It's actually closer to 8 seconds per warp in time saved with an addon, if what maletaru is saying about 10 seconds being standard. Nah I've compared this a lot. A vanilla player will lose about 3 seconds to someone using the addon, if the vanilla player is fast in the menu. Enough for the addon player to get about 20-30 yalms ahead per warp.
I find it really hard to believe it's 3 seconds because that would imply it takes 6~7 seconds for a FastCS user to get through the teleport and that hasn't been my experience when watching streams of people & watching my friends go through teleports.
I think it might be because you're comparing a 60 FPS "vanilla" user with a FastCS user? Since those CS are (to my understanding) tied to framerate, it might look like:
Vanilla 30 FPS: 10 seconds
60 FPS: 5 seconds
FastCS: 2 seconds
Which would be more in line with my experience.
In any case, the problem is that you are rarely teleporting once. Take for example you just finished G boss and are doing H boss next. You teleport out of G boss (1), upstairs (2), over to D (3), down to H (4), and up to H boss (5). Meaning minimum you just lost 15 seconds, but I think it's more likely you lost 25+. This isn't always the case, of course, going from A boss to B boss would only be 2 teleports, but still, it can really amplify depending on your path and you ALWAYS need to enter & exit the basements and teleport from one letter to another if you're doing 8 or 9 bosses.
To use another example from this thread: if the PUG guy spent 10 seconds looking for panacea, then started running. If he had the same mario kart skills and was using FastCS but you weren't using FastCS, he would beat you to the next boss.

There's an addon that does all these calculations for you.

Why are we even discussing this.
It helps. That's the fact.
You can use it or not. Also a fact.
You can consider this to be a cheat, or consider this to be a QoL. Another fact.
If you want to increase accuracy of your anecdotes and include information of what addons were used or even you just brag about clearing something in vanilla settings then it's completely fine and valid. Now to accuse someone for not including such details or splitting the hair on how many seconds you can save using what is completely waste of time and forum space. That's on the other hand an opinion, not a fact.

I agree that it's superfluous at this point, but at least it started up again with people asking for advice on how you would proceed with 5 people instead of 6. In an unoptimized setup, the realistic expectations for how far you can get could be significantly impacted by saving 2 to 3 minutes of time a run by addons because it could allow your group to squeeze in another basement boss.
Was it presented this way? Oh course not. One side doesn't want people to consider addons and the other doesn't want to admit they bring value.

Exactly, and telling people "oh sure, we may or may not use these 5 addons, but don't worry about those, that's not how you improve your runs" you're doing everyone a disservice, from the newbie 3 or 5 man group all the way up to the 8 boss group trying to squeeze in 9, or nq 9 trying to pull off 9 with hq.
There's a lot of downplaying, minimizing, and misinfo. I reply to this to have a discussion about it and get nothing but assumptions about my motivations, mischaracterizations, and insults.
One side doesn't want people to consider addons and the other doesn't want to admit they bring value.
Oh? Which side doesn't want people to consider addons? I'm not trying to pick on you specifically, I think you're a very reasonable guy, but even this statement is putting words in my mouth and frankly, they're words I've explicitly refuted dozens, if not hundreds of times, including in this thread.
If you want to increase accuracy of your anecdotes and include information of what addons were used or even you just brag about clearing something in vanilla settings then it's completely fine and valid.
Again, assuming my intentions and putting words in my mouth. Please quote literally anything I said that talked about myself, my accomplishments, or any time I bragged at all or spoke about myself.
I get that people think they understand my TRUE intentions or why I'm really posting things, but it couldn't be further from the truth and is just some narrative in your own heads. Please read my words and dispute my arguments, not what you percieve as my motivations.

Just for memo, while porting the timer of buff stop, like songs and stuff, so if using FC your timer will go down 3-8 seconds faster than someone vanilla, per port. That also might create problems where some people (fastcast user) loose song because well the BRD didn’t use the addon and so he thinks he has 30 sec left, but that’s not the case for the guy ahead. Any group is only as good as the slowest party member. Now as a whole do I give a ***? Absolutely not. The enemy is within those hallway and behind doors, not my compatriot running with me, be it ahead or behind. It’s us vs them. Focus here boys.
Running for 30 min and waiting 4 more minutes for port animation in a 60 minute event ain’t fun, I get it. I have plenty of other useless stuff to do like listening to my kid complaining that everything is stupid.
And yes I do believe for a 5 men setups kite would be the way, or mage 2 SCH no BLM, and someone posted something that he was doing 5 men with Sylvie.

