It defies logic that gun owners would want to proverbially shoot themselves in the foot by giving up their rights. I don't trust the polls on this. I don't trust who they even call. I never get any call.
Fellow gun owners here in this thread, do you guys get calls from people asking if you are ok giving up your guns or ANYTHING close?
Chanti, I don't trust the intentions of gun grabber leadership. I do believe that there are kind hearted people that do believe in their heart, without malice, that gun control is good. I believe people in leadership positions, seize on that and manufacture new words and catch phrases and have their media give unbalanced coverage to their agenda, whilst ignoring the actual good that would contradict them.
And the second part, people want to ban "assault weapons" (which there is NO real term of that) and semi automatic weapons (which I will credit, a very accurate definition, especially in contrast to "assault weapon"), would be a clear violation of the 2nd amendment and latest supreme court rulings. Specifically DC Vs Heller.
A supposed ban on Semi Autos, would be the toughest fight your side could try to win. And from our view, if we give you an inch you guys take a mile on this. Your side cries for compromise, but I don't even think they know what compromise really means. A quick google search shows compromise definition as "an agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by
each side making concessions." What concessions are the gun-control side making to the gun-rights side? "uhhh ban certain guns or we ban them all??"
Good luck with banning semi-autos. I doubt it will happen. I think it would take an Amendment to repeal the 2nd, to do that. However, how the current states are situated, that is HIGHLY unlikely to ratify an Amendment so egregious to the birth of this nation. And I give it 10 years or less, before that would get reversed, just like the all fixing, all holy, all sanctimonious, Prohibition.
I appreciate the reply, I give you a +.
