Pop Farming in 2025
By Seun 2025-05-27 16:21:39
I usually would farm in long 8 hr chunks of time, cuz once you max out lights you wanna keep em that way
It's only really an issue for new players or new alts, I guess. Beyond a certain point you start stacking traverser stones so it's more efficient to just re-zone most of the time.

Zoning resets lights back to 0, which is bad. Even in 2025 it's n9n trivial to recap lights all over again.
You want to hit very specific levels of lights to get tonnes of pops from chests, lotta people just max everything out but that actually *** you over, lol.

Cap Pearl, level 3 Amber, and also cap Azure if you never want to zone, right?

The problem is both options are bad.
If you kill an NM you get ebon light, that's all colors. You don't want that. Or you leave and go back to zero. Neither is super great.
You really don't want max ebon from being in zone for 100 hours, it's the same as having max ruby and over capping amber, plus too many azure.
Pick your poison.

You heard it here folks, it takes Eiryl 100 hours to do one zones worth of trophies.
Once again, I am reminding you to never take advice from this low-tier RMT.

Pretty much, yup!
Amber level depends on if you are targeting pop items or pop key items, IIRC

I have my own simpler but more versatile version of this solution I maintain:
https://github.com/SteffenBlake/popper-ashita
It uses https://github.com/uleelx/FlatDB for very fast lookups and saves, which means saved pops are shared across all your mules instantly (no need to do a "save" or "load" command, it just works)
The premise of mine is you simply register a pop for any given npc and then it'll remember that, and then moving forward you just /pop it and it'll use the saved trade you registered prior.
Very handy for all manner of npcs you frequently trade. Keys to doors, goblin keys, abyssea pops, mog gardens, quest trade ins, etc etc.
And since you can just re-save what you have registered, its handy even for stuff like escha NMs, where on one day you might be repeatedly popping 1 NM, and then another day you'll be popping something else.

Yeah, what I'm saying is if you want an easy job to make that can use all the WSs, it's Nin not War. Merits, mpaca set and you're off. The trade off being that access to the weapons on warrior is easier since they are on the lvl 1-5 common weapons. You just need an all job katana (AH) and GKT (login) which are easier to come by/takes less time than all job PLM/Gsword/Scythe (I don't even have the lvl 1 weapons for these types, I'm assuming they are all login but not necessarily the same month).

Can get all of those with the replica vouchers from ambu. These can be stored on slip too.
The gkt Nin can use is the same gkt War can use. And nin gets katanas.
Edit - Scythe is either login points or the Hoe from mog garden.

Scythe appears to be a bit tougher; the login point reward has only come up 3 times in the last year, and one time seems like because it was a Ark lockstyle theme month. so anywhere from 1-4 month wait to get the login reward.
Mog garden is easier but still a few quests down the chain.

This was the reason I went War
Not only that, but War can use much lower delay weapons than the garbage 1dmg weapons.
I use:
- Merc Kris
- Joyeuse
- Mercurial Sword
- Republic Scythe
- Quint Spear
- Trainee Burin (super easy to get)
- Zanmato +1 (only actually challenging item to get)
- Apkallu Scepter (though any of the +1 event wands are marginally better, 210 delay instead of 216, but everyone should have access to Apkallu as an easy one)
- Federation Staff (lowest delay staff, sadly we cant use mercurial pole :c)
I wanna get a Ridill at some point but I just havent put the time in to sit and farm it, it might be the next thing I slowly start funneling all my mule's login points into though...

see I was even lazier, I use Ash/Bronze weapons for most of these (WAR's DA rate makes the OAT a little overkill, IMO).

Heyo! Im curious what sorts of strategies have settled as ideal for pop farming Abyssea nowadays, especially now that mastery levels have changed what weaponskills some jobs can access.
Specifically I see a few conditions that need to be satisfied:
1. You need as many red procs as possible, close to 100% (I believe the only two real contenders for this atm are War and Nin right?)
2. You need ideally both a solid physical and magical AoE "cleave" skill, to maximize ability to cleave enemies while not gaining any light
3. You need a non garbage magic WS that you can use to quickly farm your amber light up
I was, at the time, using War for this, as it hit most red procs but I could also use Aeolian Edge or Fell Cleave to farm boxes.
However, I believe Nin comes out marginally ahead with 1? 2? additional red procs it can do.
But that was back before we had Mastery levels and could get our sub job higher. Has this changed things and enabled warrior to get another red proc? Or does nin still perform better?
Also, Id suppose that 18% movespeed gear is also a pretty critical factor...
Edit: Looking at it, it seems that its viable for warrior to get all the weaponskills just using +skill gear, though great katana requires you to get Agelast Torque or Moepapa Annulet if you dont have the mastery levels for nin subjob levels yet