Oh it's me, I don't want people to be using addons that blatantly increasing your speed from 1 boss to another. When your account is gone, people check out. Apparently not always based on these forums...But I've seen plenty of people of people using tako in Sortie.
If I like the person, I tell them it would be a shame if they were banned for that. We're going to be doing this content for a long time and it would suck to do it without them.

That's fair, I didn't get that message from the context of your post at all, just a misunderstanding I guess.
For my part, I think everyone who's using all this crap knows the risks associated with it and is taking those risks for whatever their reasons might be. Plenty of people want to skip the boring grindy stuff, some people say the game is unplayable without XYZ, they don't think ABC parts are challenging, they're frustrated with something, whatever.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who's using a wide variety of TPP and doesn't realize they could be suspended/banned for them.
It definitely has a very real negative effect on the community though. One guy gets banned and then it causes his static members to get demotivated and quit. It's like dominos.
Please move on and get this thread back on topic. The horse is beaten to a pulp at this point.
I'm just replying to the posts that get put up. As soon as people stop posting nonsense, I'll be right behind them.

Brd and cor buffs at device. Geo to a, cor dnc to b then c, brd pld rdm to d (we do this one at c teleport > west). If pld team is done early, help with c. We typically take ~5 minutes to do all this, but we're not playing totally optimally tbh, and often have a 2box or two.

Typical 9 boss party setup? (PLD DNC BRD COR GEO RDM)
If so, DNC RDM to C, corses for C shard.
PLD BRD to C also, but go west/south west into fomors for D shard.
COR to B
GEO A (south)
DNC and RDM will go west/southwest into fomors once they are done to pick up PLD and BRD with Chocobo jig, our group typically has timings such that the DNC is arriving to the PLD/BRD just as they finish the last fomor for D shard. choco jig and continue to D boss.
COR GEO meet at D boss with the rest. Engage D typically by 53:30ish. If bhoot or DD are around we stop and kill which pushes the timing a bit.

thanks for the insight - our party comp isn't always optimal (usually running without a dedicated tank - geo, rdm, brd, cor, whm, and last spot varies depending on who's around - dnc or war typically) and we usually have at least 1 person 2boxing. def will see if we can make some changes to cut down time on getting to first boss.
are you guys bringing outside buffs in at all?
i also saw people mentioning skipping botulus to save time but we typically kill him - do we just need to optimize our Dhartok kill in order to avoid getting wrecked? it typically doesn't take us terribly long to kill the botulus (esp when we have a geo) but it would surely save us time (and the stress - in the case of folks getting charmed or whatever else)to skip if we could still consistantly kill Dhartok without the metal

how do you do C and what boss do you go to first?
Just basic buff stuff is doing all your buffs from the RDM outside before you enter with Naturalists. RDM can get to Kamir early to pop composure so that you have it then and also again when you are buffing inside sortie.
If you're feeling exposed or lacking healing to split more, you can bring an outside SCH or just have like the PLD swap to SCH and then back before going in because they always are going to have heals.

We naturalists roll and do basic buffs outside in drifts - haste, pro shell, regen.
Most of this is due to party comp. In our case, we always skip botulus because our RDM will hit it with gravity and the PLD will kite, Dhartok will stop and spit at the PLD and is basically harmless. The rest swing away and kill him.

Oh so it's 10 minutes to boss and you have to do C later.
So if your GEO can solo A and your COR can solo B that leaves you with RDM, BRD, WHM, and DNC/WAR flex to do C and D. C can be done WHM and flex DD because WHM can banish for burst. That leaves your RDM and BRD to work on D. So long as these groups are all getting to D boss at around the same time and it's at least 10 minutes or less than you're doing better than you were. You can swap the groups for C and D around but you probably want the WHM and RDM going different places for healing.
If the corses are too hard for you to do in C with 2 people you can always teleport to B, run across the wind/thunder elementals to the SE exit that is the backdoor to ghosts. If your WHM doesn't have dispel from subjob they can use dispelga from daybreak to get rid of ice spikes, just watch the AoE.

yeah, i am thinking we may end up switching back to having PLD and kiting on some bosses as it definitely was easier - just difficult to get right combo of people on/ready to go who have these jobs geared enough, and then trying to figure out who is 2boxing with what jobs - we would definitely have an easier time if we had a static compostion with all 6 being controlled by different people.
i want to say once on Dhartok when we were using the kiting method, we actually got his movement speed so low he was moving backwards (grav2+grav from geo, not sure which was being used) and it was both hilarious and made it significantly easier

