But if you insist, to decrease insomnia:
Sleep in a pitch-dark room that's quiet or has only "white" ambient noise.
Lower the thermostat temperature in the bedroom 1-2 degrees colder than the living spaces in the home.
Don't watch TV, browse the internet, or play video games in your bed.
Make a pre-bedtime "routine" which "signals" to the brain that it's time for bed. Examples include warm baths, reading a book, etc.
Don't exercise within 6 hours of the time you intend to fall asleep.
If you take a nap during the day, do so in the morning hours.
Don't drink any caffeinated drinks within 10 hours of when you anticipate going to bed.
Don't drink any alcohol after dinner.
