Does unlocking Monstrosity species with Mastery Rank?

Yes, Monstrosity helps with Mastery Rank. We don't exactly know to what extent each component of Monstrosity contributes to Mastery Rank or if everything contributes as a whole (all or nothing). What do I mean by this? These 3 things make up Monstrosity:

1.) Unlocking all species/monsters (i.e. get specific Monsters to 30/60/90)
2.) Unlocking all instincts (Buy with Infamy and getting all monster families to 90)
3.) Completion: Get all Monsters to 99.

I actually find Monstrosity fun, so I go at it every now and again. I’d actually go so far as to say ‘give me more species to play!’.

But more importantly… I finally finished captain rank and it pushed me to rank 6 after being on Mastery Rank 5 for YEARS. So that was interesting.

Ayyyy an RoE rank up! Has that been reported before?

It has been reported before. However, I don't think anyone has reported getting MR7 with as little as 250 RoEs completed. That's crazy to me. Ashwattha, can you load xichecklist and talk to all of the Title/VW/etc NPCs?

Those are the accomplishments since MR6. I have 918 RoE total.

I can send an xichecklist update later - been putting off talking to all the NPCs.

I was wondering if I should try to complete all RoE, quests or something to an undue level. I have been trying a balanced approach, but seeing as I have about 200 RoE left to being done and like 400 quests left - perhaps I should try to see if I can make it lopsided for ranking up. Might be some useful insight I might be able to make. Got the Vanabout title at least, so I am glad I wasn't shorted on that.

I leveled my Raptor from 17 to 41, Relinquished to get a new Dedication effect, and I was Mastery Rank 9... this means I likely dinged when I got Raptor to 30 (new skin, eft species, new instinct)

Since I was working on Monstrosity at the time and the levels arnt clear, Here's my total levels:

- I DO NOT have an Escutcehon, nor have I started.

- I'm in the middle of de-ranking all my guilds. I'm Halfway done w/ Bonecraft, and I finished Fishing/Cooking/Alchemy/Woodworking 100%

- If you'll notice my Crafts are 1 off from cap. That's due to one craft being 0.1 below cap and another being 0.1 above

- RoE's are at 1099 / 1100. I'm missing Alluvion Skirmish Yorcia because because I never got around to it

- I'm @ 32/50 Chocobo Circuit wins for my last title. I have not changed nations, still on my 1st run through

- I'm nearly done w/ Valkurm Chocobo Hot and Cold for my 5th Chocograph. I'm 0/10 in Bubu for my 6th Chocograph

- I'm working on getting the August Master Trial done, but that's W.I.P.

- Alter Ego Points are 290/550, I have 1 more Monthly to do this month and missed one last month by mistake.

- I have NOT done Brown Mage x2 titles

- I'm missing Consort Candidate (Race change to female) AND Very Discerning Individual (i'm ~ 20/100 complete)

- I'm missing Spellslinger and Barrager runes from MMM Voucher 5 Actualization (the goblin escort quest), but I dinged Maze Overlord to I didnt bother going back

- I'm Moogle Mastery 33. I'm 14/15 in Sheol A, due to Strongboxes 7/16. I'm mainly slacking in Sheol B which I barely started.

- I have 1/2 Ballista tracked titles on XIChecklist.. I've basically not done any ballista since 75 days. I have not gone back to farm Chevrons

- Missing Moogle Mount.. and Bubble Crab

- I HAVE NOT maxxed my Automaton's 3 skill categories. In fact I think Mage and Range are at 0

- Missing 7 Job KI's for 4/4ing Dyna D wave 1. I'm about 16 entries away from finishing it

- The Claim slip's I'm missing are mostly Relic, not Artifact. I stored all but 6 jobs of Artifact, but 0/20 jobs of Relic due to not re-farming Dyna for them.

- Fishing Competition I'm missing 3rd Place trophy

- Emporox Goodness, I havn't submitted the 2 Balrahn Eyepatches, nor the Yztarg Claws/Daimonic Casings for Meeble Burrows

- Mog Garden I'm about 1.5 years out from finishing Pond/Coast...

- Escha Vorseals is brutal... I'm missing really grindy ones:

In closing, doing this has really revitalized my enjoyment of the game. Enough so that I'll skip limbus climbs that I SHOULD be doing to pursue inconsequential things like Chocobo stuff or Monstrosity... because it's just more enjoyable

I plan to continue chasing my goals on this list and who knows... Maybe one of us will hit 10 one of these days. I'm really proud to add myself to the list of champions who dinged before me

Ey, grats. As always I like to do a comparison to people managing 9 to see what I'm missing compared to them (or often, have done more than) because this system is so frustrating sometimes.

* RoEs: I'm missing a handful of the new Intermediate 2, just gated on making a new Kaja weapon since I haven't touched ambu in months, but I'll finish those at some point.
* Perma KIs: Only missing two I-Orche rolls from the mog tablets and two others that haven't been available in a long time.
* Mounts: Missing the same two you are. *** them for making Bubble Crab a rank 1 prize.
* Active Effects: Completed
* Master Levels: 506, highest 41
* Monstrosity: Only a level 90 rabbit, everything else 0 or 1
* MMM Runes: Completed
* Moogle Mastery: 45/45
* Vorseals: 182/185 (missing the 360 kills on each DI dragon, @300ish)
* Titles: Missing the two master trials you've done, along with Oathsworn, but the only other two left for me are 1000 mazes and finishing a shield (which you also haven't finished).
* Escutcheon: Mine's at spirit stage, just haven't had the effort to grind spheres yet. Maybe I'll work on that after mazes are done.
* All skills capped to the master levels I have, including lolPUP.
* Claim slips I haven't bothered with any AF or Relic.
* Fair amount less of weapons, only one stage 5 and two stage 4s. Could make another 4.

