I wonder if Papesse's (the guy from Carby who will find a way to use SMN in any content unless they absolutely cant) picked path D for Nyame?

I dont think all of it falls BIS for SMN though.

I had A head for a bit before they added more vengeance levels because my jobs all had better ws heads and it was an upgrade to a lot of my tp sets. Unfortunately had to redo it when they added more vengeance levels and it outperformed most of my ws heads.

I once saw a JP player (WAR) with R15 Farsha and Nyame R30 head/body/hands/legs/feet as Path A/B/A/B/A. To this day, I have no idea if he knew what he was doing.

Decided to look at my gearswap to see what AF/Relic I even use:
AF1 for SMN is mostly only useful for debuffing right now. It's major thing is high Avatar Accuracy and MACC. There's a smathering of random stats thrown on each piece to give Avatars's some kind of boost, like Haste, Double Attack, Store TP, or what have you. None of them are useful for idle or BPing. The body, however, with it's +16 BPD is still used for physical non-multi hit BPs. A buff might make it more relevant.

AF2 suffers a similar fate at the moment. All of the augments sans the horn apply some kind of buff to the small merit BP category. There used to be a time when those mattered, but that time has LONG since passed. The gloves have skill but not enough to be BIS. They also increase merit BP magic burst damage and... who does that? Pants shorten recast time for spirits? As if that's worth anything? Magical accuracy for merit BPs... whatever. The other gimmick for AF2 is BP delay reduction. The problem here is that the cap is firmly 20 seconds now, and reaching it is not that bad. Baayami hands and legs cap tier 1, add in Epitaph and the two reduction gifts in mastery and boom, you're capped. Everything else is about getting skill high enough to hit the highest favor tier. You have to add 10 skill on the hands just to TIE Baayami. There's just nothing you can do to make these pieces useful for delay anymore. The only useful pieces are the head and body. Body is still very good for multi-hit and hybrid BPs. Head has a MINOR use as a means to extend Astral Flow by 30 seconds. That's it's entire reason to exist. So really, if they somehow try to lean into the BP delay stuff again, the only use will be for people who haven't mastered the job which is... why bother?

It's really feast or famine here. The pieces that still see use will still be in use buff or no buff. The pieces that aren't used at all aren't going to magically become useful with an incremental buff to what they already do. It'd have to be a major change to make them useful. There's no in between.

I still use a lot of AF/Relic but the majority of those are just for the JA specific buffs, not the the stats on the gear themselves.

Let's see if I can compile a list of stuff I currently use.
But for some pieces I actually just have the 119 +1 version and didn't bother to get +3 lol

IMO for most jobs there are only 2 pieces of AF and 2 pieces of relic worth making. If they keep the 3/5 pointless pieces for both sets pointless I'll probably be happy since it's less work to do.

Well I'll admit I'm obviously quite biased towards JSE, I like to collect them in general, but I'm not crazy.
As a matter of fact I've already said that for multiple of those items (which I literally use just for a single JA, for example to boost duration of SP1) I have them still at the 119 +1 version.

I went to +3 only for stuff where I use them often, or in multiple instances, or for sets where I may require the additional def stats or additional offensive/macc stats.
Which are alas the majority, but thankfully not ALL of the pieces in that list.

I actually have more pieces than those in the list (some still on +1, some upgraded +3) which I used to deploy but have been outdated by other pieces, likely Odyssey or Empy+3.
Some of those pieces might become relevant again, if these upgrades end up being good.


I don't expect anything stellar though, because as me and other people already mentioned, we're talking about 220 different items, and it's unrealistical to expect SE to manually adjust every single piece individually (which is exactly what some pieces would need). Whatever these upgraded will end up be, it will likely be a generic increase, equal for every piece so that they can copy-paste it for all 220 items.

My most anticipated lowkey expectation are much better defensive stats for MNK af head and feet (especially meva), so I can wear them to balance low haste on empy legs.

If you want a head to compensate low haste... shouldn't you be using Empy head, which has 9% haste? Unlike AF and Relic which have 8% and I doubt that's gonna increase.
Or there's Null Masque which is not too bad and offers higher than usual eva/meva, high HP and 10% haste!

Summoner JSE has always been mid. It has too many overlapping slots and generally lack anything to make them relevant on top of it. AF body and Empyrean body both have bloodpact damage for example but no attack, mab, multihit, etc... Relic body has double attack and crit rate, but no bloodpact damage so it's the problem in reverse. Both the AF and empy feet have -perp cost and bloodpact damage, but the Empy are just strictly better. AF and empy horn are both idle pieces, but again... empyrean is strictly better. SE just doesn't know what to do with SMN lol. All other jobs get some spread of different things and SMN just gets the same repetitive useless stuff all in the same spots. At least spread the useless around a little.

8% on head and 4% on boots is enough haste. Legs are 7%, which means I only need 4% on body and 3% on hands, so I can fit almost anything for those 2 slots.

I didn't mean I want more haste on AF head and feet. I want higher meva, def etc. so I can use them for their current haste values without dropping my survivability and more importantly without being debuffed by everything that farts on me.

Is it for the Crit+8? I dunno, it doesn't seem like the sort of option that "omg it would be so good but I don't use it because its defensive stats are bonkers!"

Also AF+3, when it came out, had higher than usual values of Eva, Meva and MDB, but yeah compared to nowadays' average it's absolutely inferior to the other options MNK has.

You need 7% haste on head at least. Between options with semi decent meva, AF head +4 would be the only one with anything else useful for TP set (8% crit). Null has nothing really, empy the same. I guess empy would still be decent for even more hybrid set with DT, that also helps to cap SBI easier.

I guess null fits a similar role (hybrid sets).
Well... lotsa acc, DT, good defensive stats and... Regain! That's gonna increase your DPS so much, I know right? XD XD

I think you're ignoring Mpaca Head and Kendatsuba+1, for some reason.
Kenda ain't defensive king anymore, but it's still a very very nice DPS option with some decent def stats, and Mpaca has similarly strong DD stats (Crit, TA, DA) with nice PDT and... Meva/Eva ain't stellar (but still higher than AF+3) but it's partially compensated by the extremely high MDB.

I don't really ignore them, but I don't think they really cap haste with 6%. I think they are slightly below. That being said they are probably overall still stronger at ~24.8% haste than af+4 would be at 25% haste. Unless I guess AF will also get some cool things like 10% DA :D

That being said, that "ain't stellar meva" adds up on everything and the result is just too low meva. Empy legs, empy body, mpaca hands, mpaca head and AF+4 feet with let's say 130 meva would be 188 meva below full Malignance/Nyame.

Of course these days most people probably just use Godhands or Varga Purnikawa anyway, so yeah...

They should allow for you to help others like you can in Unity Concord.

Turn on an option to ‘not use your KI but don’t get RP’ so that we can help new players with V0s without feeling like we’re burning our KIs.

Ppl would be way more willing to help others get V5, 10 unlocks if it didn’t use their KIs.

I would kill for more gear that catered to buffing, like stuff that gives + stats to Avatars. At least then it would be useful for a single Siren buff. Hell, invent "Blood Pact Ward Duration Length +" and suddenly you have an entirely new set you can build.

There are easy things you could add to the job to improve it, but that would break with what the gear was originally established to do. Especially with AF2 who's sole purpose was to make BP delay suck less.
