If you have capability to enter and clear v1 and choose instead to clear v0, that is indeed a waste of segs.

I'd presume the person whos hand you're holding probably isnt up to snuff to be useful in a V25 fight and you'd be doing that fight short handed, so that would likely be a waste of segs.

I think you could carry a T1 V25. My win was the 'dry run' where people weren't eating HQ food or going full unga and we still smashed it. If you're getting carried I wouldn't suggest a V0 or a V1 to you, but that's just me.

The random reward system is one of the most disappointing things in this game.

Bingo. +1 cases in login points is fine, really. But it feels bad because it means either SE/Fujito still don't understand what players hate about Sortie earring RNG, or they do but aren't willing/able to address it.

Players: "This lootbox system is terrible and broken, please change it."
SE: "Nah. But here's a FREE* pity lootbox if you juice our daily login metrics!"

If you want every piece of gear handed to you for barely any effort at all go play FFXIV.

<... snipped a bunch of random babble about why XIV is easy ...>

That game might suit your playstyle more.

I know people talk past each other at times and not everyone here is great at ze English language, but I genuinely have no idea how you think my post is advocating for handouts. You've got it backwards.

I want a system to upgrade/refine/perfect Sortie earrings by playing Sortie, not more old cases "handed to us" from things like vanabout, trove, and login points. It doesn't have to be fast! If a player could take a single NQ earring and max it out in the same kind of time frame it takes to make a Stage 5 Prime, that would be fine(as long as they weren't competing for the same resource).

If you're out there doing 8 boss or better multiple times a week, seeing some rando get a better earring for a given job from a login point gacha pull is going to feel real bad, man.

He does. The initial post you were responding to was me saying the random reward system was disappointing. It's the epitome of a "handout". Getting a Crepuscular Cloak from AMAN Trove vs someone who has burned 300+ Shinryu fights and got nothing is quite literally a "handout". Getting a +2 earring with capped augs for little effort (or from your VanaBout rewards) where someone has been grinding Sortie for months and never received one is literally a "handout". Doing your weekly limbus climbs and getting minimal matters vs someone else who gets double or triple what you got, is a "handout". Just dumb.

That's really the problem: you'd think the effort would meet the reward, but they've introduced so many RNG reward systems that are disrespectful to your time and effort. Didn't the producer recently say he wanted to introduce things that were 'better on your time' (paraphrasing)? Besides them splitting campaigns and easing some of the requirements for older content (aimed at newer players), I haven't seen it yet.

The problem is that the time and effort you spend in Sortie is rewarded with armor and prime weapons. The content is worth doing even if the earrings didn't exist, so the arguments don't hold up.

This. Almost no one is doing Sortie specifically FOR earrings, those are just a nice little carrot that they dangle as an additional bonus to encourage people to come into Sortie. Some people don't care about Sortie outside of upgrading Empy armor. Some people just hop in to do some runs with friends and otherwise ignore the event. Maybe they get an earring that helps make it a little more worthwhile - a small token.

I don't see why it's all that strange to re-use the same random reward item in other places to drive engagement. More chances at something designed to be a random lottery that might reward you with crap and might reward you with something really nice is... fine?

Sortie had exclusivity for this little perk for a while, it's just getting slightly more widely available now to encourage people to do daily logins even if they don't care about Sortie. Sortie still obviously has a purpose, giving a random earring box or two a month is not killing the event that is the only way to upgrade Empy armor and make Primes.

Yeah, that's an accurate description of Sortie as it stands. The only argument I'm making is that Sortie would be better if earrings were a real part of the content and not an incidental bonus.

Kinda wild it's such a hot take.

Having the earring augments be a set bonus when equipping the prime weapon would open up a lot of possibilities and might've resulted in a wider selection of jobs on some of the primes.

So hey, just as an aside... remember how the first two prime stages had that "slowly devours your soul" thing on the stats?

I think it's kind of cool how they managed to apply that to the player rather than the character for the later stages. Very thematic.

So how many accounts is this? Dividing by 15 or 16 doesn't produce a whole number. :/

Sounds like they're getting a lot more confident with things to be willing to do that. I know it's probably just a series of queries and a process they use for sequential dbox sends, but in the past I never would've imagined they'd bother for something like this.

I hope that it demonstrates the "server side" improvements they've made are starting to pay off. If DB Access is easier, running queries is easier, and applying changes like that are easier it implies a team with better knowledge of what is possible.

It's more surprising to see them take responsibility and demonstrate some kind of care for customer experience.

Running ad-hoc queries has no cost on the DB side, it has a cost on the human side.

Someone has to write it specifically, which means paying someone to write a one-off thing for XI. Previously there was no one to do that.

In before SE adds a neck to the game with 350 HP, 100 MP, +50 to all Stats and +50 to all native combat/magic skills*

* must be ML50/su6 to equip it.

https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Hoxne_Earring

Ok its an earring and not a neck.
The stats aren't quite as gaudy.
The method to get the full effect is worse.

Makes me wonder if SE reads the forums and trolls us. In before....
