How plausible would it be to add a feature that allows a user to hide a post just for themselves? Just for something a person doesn't want to see, such as a movie spoiler or some kind of raunchy photo. A means to skip a post without necessarily needing to report it because it isn't breaking any rules. And without having to remember to mentally skip it every time you click on the thread.

A page on a thread is only 30 posts. Just wait a day for that thread to page.

Also once you've already seen it to know you don't want to see it, is it not already too late lol. I can understand wanting to hide entire threads but a single post is kinda silly, no?

You're not wrong. It's not that big of a pain to skirt around it. But if it's not difficult to add such a feature, I could see it being useful for a few reasons.

Is that just the post or the whole user?

We could honestly just replace the "Reply" button, which - to my knowledge - only takes you to the bottom of the page; something the "Quote" button already does better.

It's the whole user I believe, it doesn't allow them to post comments on your profile page, photos etc. I also believe you can't see their forum posts. :)

Not impossible. I'll see how rough it actually is to do with the current codebase.

As I can not be blocked, I don’t block anyone. This is both to keep my hypocrisy to a dull roar, and because I can’t follow up on reports if I can’t see the posts.

In his defense, I did link to this suggestion in another recent post, which I'm guessing he saw.

And I mean, I don't want to block people. And sometimes threads can go on for literally pages with argument-bait. If I scroll past a dumb opinion once, I can usually ignore it. But if I need to scroll past it several times, I get more and more tempted to throw my two cents in.

It's not exactly going to create world peace, but I do think people could make use out of the ability to hide posts.
