I'll never forget returning during this time and seeing a /yell for MNK MNK MNK MNK WHM for a delve and not knowing wtf was going on for that setup.
And the shouter was a MNK.

A good number of Abyssea NMs were not pickup friendly until much later when we had much better abyssea gear and multiple atmas, tons of temps, and better cruor buffs. Delve, Vagary, and higher tiers of Escha were similarly not pickup friendly at first.
Content eventually becoming pickup friendly doesn't mean much.
Nonsense. SE making content where completing it meant you became dramatically stronger very quickly in that content and exclusively in that content means quite a bit in the context of establishing designer intent about a timeline.
Abyssea had all those atmas and temps and cruor buffs because you really were supposed to be able to solo/lowman it after a little start-up effort without necessarily becoming more powerful anywhere else. It was a good system they already understand and knew worked - and they used the same theory again in Escha/Reisen - but specifically decided not to use here.

The entirety of the games existence has hinged on finding and retaining competent slaves to get stuff for you "team members". It's always been the only real challenge, sifting through trash for the ones with just enough braincells to be helpful and not enough braincells to understand they should be in a different group. No. The game USED TO be that way. For years before Odyssey it was solo/pug friendly.
Ok. I seriously need some clarification on this point. When was the newest gear in the game available via solo efforts within its 1st year of release? I clearly wrote solo/pug. Also solo I included 2 boxing. You could do abbysea with mnk whm to farm empyrean armour etc. I'd need to look at the timeline to see which content came out when but I mostly meant pug.

This entire conversation is exhausting. Bunch of crabs pulling each other down further and further into negativity.
I empathize, it hurts a bit to see things change in a way you’re not so crazy about. Comparing things now to the thrill you experienced during that first boat ride to Aht Urghan, that much sought-after NM drop, breaking through new content like delve, riding a changing “meta” with the job you love, makes these new things you don’t find so exciting hurt all the more. But, for gods sake, for your mental health, if you’re so beaten down by new content then perhaps it’s time for a break or time to quit. You’re clearly not getting any joy out of it.

Not sure if that is aimed at me but I haven't played for years. The last time I paid for FFXI is at least 2 years ago and that was only for a month.

To address the thrill and excitement though... Abyssea was amazing and exciting, so was, Delve, Omen etc. at first. Maybe it is my/our age but I don't really think anyone had that same level of excitement when Odyssey was released like this. It was clearly going to be a grind fest and a 2nd job from day 1. Actually, Dynamis 2 wasn't really very exciting either.

Was a little but everyone was mainly upset about the 1 day lockout and no ability to hold a KI in advance/npc that did and pre-gaol there just wasnt much worth rinning it for beyond the augment mats

You can admit you miss the game despite all your negativity, this is a safe space. We're all addicts here. If I missed it I would play it. The last time the game was really enjoyable was probably Aeonics and Omen for me, but then I didn't play for 4.5 years before that either.
Also, the question was why I come on the forums. I come here for that reason. I feel like Empyrean +3 armor would be like a closure. The game feels odd and incomplete without it.

This, actual game mechanics wise I think the game is the best its ever been the slow combat just wasn't that enjoyable back then. Back then it was about the people you played with, helping them and them helping you just like one big family which the game is missing for the most part.

Sure it's not like hnm days but it's still a forced daily play and requires scheduling your life around the game. The fix is simple to allow 3-4 moglophone to store.

I'm sure they will at some point; even Omen started off with only letting you hold 1 canteen, so Odyssey almost certainly will once they're done adding content to it. It's just happening slower both because of slower content updates in general and the larger number of content updates to Odysseym

Currently, it's anything but simple. The lines would be in the thousands for weekends with groups stacking phones.

Even if the queue ended up that long people could always go back to doing runs during weekdays if they wanted to avoid congestion. We've been used to that from the start.

I still think the Bumba set was a stupid addition and bad game design even if they fix access and I return to obtain it. It will probably make many empyrean+3 obsolete on launch which is just stupid.

I'm going to counter that with what's currently going on with Omen. Because they added new content via the entry queue for Omen, there is (on Asura) no time when I play where Omen isn't at least moderately congested. It's really annoying right now, because I'd like to get cards during campaign, but there's almost always at least a 5-10 page wait to get into omen right now, if I try at an actually busy time, it's 25-30.
To the point that I just don't really do omen anymore at all.

Everybody on Asura knows you have to finish your cards BEFORE the campaign starts, lest you endure the awful lines. Joking.
The bad wait times are expected, but they are also almost always the worst at key times, which are avoidable. To the point made, you can honestly just ignore card farming during campaign whenever it's peak times (early evenings, weekends) and you don't have more than a mild 15-20 minute wait at most at other times. Do something else (Odyssey line is quick, Ambu line is quick, also less people hogging up empyrean NMs in abyssea). You should use any congested periods of time in one area to take advantage of something else. And when the Omen lines go down, knock them out all at once.

To begin with, the people who can only play on weekends aren't the type of players Odyssey has been aimed at. They wouldn't have made much progress to date.
Withholding QoL for the majority of the playerbase just because of Asuran (weekend) players doesn't make much sense. Hopefully SE sees it the same way since they said during the AMA they would look into changing the KI system.
Finally, the game doesn't just revolve around Asura even if certain updates make it seem that way. They were still meant to benefit all servers equally. Not to mention JP players have likely been asking for a change to the KI system as well, and they mainly congregate on other servers.

Yeah those early days folks hadn't figured out much of the damage phases for the boss's and formless strikes let them bypass some of them. Little known fact at the time was that Requiscat did the same thing only it wasn't tied to a JA and auto-attacks. And the first "super broke delve weapon" came off of Tojil who was usually the first / easiest to kill.
