The .net framework update is just a change to runtime code for a specific set of software development tools. FFXI doesn't use it, and it's not actually (inherently) related to networking, so I wouldn't say it's likely to be the cause.

I've seen various amounts of my characters get the 4001 disconnect overnight, often not every character on the same connection. If I had to guess, I would say it's SE's fault and you probably can't do anything about it, but I don't have much real evidence to support that take.

Also can set high priority on XI process.

You shouldn't do this.

Thank you for the useful feedback.
Go ask the windower people if you don't believe me. /shrug

All my active apps are always Increased to Above normal CPU priority automatically.

The reasone I dont set it high is because keyboard and network runs in High CPU priority class so in case the game can eat all the CPU power it is now able to starve the network/keyboard for CPU access.
Above normal secures this doesn't happen.

However I have hard time picturing this is the cause as POL/windower. Pretty much only uses 1 CPU heavy thread and wit hte current Core count on CPU would never be able eat up an entire CPU

Just my 50cent of input
