At rank 6 +10 stat the earring seems useless for me. Or am I missing something? At rank 7/+15 it starts becoming bis for a lot of things right?

at +10 all stats it would still get used in situations where you are currently using like Ishvara, a few job abilities just care about raw stats too but ya you really want +15 or +20 before its worth the going rate it's at right now.

This makes me optimistic that if I do one thing I will ding rank 9.

The same quote everyone has been saying for 60 pages (rank 8 before, now it's the exact same for 9). Then when they don't rank up, they say it again about a different bit of content. Rinse and repeat. Everyone I know SWEARS they're just barely under the next rank.

Idk, lol. I have done a lot of stuff in this game. I was worried that it was impossible to hit 9 without beating 4 master trials. As long as it is possible with only 3, then I am necessarily close.

The gaps in my achievements line up well with Liam's, so I kind of must be close.

Not picking on you, specifically (it's why I didn't use the direct quote with your name), I just think it's hilarious how every other post is "I must be just one more title/quest/craft/HTBF away from the next rank" comments in general.

They really need a tracker, NPC or progress bar. Based on reading this thread I should be Rank 4 lol. I'm rank7 without any effort put into titles or RoE (under 500)

Keeping it abstract and unknown motivates players to engage with all sorts of random content you otherwise wouldn't. If they outright say that a few pieces of content don't effect it, the people who might've been doing that content won't.

Brings back some of the mystery / group collaboration / problem-solving from the old era too. I kind of like that they kept it this way.

Not any (extra) effort, you mean.

Just playing the game. Doing missions. Which you do. Is hundreds of titles.

Just finishing city 10, cop, rotz, wotg, soa, rov, tvr would put you at a 5 or 6. All the VD tryharding htmb and rema and job mastery and all the minutia is everything everyone should automatically be doing. Every item you've ever chased, made you chase a title or a content clear organically.

It's the extra effort that will make you 8, 9 and 10

I wonder if they track total number of kinetic units "lost to the aether" or whatever, when you trade crystals to waypoints past the 50k cap.

Probably not. The reason for caps like that is so that they don't have to keep track of an arbitrarily large number, so they probably wouldn't implement a cap and then track an arbitrarily large number anyway.

I am honestly loving it. I am seeing places and structures in the game that I didn't know existed. Grauberg(S) has a cabin in the SW quadrant that I have never seen before.

In addition to this, I like that they have a (probably unreachable) rank 10. It gives a reason for people to keep striving.

Avereith and I did a bunch of crazy stuff earlier in this thread and then SE revealed that rank 8 was the cap and we slowed down/stopped.

C'mon Byrth, let your imagination go wild. There's a cap and maybe there's a SECOND SECRET CAP - say, losing 10,000 units to the aether. Maybe 100,000! Speculating nonsense is half the fun.
