Yes I have a star and with honors with all HTBF, but those 3 appearently do not appear in the title changer npc.
So either there's a bug or... I dunno, I doubt it's a bug, other people would've experienced it (I know there's a couple of buggy titles which do not appear on the npc but it's not those I guess)

If it doesn't appear on the title changer NPC, the bug is with FFXI and not xichecklist, though. Clear the BCs again and I bet they show up.
It reports I'm at 1151/1550 RoE, but actually I'm at 1116/1116 RoE, I think

The Titles page has a confirmation mark for "The Savage II", title "Ouryu Obfuscator".
It should be Aligi-Kufongi though. Can anybody check there? If they have the title of course. Maybe you really never did them on VD I think one item was for VD (star?) one was for D (Honors?)
Anyway, I just soloed Puppet in Peril, got the title and now it appears on the Title NPC just fine. Nothing changed at the HTBF npc of course. Ironically, Puppet In Peril is a BC I barely did a couple of times back in the days, so it was possible I never did VD. But for Gessho and especially for Ouryu (which I spammed on VD with my team) that seems really unlikely, so I dunno what to say. Maybe something changed when they added one drop to Ouryu? I think they added some R/E feet with movement speed, long after I was done with that BC. Maybe that change altered something with the title or w/e? I can't think of anything. Sadly I can't solo Ouryu and Gessho so I can't really test things myself. I'm pretty sure you can solo gessho. I destroyed VD on monk the last time he was the monthly htbf. I forget if I bothered to spinning attack the clones.
Ouryu has his lame flying mechanic so you would probably need mistmelts to solo him on VD. As far as I know Mistmelts don't work in the HTBF version but I could be misremembering?
I remember we just went there full buffed and zerged him to death but we're talking about what, 8+ years ago?

If you purposely gimp your aoe damage to proc them it's a non-issue. So melee on the smn and gimp your cata(or earthcrusher) so you can proc. if you siren afac you might proc invincible and it cant fly (but now its invincible lol) youll have to spam tornado II Or take 3 ranged trusts and afk lol (selhteus) A while back before Mastery Rank was a thing, I had a personal goal to clear as many HTMBFs on VD as I could solo. I was keeping my own checklist as I went, marking off when I cleared one on VD.
When Mastery Rank came out, I went around to all the title bards to fill a new checklist full of all the titles I had earned and noticed that a couple HTMBF titles that I should have had were not available. There were two (aside from Ramuh)- one was Titan, and I forget what the second one was. Before re-attempting the fights, I checked with the merit NPC and he confirmed that I had cleared both "with honors", and I was very sure that I had done them on VD. My previous goal wasn't to farm or anything, clearing on VD was specifically the goal, so if I cleared on D instead of VD, that must have been a mistake of fumbling the menu or something. I re-did the fights, and the titles were then available on the bards. It's interesting to see someone else who experienced the same issue with the game "forgetting" some titles that should have been earned. I actually installed HiPotions's addon *specifically* to see if there were any other titles I thought I had that were similarly forgotten since I was tracking myself a while back. Fortunately, all of the titles I believed to have earned are still available.

Ouryu is solo-able on your highest dps melee. Use Iroha II to help with ranged damage when he starts flying.
But even without ranged dmg he will land eventually if you wait it out. It takes ~1min IIRC. Hmmmm I seem to recall there was a lot of AoE damage going on if you didn't end the fight fast, but of course those are 8+ years old memories and of course a lot has changed since then.
Which 5 trusts would you guys suggest? What job. Whos your unity.
If you take selh and Iroha II with EV/August and apuru/yoran it really shouldnt matter much It's 10 year old fight, blink and you miss it. Overthinking it a bit probably, you saw how easy Gessho was.

Guess the fact it was "hard" 8 years ago kinda made me overestimate it. Those Namas Arrow spam were funz xD Anyway, the title worked this time. Nothing changed on the NPC of course but now I have the title available at the title changer.

The only HTBF that are not soloable at VD on a melee job are the newer ones, Alexander, Odin, Lilith, Mao-chan (the cat), CoD etc.
Everything else has been overtaken by gear and power creep. I was soloing alexander shortly after it came out on VD with THF, it can certainly be soloed by melee jobs you just have to navigate all the mechanics and be very careful about your trust choices.

I can attest I soloed Alexander shortly after it was released (real solo, not "solo with my BRD and WHM mules") but VD was way too much of a hassle. Too much stress, too long of a fight, ultimately I settled for H.
But yeah, totally possible. Lilith VD too can be soloed by... SCH I think? I haven't tried, always sounded too much of a tough fight for me. I did solo Odin VD multiple times on RDM though. Easier/Faster than Alexander? Never tried VD Caith Sith solo. Max I managed to solo it on was H, on PUP, with 1H of course. Pretty easy and safe altough I was losing a fight every now and then. Can you not Outpost Warp to Movalpolos? XIChecklist says I'm at 17/17 and I know for a fact I've done 17/18 supply runs because nobody's conquered Movalpolos since my new character has existed.

Iirc there is no outpost there (only dungeons), so yes it is impossible to do a supply run to.

Well finally (thank you american holidays) had time to download xichecklist and run around to all the npcs:
TLDR: char 1 8654/12154 (rank 8) Char 2 3909/12156 (rank 5) (running the same version of xichecklist, no idea why the denominator is different) beyond a few low hanging fruit (couple trusts, warps, a few random quests (most of which are trial sized apparently) Monstrosity seems like my best path forward (although synth chaining escutcheon now) if someone wants me to do something for the science (tm), i'd probably be game included some random info (creation date, playtime and stuff from the anniversary moogles since it was easy to get) char 1: char 2: I know they're probably worth... Northing... or DAMN near nothing.... But jeez.
Which bard do you guys go to, to get your "____ Adventurer" titles? I've been doing Tavnazia since is has the Least(?) amount of title pool... but its been like 2 months of me doing 3-10 "choose my title for me" and 0 of the titles have hit. Is it simply not possible in Tavnazia? |
