1st time i did event I got Mimic on first chest. Decided to only do free orbs from then on. 2nd Orb I used I got really lucky and got Epaminondas's Ring on a Loud Thud Mars orb. I decided because I saw people getting lucky that I would use the 200M I got from selling the ring to futhur profit. I lost over 20M before I gave up. All garbage. Last 8 fights got Mimic. Rest of the fights probably only netted me like 3M. Back to only using free orbs.
Someone paid 200M for your ring? Where can I find these people, I got a ring that won't sell.

in my experience:
noise: junk mostly thud: up to omen gear but lower chance or cursed gear or junk loud thud: up to omen stuff, rings, other rarer stuff. Noise, noise, noise, noise, noise, loud thud. That's why it's possible to get 3 bodies if you get both thuds. Yeah we got regular thud body good stuff reports day one... but so far it seems a lot more likely on loud.
Problem is aside from odds of continuing on there might not be a loud thud in the group... or even a regular thud. Has there been any investigation into Greyson's line about AMAN reclamation? Between the limit on player orbs and the random mimic, I imagine not so much.
Other than JP button, the best way to get top rewards ought to be running a few Delves and WKRs for reclaimer trash before cracking open an orb (and blowing it on a mimic). While I wouldn't write off SE adding some awkward connection between reclaimers and Trove, I took those lines as just providing a bit of lore to the event.
The bit about taking more people resulting in more loot likely relates to Rare/Ex gear not even dropping if you already have it. Here's 2 shitty ones for ya; there were other shitty ones too, but no one cares about 7 noise 2 thud or 9 noise runs

I.e. gear and synthesis materials share a slot (?) Unless there is some trick to know where the mimic is (or if there is a party to fight whats not my case), personally i dont think its worth risking a chance for a gear just for thuds, considering they arent exactly common, but i just play safe. Like they say a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush

gyve doublet chastisers and...  much sad Not much data at all but I tried a HQ orb last month I got to open all boxes none were thuds and the last was Mimic sadly. I plan to just keep trying HQ as I can and no NQs. Maybe I'll stop being lazy and take my mules from 70 to 99 at some point for more chances/data.
Barring some dramatically different drop rates from Venus, FMPOV it's almost always better to get 2 Mars chances than a single Venus chance. Basically because all it takes is one mimic to *** up your entire month's allowance if you use a Venus.
Having that additional shot at "something" is better than any expected differential in drop quality. Router (ilvl pulse escha Great Axe) from loud thud.
