. However, this can only get you so far as there are incentives to do the content properly:
1-You're limited to how much you can gain per week
2-Doing the content properly will increase your unit cap

Its not worth sitting in limbus for 24 hours straight in one room, but its definitely worth doing for ~2 hours once or twice a week once you've sufficiently raised your cap.
We also have no idea if SE will pull another sortie-esque bait and switch here: +6 upgrades will require 100k, 150k, 200k, 250k, 300k points and the cap will balloon to 10 million units.

The bigger problem is that of the 220 pieces of AF and Relic 119, about 75% of them were worth upgrading to +3, even 5 years ago, and of that remaining 75%, maybe 10% of it is actually worth bumping to +4.


Aside:
My upgrade rate from 3k to 5k on the coffer seems to be around 15%
In Apollyon, I've opened the box 42 times and had 6 instances of 5k units.
In Temenos, I've opened the box 54 times and had 8 instances of 5k units (ironically, 1 char has gotten that FOUR times)
