People get killed everyday in this country and the only time people our outraged is when a gun ins involved.

If this *** would have killed people with a knife would there be the same outrage...probably not.

Well, just comparing the US and Europe in 2019 alone, the US is 11th in deaths from mass shootings per million citizens.

It doesn't have the most recent events updated in the results, but that doesn't matter. You cannot say other developed countries don't have mass shooting problems.

The White Nationalists that were there are garbage, but there were some good people there too. Which, like you said, clearly means the majority were bad...which reinforces your point.

The some good people he was referring to were the opposition to the white nationalists. He described them wearing black, having helmets and bats. They were the ones that started the violence by spraying urine and diarrhea on people.

You had the white nationalists, the antifa like protestors, and you had some people that were there from earlier that were protesting the removal of historic statues.

Just to clarify, he said the white nationalists and the neo-nazis should be condemned. But in the other group, you had some fine people, but you also had some trouble makers. They wore black, wore helmets, carried baseball bats. There were a lot of bad people in the other group as well.

But the media chose to run with the story that trump said white nationalists were fine people.

Compared to population size, it's absolutely relevant. The US was 10-12th from the data between 2009-2015. That includes rankings from actual deaths to frequencies of mass shootings. This year, they're still in the same range.

You cannot pretend that only the USA has mass shooting problems. It's felt all across the world.

It would be nice to see the total amount of shootings and the total amount of deaths, instead of just the rates. Its not enough information.

If only simple math could get you to those numbers. You have the amount of deaths per million, and you have the population in million...carry some 1's, bring down some 4's...and do the math. The information is all there.

granted this was a study that only went through 2015, but it includes more than just europe, USA, and Canada. And unless you believe that mass shootings were solved worldwide since 2015 except for the USA, still shows that the USA isn't the only one with mass shooting problems.

Um, a country with a larger population is more likely to have a higher count of individual events corresponding to its rate. That's basic logical reasoning.

There are states with extremely low mass-shooting rates per million residents, including some with very lax gun ownership laws. Just as it's not fair to conclude that Norway is so much worse than everywhere else based on one especially bad event, it's also not fair to conclude that any one low-population country (or state) is so much better than everywhere else based on the lack of a major event.

To the untrained eye (read: almost every eye out there), statistics that do not compare apples to apples may seem like a really big deal, forcing snap judgments to be made by people who really have no clue other than what the equally clueless media is telling them. There is a great deal of nuance behind the numbers that is being missed.