So really, the main things you have over me are the two master trials, a fair amount more of weapons, some master levels, and all the monstrosity you did. And those (or something else) are worth a lot more than all the other things I have done over you combined, I guess.

Congratulations Dex! That's quite an achievement! Also, thank you confirming that incremental progress in Monstrosity counts towards a rank up!

Long time lurker for this ever-evolving journey. Personally MR8 myself. Just wanted to say amazing work and contributions by you all, really appreciated. Even more so grateful for the awesome tracking add-on's that have been developed.

A few things I wanted to discuss, one serious, and another on a more comical "what if" theory.

#1 Is it possible, or rather do we believe that ALL BCNM's, even those without titles could potentially count? That is to say specifically ones that do not reward a title and are not tracked by the accomplishment NPC's. So for example BCNM 20 cap, 30 cap, ENM's etc.

#2 Hilariously, while sleep deprived, me and a friend at one point suggested getting married in-game to see if it contributes anything... The mere thought of all the MR8 and 9 gang eloping each other to test just *** sent me LOL.

How many Plaudits did you need to get the Venerated Adventurer title on this 9th round of Vana'bout?
I remember they changed something for the 9th round so that you didn't have to rank among the "first 10" but get "at least XX plaudits" to receive the title.
Was that XX just "700" I think?

Probably due to the entire rankings list being 1st places on the bigger servers. But you'd still have to do every single one including day 0. It's just so if you're not on the list but you still got the same amount of plaudits, you got the title.

For example, people who did everything showed up as rank 1 on the ranking list, but someone who did 1 less showed up rank X where the rank was based on how many 1s were ahead of it. At one point there were around 20ish rank 1s and the next person down showed up as rank 20+

I've been 6 since this came out and since then I've done a ton. Made an aeonic, finished TVR, got all wave 3 dyna clears, made an empy, vana'bout title, more jobs mastered, tons of various titles from bcnms/nms I hadn't done and more and yet I'm still 6.

I should honestly get that plugin because I bet it's something stupid that I'm missing and I'm just edging 7 lol I know the obvious things I'm missing (monstrosity, legion, master trials etc), but just from some posts I've seen around, I've seen some people who are 7 but have less bigger things done than I have done and that honestly confuses me.

Ok so the "different method to give away vana'bout title" was just total conjecture on players-side.

Though perhaps there is a misunderstanding about registering. It seems they may be saying "if you register, you'll get it even if your name doesn't show up (because the list is too full)" and not "you don't even need to register, it happens automatically." It seems, to me, that some people thought you didn't need to register with the moogle? Idk, I haven't been following this vanabout very closely.

Yeah so nothing changes except the annoying "bug" where people did place 1st but their name didn't appear in the list and they didn't get the title.
Which is good I guess.

Altough *personally* I still find the locution "first 10" still quite ambiguous, given how a lot of people will place 1st.
Where does the "first 10" place in that scenario, because clearly (and luckily) it's not the "first 10" of the 1st place, but it's regrettably not the people who placed on number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 on the ranking board either, given how we have no clue who placed after 1st and there's gonna be multiple people in each rank anyway.

It's the same system used by thousands of other organizations around the world, including several companies I've worked for.

If 5 people are tied for first, the next highest person is called 6th, not 2nd. Because they weren't 2nd. They were beaten by 5 people, how the hell are you gonna say they came in second?

I don't know if this is useful.

At 680 points I registered 3 with the mog @ 7.30am GMT, on the final day I logged all 3 again 7.30ish GMT. All 3 got the titles this morning. I did day 0 on all

It is useful, it means that you only needed to get 600 and register for the title.

I got 600 exact. Didn't register. No title. (didn't want it, just wanted the earring)

So after some days of work I managed to test this out and it looks *potentially* very interesting to level in a fast and efficient way.
Of course it only works for Monipulators where you have a BLM main version available, but that was implicit.

What you were probably taking for granted and I did not, in my ignorance, is that this method is not suited for "new" Monstrosity players at all, but only for somewhat advanced ones.

I was starting (almost) from zero, and after several days of work I managed to unlock the Scorp and Antlion Earth Elemental Mab instincts + the BLM one.
But those together with some other minor ones (tarutaru1&2) are nowhere enough to oneshot mobs in Bubu. At best I deal ~70% damage, so clearly I need I guess the Sandworm too, but that's *a lot* of work. A work someone will want to do regardless eventually (I do!) but need to know this in advance without thinking, like I did, that it would've been relatively fast to set this levelling method up.

"Necessary" things
1) Scorpion Instinct II
2) Antlion Instinct II
3) Sandworm Instinct III
4) BLM Instinct

4) is super easy, just 5k Infamy.

1) require you to get Scorpion to level 60, which implies you also need Beetle 60 (unlocks scorp), and Beetles is unlocked at the NPC for 3k Infamy.

2) Requires "just "Antlion 60, which is unlocked by bringing Scorpion to 60, so at least there's some synergy here.

3) This requires Sandworm level 90 which in itself is already quite a feat. To UNLOCK Sandworm you also need Leech to 70 and Slug to 70. Both will take a while. Slug is thankfully unlocked by Leech at 40, and Leech with 3k Infamy.


Now I'm not sure if you need more, probably not because the Sandworm Instinct requires 10 points and that will bring you exactly at 40 which is the cap for the level 30 adventures in Buburimu.
Still, just saying, while this is very nice please consider it's gonna take you a while to fully unlock it!
