Yeah I have gotten a lot of weird items from it, but sometimes I feel like it doesn't work. Not sure what happens

@ Draylo it's once per tally no? or do you mean you don't get an item sometimes for a whole week I thought it worked like the other furnishings that reward items. Every weekly reset after speaking with moogle in your home nation.

So, I have to remove and reapply the aurum coffer to get it's moghancement effect and the free weekly item. I don't know what causes this issue though. Grep'd from my logs:

Every month, SE gives us an updated list (or delta) of every item and its' corresponding metadata. There's a flag for an item being obtainable from the GobbieBox. How are you familiar with UNIX grep commands, awk and regular expressions...but this eludes you? I'm not really into the game's technical details or what SE does.

Almost all the data about all the items in the game is stored on your disk, in the DAT files inside the game's folders. We have plenty of tools able to parse those DATs, and that's how we DAT-mine (you might have heard this word before) new items every month as soon as they are added with the monthly patches - oftentimes way before they can be actually obtained ingame, like the Cait Sith Subligar or the Arrapago Ring. The DATs for items also contain some flags needed for the client to know how to display and treat them - for example the client won't let you put an Ex item into a delivery box, but if the item has both the Ex and CanSendPOL flags and the delivery box is towards a character on your same account, it will let you do it. Same for stuff that is not able to be sold on AH but can be bazaared, etc. For some reason there's also a flag that says if the item can be gotten from Gobbie Box or not. Sure, there is more than 1 person spinning, but not enough to spawn enough osash to move the needle, clearly. It's probably fewer than 1 per month on small servers, meanwhile several sell a month. Its just tied to the item (which is stored client side) vs. having to maintain a separate list server side which needs to be manually updated every time new items are added to the game. (same difference if the flag is only stored server side). The cynic in me is actually wondering even more so why its implemented this way since it makes it significantly less spaghetti code and why would we have that? Otherwise we could endure the takes of hot patches coming in for people getting their level 1 vanity armor before the game allows people to do it because they forgot to added it to the 2nd list. Almost all the data about all the items in the game is stored on your disk, in the DAT files inside the game's folders. We have plenty of tools able to parse those DATs, and that's how we DAT-mine (you might have heard this word before) new items every month as soon as they are added with the monthly patches - oftentimes way before they can be actually obtained ingame, like the Cait Sith Subligar or the Arrapago Ring. The DATs for items also contain some flags needed for the client to know how to display and treat them - for example the client won't let you put an Ex item into a delivery box, but if the item has both the Ex and CanSendPOL flags and the delivery box is towards a character on your same account, it will let you do it. Same for stuff that is not able to be sold on AH but can be bazaared, etc. For some reason there's also a flag that says if the item can be gotten from Gobbie Box or not. He clearly has enough technical knowledge, given that he is able log and parse Aurum Coffer drops using UNIX commands on Windows platforms. Given how terse his output and question was, I also responded in kind, with the same level of detail. I don't think I said anything so farfetched. You merely provided a more verbose explanation than I was willing to post at the time. What pattern in my posts has got you so worked up? In any case, I'm more than happy to accept constructive feedback, if you have it. Otherwise, your frustration is misplaced. not my fight but isn't