So buff outside regen refresh haste aqua veil for at least the GEO. Inside run to blitzer, buff phalanx on GEO/COR, songs roll, use RD for second set of roll, should be rolling within 1-1.30 min. Geo should handle A, cor B, rest at C, we do RDM+BRD and PLD+dnc,(note: our PLD multibox the geo), by 56, latest 55 we back at blitzer with roll and pouncing to A (we do different, we do in order ABCD FGHE Aminon). We kite EFH no botulus. But if you get tainted it’s no big deal on aminon as by the time you reach it there will be 50 sec left.
Imo, if I’ll have to restart from scratch a group but knowing what I know I’ll stick to the general plan, even if that mean no aminon or time out during aminon. Most folks will improve naturally within a week or two and by the end of the month you’ll be doing some 9/9. I did not invented the plan, I’m not sure who invented and leaked it (everyone says it’s their plan but somehow it’s roughly the same cross server) but it’s solid. Use it, minor tweak it (C-KI D-KI have few different job split but it’s all minor). Ask questions here most of the time people will answer with the occasional sidetrack for couple pages then we get back on track … lmao… Phoenix.Gavroches said: »we usually KI by 56,

how feasible is BLU subbing for PLD to kite tank in sortie?
can blu even build enough enmity in a few seconds to keep it off the RDM COR & BRD going ham?
(didn't even think to consider it until someone asked in the BLU guide thread as response to my idle & kite set)

What sub do you want to use on BLU?
/RUN is vall,vali,pflug,swordsmanship,flash,foil with MLs
/PLD is 1/2 special enmity bonus from sentinel which is +50enmity and flash
/WAR is voke and warcry
/DRK is LR, Souleater, Stun which is Flash enmity wise, abs tp is 320+320, the other absorbs are 1+640
BLU itself can just use Fantod for 320+320 enmity per cast. 10 second recast if you have no haste, so probably close to on global cooldown buffed. You can run by your team on pull and Diffusion it on them if you want a big boost at the beginning same as you would warcry.
Jettatura is long recast but it wouldn't be terrible to pull with since you'll probably only get to use it once. I'll probably browse the enmity values for a bit to see if there are any other gems in BLU.
Edit: Exuviation is 640+640 for diffusion trick.
All the 'flash' moves are too short range for kiting strats. Subduction is around a 75% gravity, idk if it will land but could be useful for an off-meta comp.
Unbridled spells don't have any info on enmity so no real suggestion there. I don't think you'll land terror, so maybe just Tourbillion at the start to help damage but also might not help keep hate.
By Taint 2025-02-05 13:16:03
We do D>H at the start just to use SV before H and have 5 songs rolling the rest of the run. (B can spoil that obviously)
I think BLU could tank Aminon without issue, but kiting would be sketchy. PLD has great tools and can lose hate when the 99999s start cranking.

I've always wanted to experiment with BLU replacing PLD in the runs. It's one of the ways we could possibly eek more galli out of runs/speed up Aminon potentially significantly. Probably need a lot of things just right to make it work though, and potentially adjust strategies for a few bosses and portions of the run.

My assumption for subduction would be someone would need to immunobreak it down a rank for it to land on H at least once, which would mean multiple times for F if its in wind hands iirc, then there's just the awful duration of blu spells in general to deal with.

There will always be people who report people for not playing like them. Until we, as a community, come to terms with this, people will continue to downplay the support and benefit that comes from Third Party Tools. Until that happens, your effort will be just like Sisyphus, pushing his boulder up a hill for eternity.
Play the game. Enjoy it. If someone isn't hurting you, leave them alone. It's like FFXI in 2005, we couldn't use Windower to Alt-Tab for Allakhazam guides....and now we can. It's stupid to argue. All of you, just to learn to love each other as much as you love the game, dammit.

As long as you get the gear BLU has some REALLY good enmity spells. On top of the ones regular jobs can get /BLU, BLU gets stuff like Fantod which is 320/320 you can spam every 2s, Exuviation is a static 640/640 despite being a healing spell, Actinic Burst is 180/1080 a great AoE hate spike, etc.
When Ody first came out we were messing with BLU tanking for cleaves, I don't think there's any better these days, but this is the set we made for Enmity at the time when we were testing.

How though? Let's say you add that 300k damage from BLU in the whole fight against Aminon. That would maybe save what? 30 sec? On every other basement fight you wouldn't add any damage because you would kite anyway and you need to hold all Diffusions for Excavation to even dream about keeping hate. Tourbillion is also kinda pointless with GEO BRD COR and Dia III. I don't really see it.
By Nariont 2025-02-05 16:53:46
Theres also just the +15% dmg boost on C/G via holy circle which is seperate from everything else. Blu always seemed like itd be great as a fill for ami but like a lot of out of meta jobs- there's still the other 8 bosses/misc stuff along the way
