you're the only one who said it's an anti-rmt measure, i just said it degrades the gameplay path

however you feel about the last 7 years, it's pretty obvious that giving fresh players a way to jump straight to the highest gear/content without contributing will result in attrition.. there's not really any point arguing if you don't understand that much

edit:
catchup gear like unauged odyssey gear serves a purpose: it gets your stats high enough to be somewhat viable in a variety of content without removing the incentive to actually engage in top content

if all you need to do to get full emp+3 is join a group that isn't already 18/18, you have next to no reason to do any other content because every upgrade after that is relatively marginal

since sortie is the primary ongoing endgame, you no longer have any reason to learn to play or improve your sets either, since you can just continue to sit in your group until you have a prime

This this topic is centered around Sortie, let me remind you that the barrier to entry is clearing all of SoA and all of RoV, which also involves getting though a decent portion of the previous expansions as well.

The only "fresh player" in Sortie is someone who has previously been banned and knows what they're doing, and even that will still take some time. Theres no "fresh off the boat" player getting to Sortie in less than a month, and thats being generous.

getting through mission lines justifies skipping to top endgame gear? the hardest mission in SOA is easier than:
delve
sinister reign
vagary
escha
omen
dyna-d
lilith
odyssey t1v0
and pretty much anything else you might get gear from..

again, you're taking a several hundred hour gameplay progression and cutting it to 5 hours of 'follow someone with sneak/invis on and dont afk and hold them up'

AND

you're taking the biggest long-term goal the game has(prime weapons) and reducing them to daily logins by removing the need for each person to contribute

The last TVR mission is pretty difficult to clear for someone new and pretty impossible solo, and also requires you do enough Sortie to upgrade to a stage 2 weapon.

don't need the last tvr mission to sit in sortie and leech a full set of +3, you just have the limit

if the argument is that sortie should be more accessible so the mission line can be completed, then eh.. i kind of agree on that point, but it's still dwarfed by the impact it'd have on the game

something like they did for vagary where you can fight a seperate bc against upstairs bosses would be nice. don't eat sortie timer for helpers, but only reward is a one-time stage 2 prime

Without the last TVR mission your Sortie muffin cap is 100k and you cannot leech a full set of +3.

You can leech one +3 at a time, then need to keep upgrading.

And you definitely cannot leech a prime weapon past stage 2.

i didn't say you could leech a prime weapon without completing tvr, but are you arguing that completing the missions and logging in once a day should eventually get you a prime..?

i'm honestly just baffled at the attitude here, it seems patently obvious that reducing the longest term content to login and idle would be bad.. but whatever, i'll just have to be glad that SE sees it my way

I didn't say you should get a prime for logging in each day either.

In another ten years SE might just give out free stage 5 prime vouchers though.

The point is "top endgame gear" is very soloable if you don't mind it taking a few weeks per +3. But it's there for you to do.

Not doing it is just laziness. Same as not grouping up with anyone to get V1 clears.

You don't need V1 clears. You only need one clear that awards RP, then you can augment any armor you have up to rank 15.

Call it nitpick, but there are people who mistakenly think they need a V1 clear for the specific boss they want to aug armor for. Knowing that isn't necessary will save them 3k segs that are probably harder for them to come by than they are for us.

That is kinda force u to pay 15 bucks for 15 case +1 <== More than what u regular run Sortie in the months .. ya I agrees, if u not 9boss .. 16/months is indeed a lot
I used 4mules regularly ... but for someone who often only use 1 main + 1 mules .. this is almost double the sub fee

Logging in 15 characters is a big chore ... it takes~ 1 min if u do NOTHING. The 30 sec logging off IN TOWN should be cut down to 5 sec really. 30sec outside to prevent people from cheating death with log off is logical, but in town is incomprehensible

Someone already point out ... beastman seal still 10 point so it is doubling up price of KC BCNM60. Besides, if +1 box would always drain ur point ... the BS might not be "issue

Grouping up with anyone to clear V0/V1.

Someone that only has V0 clears doesn't need to be told they need a V1 clear. They know because they lack the ability to augment anything. Once they do clear anything above V0, they will know they can augment anything they already have because they will be able to augment it.

What if they don't check? That's on them.

Personally I always do V1 clears for people so they get some points and can open their augments and make themselves feel better. It's not very fun to get Nyame clears on V0 only to find out you have no RP to even open an R1 augment.

Don't be that guy.

it is largely the shift from horizontal to vertical progression, which naturally followed as a result of increasing the level cap and the addition of ilevel, but ramped up considerably in recent events such that old 119 and new 119 isn't even remotely comparable. and if the adjustment to lilith is any indication, the next shift up is already in the works and will invalidate even more old stuff. no wonder people want to skip stuff. it is an actual waste of time especially when it is required to get to the next step in that sequence when an easier alternative exists.

If I hadn't had to be the guy who had to explain why people didn't need to waste segs on multiple V1 kills...

If someones entering V1 as their first time, that means they're being carried by someone who already has clear.

Also does the moogle not say says "the limit for X is now 15" even on a V0 clear or do you have to atleast clear V1 for that? I tried checking my logs, but I must have deleted/lost those ones from too far back.

It's not that a V1 costs more than V0, it's that players aren't understanding that a V1 clear is satisfying two separate conditions, one of which only needs to be done once. We tie them together because kill two birds, but not every new player picks up on that.

It doesn't matter either way. A V1 will get you a clear and some points to put into an R1.

A new player, without their hand being held, cant enter V1 without clearing V0

If you’re carrying someone, why not bring them into V5 in that case? Its not like V5 has a massive difficulty jump from V1 and they can get a bit more RP for augmenting (12 vs 68, so something gets the big ol Rank 2)

Like how come these topics always move goalposts

It starts with “new players need to go through the hoops” and then “new players” always wind up being someones banned replacement or someone getting their hand held the entire time.

New players are the one thing FFXI doesn't do well. Their initial start is so terrible, I advise people not to even bother.

Maybe those new players don't deserve ffxi or experience the joy of obtaining a prime

Again, if you're holding someones hand, why are you bringing them into V1 instead of V5 so they can get more RP and credit for a higher tier kill so when they go on their own, they can jump right to V10?

Why stop here though? If you're gonna make the segs useful, do a V25 Gogmagog or something they want to RP.

I'd presume the person whos hand you're holding probably isnt up to snuff to be useful in a V25 fight and you'd be doing that fight short handed, so that would likely be a waste of segs.
