On a side note...no Rainbow chests after 10 opened with ANV key..

Apologies if I'm misunderstanding, because it's 5AM ...but, are you saying the gobbie box can momentarily appear Rainbow? I've never seen this before!

Does anyone have a better template to look at for those new gear sets? Looking at those one someone posted earlier is making my eyes bleed, lol.

yea its 2am here lol, I did read:
In addition to items that can be obtained from the existing anniversary dial, spoils from high-tier mission battlefields and high-tier avatar battlefields will also be included.
Also, for every ten treasure chests that you open, the chest will change to a rainbow color and boost your chances of getting high-tier mission battlefield and high-tier avatar battlefield spoils.
Existing Anniversary dial = using ANV Key I think, not sure, but I used 50 keys and no Rainbow color (They say after 10 opened boxes, it changes to rainbow.)

For every ten chests, do you mean 10 daily (50 points) chests?

Because I just traded 58 SP Gobbie Keys in one trade ...and he is giving me 58 items in succession (it's about 1 item/second, slow).

One of the 58 items stands out:

Edit: I'm not seeing the anniversary dial

Existing Anniversary dial = using ANV Key I think

Quote:
The festival dial requires the use of an #FES dial key that can be obtained during seasonal events.
* You can acquire one #FES dial key per day, and it will be reset at 12:00 a.m. JST (Earth time).

That new armor looks like a child ate a whole bag of rainbow gummies and threw up all over himself then wore their rainbow coloured vomit as an outfit for the rest of the day.

Some Japanese players are calling it “Gaming Armor”, haha.

If only there was a thing that allowed you to equip one piece of gear but show another.
If only! XD

I dunno, I kinda share the general idea that these sets aestetically suck and are completely out of place.
I don't have much to add to that.
BUT at the same time I kinda like that finally we get something so "different" from everything else, that stands out so much.

New armor seems to be better than malignance, worse than augmented odyssey or sortie, at a glance. It's a lot blander than other sets for the most part, statwise. Good fillin gear, but unless the augments have something really spicy I think it's for returners rather than serious endgamers.

Obviously a couple pieces have extra value by virtue of being in a slot that was otherwise underserved, like BRD legs. WHM seems to have gotten the short end of the stick. BLM and SCH got a sorely needed upgrade for folks who don't have Sortie done yet.

Honestly, seems to fill a necessary progression point. Goes well with the recent easing of malignance drops. If you were expecting new amazing gear from DI-tier content that just requires you to be present, you're likely feeling let down. But, it seems like good content design to me.

I think we didn't need for this "returning gear" to be divided in 3 qualities, the third one that will initially cost like 800m per piece.
Having a single quality for each set would've filled better the role imho.

If they wanted to throw a bone at crafters, and I understand the necessity for that, it should have been new crafted stuff, not tied to this new content focused for the goals Thorny underlined.

SE doesn't see the issue because "well, returning people who only have little gil, will be able to buy the NQ which will be very cheap!"
And... it's not wrong I guess.
But I dunno, I've never been a particular fan of NQ/HQ thing in general, especially way more so if there's 3 versions and it's for a "catch up" content.

I kind of agree that 3 versions is excessive. Gating it behind S4 shield was an interesting choice, too, since it probably limits NQs to what comes out of gobbiebox. Maybe since the HQs/HQ2s are still mostly underwhelming people will opt to synth without enchantment, but I kind of doubt it.

I question the availability of NQ when these recipes require a shield. HQ or bust, quite literally

Putting it behind a shield means NQ literally doesn't exist but +1 will be "reasonably available"

Except that you can't go to asura to buy it, so you're going to have to pool all 10 people on your server and make a shield to get them.

And that's if all 10 of you can manage to even farm the mats to make them. and then not gouge the guy you made the shield for, cause they're going to be impossible to get.

Not literally. You are not forced to use enhancement on the shield.

We all know there isn’t a crafter out there that is going to forego the enchantment to NQ what is most likely going to be a (initially) very expensive recipe.

Anyone with experience in FFXI could tell you what this will entail, especially considering we just saw, on this thread, some of this gear coming from gobbie spin.

NQ is trash for people who are poor and/or unmastered. It's worth basically nothing, and supply comes from gobbie spin, aman trove, etc.

HQ1 is the ***that disappoints crafters and sells for a loss. It's for middling players who don't want to invest too much in their character/job.

HQ2 is for the rich, Elite, well-connected mofos who want to BIS their ***. It will start off at absurd prices and eventually settle into "quite expensive".

It all comes down to the price and availability of the new mats.

Also: Eiryl is an idiot. Small servers have crafters, we don't need to SUDDENLY make a shield. We have plenty of them.

I was thinking more about giving mats to crafter and paying him to make you NQ with a chance for HQ. But probably it would be better for people to sell mats and buy hq1 for gils.

Where exactly do the craft mats drop for this new gear?

From the weekly limbus chests? from mobs within the new omega/ultima area? Another source entirely?

Update post seems to indicate they'll drop from the weekly limbus chests after the bosses have been killed.

For now I see the highest potential in SAM/DRG/RNG/COR set
I haven't calculated anything, but even base looks good for RNG and COR white damage setups. If they go a crazy road and add WSD augments here, this becomes by far the most OP WS set and opens path to Nyame A for DRG and SAM. Since Samurai is SE's golden child, I can easily see this happening.

Now the most realistic potential I see in Sworn set.
It is already pretty much bis idle set from survivability perspective. It has top tier meva with high DT and high HP+. If they let you augment it with enmity+, it will be a dream comes true tanking set for BLU, especially that spells would also benefit from Fast Cast cooldown reduction then. I can see "Refresh" and "Regen" as possible augments too.

Since some people were discussing it earlier, I thought I'd mention that someone posted on the JP OF bonanza thread today saying that on the livestream Fujito was considering the possibility of handing out bonanza kupons again.
Haven't watched the stream myself.
