Been a while since I messed with FFXI's graphic settings. I'm loving these HD mods, but the one issue I have is the pixels seem to "shimmer" as I'm moving around. Once I stop, they gradually seem to stop shimmering and stabilize into a static image (pixels close to me stop moving first, pixels further away take a second or two to catch up.
Would adjusting MIP or Bump mapping help with this?

for HD texture, you need to remove all MIP Mapping

Wait, so with these texture packs installed, mip mapping needs to be turned off?

I have Mip mapping off in windower settings and still experience some of the pixelation at a distance or while moving, don't think that's the solution.

it's maybe due to the reshade shader, Reflective bump mapping shader give this issue, it's very noticable if its set high (and in Amelila preset, it's set very high)
try desactivate reflective bumpmapping

Hoping some kind of windower add-on gets released to allow mods to be used without overwriting files. I think more would use them then.
maybe this is something to bring up I the widower5 beta thread? (I'm not really sure of the context of that topic)

my 50c:
Always disable bumpmapping it also messes with the ambient light increase from windower.
i couldn't not see a difference with it on/off ( with normal lightning) so the graphical improvement from it seems to be negligible compared to the issues it brings up

With these HD zone mods, how much extra work would it be to fix “broken” cliffs/mountains?
It’s not Amelilia’s fault, but many of the older zones have incomplete mountain ranges, cliffs, and odd tunnel artifacts on the horizon that look pretty bad with drawdistance > 1.
I can post screenshots later if needed, but I suspect most of you know what I’m talking about.
Also, and perhaps more complicated, does anyone else have an issue with Valkurm Dunes and this weird horizontal water line showing up when it should be hidden behind a bunch of terrain?

I think with the first issue, it’s a matter of seeing mountains that you’re not supposed to see from that angle. Basically, it seems like (for instance), SE created a mountain facade at (D-7), but if you face it from (H-4), you see that it’s missing a big chunk because they never anticipated players having drawdistance set high enough to view it from that angle. The problem seems more common in older areas, such as Valkurm, Rolanberry, etc...

Is there an HD version of Valkurm that puts the sand back to a normal colour? I'm probably just spoiled by the beaches here, but the colour of that sand makes me want to vomit. That's not beach sand. It's piles of dirt next to water.

Do I need to re-run the Reshade setup each time I add new config files and/or HD mods?

Amelilia’s reshade instructions say to look for xiloader.exe in the Windower installation folder. I’m confused, as I don’t have this file, just Windower.exe
Anyone able to explain this to me?

For those experiencing "shimmering" textures using my mods: Try reducing your background resolution in the FFXI config utility. For example, if your computer has a screen resolution of 1920x1080, don't set your background resolution above 2048x2048. You should notice an immediate effect when playing the game again
(If you go to the FFXI HD Overhaul user page and click Community tab he has ongoing messages and updates for ppl)
