prepping ahead of time, probably. the event rolls out mid-month, so it's not like they're doing a patch for that specifically. There was an archduke event last month.
By Foxfire 2025-10-11 13:28:28
yes, i'm aware. i'm saying they probably added the items to the files with the first roll-out but wanted to phase in the weapons later (e.g., the second run)

It's because of the FFXIV crossover thing. Shadow Lord is a thing that FFXIV players might be familiar with from the first set of raids. I'm assuming Kam'Lanaut is something they'd see in the second set. So they're laying down both the Shadow Lord and Kam'Lanaut special events three times this year, and they've said so... I think every single time they made an announcement about either of those this year?
They've also said that the curator moogle's going to be around to hand out related items each time, and so far we've seen the same items available for Shadow Lord round 1 and 2, no reason to assume it'll be any different for blondy slumperton.

Other stuff from the AMAN live from a reddit summary.
"Imprimaturs would break a lot of things if they made them 10 minute charge"
"Limbus: didn't want people who were too busy to take out NMs to suffer (lower population servers may only have a few people who take them on)"
"Malignance drop rate hasn't changed from before, just that you'll get a piece on repeats whereas before you wouldn't. Instead of hitting your head against a wall with Malignance, they want you to get the gear and be able to work on the next set of stuff."
"Bahamut world lockdown. If other worlds have similar issues, they'll lock them down too (they specifically mentioned Odin as a candidate they're watching). With Bahamut they locked it down early to keep it from getting as bad as Asura was with server congestion."
"Halloween event will be coming. That's why they split the monthly campaign, to give people more time to take part in the Halloween event. Two of the new Ilm set pieces will drop from this event."
"Shadow Lord event returns for the third time.
Final pieces of Ilm set will be available from these. Also the items to weaken OG Dynamis bosses (Valkurm/Qufim) will be available. Edit: Green pumpkin furniture too from Curator."
"They added the enspell stuff to the sword but "to tell the truth, we wanted to make a special weapon skill for this weapon, but it was impossible even though we tried", as far as development resources go. "If you want us to get rid of something else so we can make it, we'll look into it hahaha". "If by chance we become able to do it, we might release a New Archduke Sword hahaha". They said they wanted to release items that aren't just appearances."
"Next month they're going to have their semi-yearly broadcast もぎたてヴァナ・ディール (edit2: Freshly Picked sorry, I have no idea what this is called in English. Broadcast about the state of the game they do every 6 months) and talk more in depth about what's coming with/after the November update."
"Currently there's bugs in Sortie re: mobs not popping etc. It's going to take a little time to fix. Sometime in the middle of next week will be a maintenance for it (probably don't have to take down server for it)."
So it sounds like 1 Ilm piece from login, 2 from Halloween, and 1 from Kam event + 1 from shadow lord event. Of course, it seems they forgot to add them to a storage slip.
By K123 2025-10-11 15:06:23
ok they can't let us have 10min imps, so let us use up to 5 per assignment to burn them faster (do less repeats of mind numbing ***).

I think energy drain/steal can be merged into one WS to make room without issue.

Multi-post aside removing the "lower" tier ele ws wouldnt be the worst thing, burning/shining blade, shining strike, frostbite, etc if the goal was to free up space

I'm not sure how much the "balance" matters here but:
Burning is available to all jobs, RLB is only certain jobs. Ditto Shining/Seraph. Frostbite/Freezebite/Herc Slash have different SC properties.
There isn't...much...? Or any...? Exact duplication of WS, though I agree that the "fun" or "balance" of having these extremely mildly different WS isn't something anyone would miss.

Would just erase the lower one and improve the higher one to include everything the lower one had.
But put the skill requirement at the level of the lower one
Theres no point in 2 fire sword ws, 2 drain ws, 2 ice gs ws, 2 light sword ws
Not only does it delete pointless ***, it declutters the menu. bonus.

The improved versions just get an extra sc element added on don't they? My thought was just take out the lower one and make the higher all jobs as I don't think making something like RLB, energy drain, shadow of death, and so on all jobs really impacts anything long term, if anything it makes red proccing in aby easier i guess? Again that's if the wall here is just ws slot space

Unless you wrote that while I was typing my post, I literally just told you the point in having them and how they're different.
It's like saying there's no point in having Hard Slash and Crescent Moon. They're both physical GS WS with a Scission property that don't crit. Delete one of them!
One is more powerful, comes later, and has different FTP/WSC. It's a different WS.
Again: I don't think the balance of the game sits on the knife's edge of whether or not we have these minute differences in WS that people rarely use, I'm just saying: they aren't the same thing.
Even Energy Drain/Steal are different, Energy Steal is worse than Energy Drain (and it's also NOT an abyssea proc).

On that note, I'd just delete all of these They are literally clones that waste a slot (if they do, they could just fake the ws name)

You are WS spaghetti code cap, that’s the way it is. Don’t delete stuff, why can’t you just take those “useless” WS, associate them to a weapon that make them “useful” (any endgame weapon is that, so is ambu). Just scale it up, add a property on that weapon using a RP system while at it. There’s millions of way to go thru it.

Honestly, seeing as they have been reusing low level models for actual gear, I totally expect we could eventually get a 119 weapon that says "Unlocks Knights of Rotund true potential" (or something) and the WS is suddenly actually pretty good.
The player survey and all their other metrics also show exceedingly clearly that the playerbase LOVES when SE reuses/upgrade old stuff in new ways.
With the exception of Sortie, it should have been in Rakaznar Inner, not outer, dammit.

Why does this logic not get applied to Shinryu?
"to tell the truth, we wanted to make a special weapon skill for this weapon, but it was impossible even though we tried", as far as development resources go.
Never believe them when they use the word "Impossible".

Why does this logic not get applied to Shinryu?
Because this logic isn't being applied to the rarity of drop rate by itself, it's being applied to the position that Malig gear is viewed as the entry point into endgame, base line armor, by the community. Noone forms groups for it anymore, instead you see an army of solo thfs and other jobs going to acquire it, just about every stream vod I browse through feels like there's always a Lilith solo section included. Almost a rite of passage for newer players, to solo Lilith before even attempting harder/other content.
Shinyu is not this case, none of its a baseline and don't even need crep cloak to cast impact, Twilight cloak will suffice in most cases especially with ES.
There's also a meme amongst the JP communities that malig gear is "Uniqlo gear", I don't really know how to explain it so can try to Google to understand it.

To anyone wondering:
Uniqlo is a famous casual clothing brand here in Japan known for affordable, high quality basics (think plain tees, jeans, and hoodies that everyone owns multiples of). A majority of the population probably owns or has owned a Uniqlo shirt or pants. So just as Uniqlo clothes are ubiquitous, comfortable, and no fuss wardrobe staples that get the job done without being luxurious, Malig gear is basically the vanilla, mass market option in Vana'diel.

Uniqlo is an excellent brand. They are expanding into the US as well, there are quite a few locations in the New England area. They also do affordable and quick adjustments in-store.
...Japan's definition of no-frills still entails quality manufacturing, unlike ours.
By Dodik 2025-10-12 08:02:24
Very popular in Europe too.
As is Muji, another Japanese brand.

Sadly Muji went enshittified, at least in Portugal and Spain. New stores sell mostly overpriced generic synthetic crap, the cool stuff they had a decade ago is all gone.

Is there a reason why the GoV books don't have training missions for Apex/Locus mobs? I would love a more simple way to gain tabs. I hate using gil on survival guides.

Just another thing in the game they should update, but won't
