It could just be an attempt to give the illusion that it will not end before the State of the Union this coming Tuesday. Also Republicans control the vote in the Senate so it could end up being a bunch of Biden’s voted to take the stand.

Yeah if sufficient Senators wish to question witness's then that's totally fine. I don't know any moderates who are against witness testimony, they are just against Democrat control over witness testimony, ala Schiff and the one sided Kangaroo court that the Democrats held.

I disagree with his principles, but he sticks by them unwaveringly in an age when most "conservatives" are weathervanes.

I will not like him an iota better if he testifies and brings Trump down, but I will say thanks.

A part that confuses me a bit, given the following 2 scenarios:

1) Person A overhears a conversation that person B is having with person C. Person A testifies.

2) Person A has a conversation with person B, fully interacting in that conversation. Person A testifies.

Are those both considered hearsay? Scenario 1 clearly is, but scenario 2 seems it would hold a little more significance in the testimony.

I’m no lawyer, but my understanding is that it’s hearsay either way if there is no hard evidence to back up your claim. That’s one major reason why “credibility of the witness” is a thing. It’s all subjective, though, and it can be really tough to hit the bar required to convict someone if hearsay is the foundation of your prosecution.

Wouldn't #2 be like a verbal contract? #1 a verbal contract with a witness? Both normally get thrown out and end with the judge telling person A to get it in writing next time. So many things involved. How was it worded? How could it be interpreted? Those things are impossible to judge when there's no evidence of the agreement other than two people recalling what "they" interpreted/remembered. Unless both parties agree on the terms in court of course.

Just seems like this would be a pretty comparable situation.

Well, that’s part of what is so funny about the way that establishment Republicans operate. They cower and cave when the media pressure hits them, thinking that maybe if they throw the media a bone they’ll get better treatment down the road. The aftermath often results in the kind of response that you gave. “Thanks, but you’re still a Republican and therefore we still hate you.”

Just look at Romney and McCain. They got eviscerated by the Left over the dumbest little minutia and then decided it would be a good idea to reward their haters and undermine their own party for fleeting media praise. It’s like the political form of Stockholm Syndrome. If Romney ran for President again the love affair would be over in a heartbeat.

John McCain is one of the biggest *** there was. I commend him for his military service. But he seemed like an unpleasant person. Wouldn't let personal grievances with Trump go. Holds on to grudges etc. Just the very definition of an ***.

Biden is a Democrat and Democrats are above reproach. Investigating him could hamper their plans to take full control of the US Government and thus should be a crime against humanity.
