Who cares for all those complaining about the extra fee you should have bought a security token years ago. As it came with a free storage.

And well storage is a luxury..... pay up save time or waste it. You are not entitled to it.... because.....

i think you can still get that "free storage" that came with the token by downloading some android app, but i believe it asks for some rather sensitive permission like phone rights or something like that.

*edit* just checked the app store, anyone know why the security token app has a rating of 2.9?

Because the token app by SE is garbage compared to using the Microsoft/Google authenticator in leu which is now possible, and no none of them ask for sensitive information.

Said this pages ago, but the problem isn't that it costs money. The problem is that it is a terrible solution that costs money. I will once again point out that a prismatic wardrobe would be easy to implement by simply storing 22 wardrobes worth of info on the server and loading in the one for your current job. The server is still the authority on everything, so it doesn't cause conflicts with rare items, it doesn't enable exploiting, and best of all: you can't change your jobs in the field, so instead of populating 2 more bags you only populate one more, keeping load times down.

Users would likely even have less item density in their existing bags after the fact, so it might even take less server traffic. This is a solution that's been mentioned numerous times, is fully attainable, and would actually solve these problems entirely. All your ambuscade capes, su5, dyna necks, af, relic, emp go straight in the job's wardrobe. Suddenly you have 200 more free spaces AND you don't need to use porter moogle.

If they added a solution like that and charged $8 a month for it, they'd be making the same money(or more) than they are now, but they'd have done something to earn it and solved a problem for the players. Adding 2 more basic wardrobes just kicks the can down the road a little bit, while still keeping all the issues that our current system has.

I like the prismatic wardrobe idea. Probably wishful thinking as it doesn't provide the carrot-on-a-stick methodology of income.

I don't understand what their objective is and I'd be curious to know. Are they wanting a resolution to the issue or how to milk it long-term?

What really irks me is: if this turns out to be (as it seems) "just" an expansion of the wardrobe... why did they took so long?
If all they wanted was milking more money from us, why all the fuss about developing new storage methods, quoted so many times in their interviews?

If it's "just" that they could've given this to us 2+ years ago, we already had lotsa people asking for it.
I really do not understand but this makes me believe there's gotta be more than just a "quick, we need to milk more money from our users!".

you've been around for too long to spout such naivity.

maybe they thought odyssey would be a mad success, everyone would buy the new sets and toss all their old stuff? we'll never know.

They're about to add 22x5 Empyrean +2 and +3 + new items to make them.

They're avoiding the shitstorm. That's all.

They could've added the inventory years ago, but doing it NOW makes it look better. And you're all excited about getting a basic need met instead of going why the *** did I stay subbed on the promise of Empyrean reforge for a decade.

I understand your logic, but not sure what you really want us to do? Stop paying so they will stop severs? I understand that game is a burden and income for you at the same time and you are tired of it, but you are glued to income too much to quit on your own? So you want us to make them stop it to free you from choosing between $$ and quitting on your own?

Cool, the problem is we want to play it, so going full revolt is not really an option. There must be more subtle solution to show them we don't like it.

Another problem is that they dont see problems that you can notice only outside of Japan. Shaol C or Dynamis lag is not a problem for Japan playerbase, so it doesn't exist.

They investigated improving it with better ideas and found they couldn't deliver that due to most likely lack of manpower (budget) to deliver whatever the engineers they spoke with suggested. They mentioned they were speaking with outside engineers on the subject previously.

This is them... delivering something.

I suppose they shouldn't have publicly shared some of their proposed ideas prior to investigating whether or not they'd be able to do them.

This doesn't matter because the porter moogle exists.

Porter moogle exists, but doesn't matter. It has been existing, doesn't mean people still aren't bitching about inventory. And now they're going to be carrying at least 15 pieces (3 jobs) more.

It's comical watching the junkie hoards with Stockholm syndrome defend SE against any and all criticism. The reason this game is in the tank is because of the player base and their lack of expectations, lack of backbone to demand better and lack of imagination to change and do something different.

This is typical when you deal with legacy applications and code. It typically goes like this:

1. Feature is requested by PM
2. Developer implements test version of feature
3. Feature is demoed/discussed
4. Feature is tested and a conflict is found, something is going to exceed expected costs, or someone gets butt hurt over it
5. Feature is pulled, crappier alternative is provided

It happens all the time. I can't speak to what the issue was here obviously, but my guess is they felt the player base would accept the cheaper/less labor intensive version and tossed the more elegant solution. In my experience they typically don't realize there is an issue until late in the process and realize they jumped the gun. I can almost see the meeting in my head, because I've been in several where similar decisions were made and it almost always follows the same path.

It's equally likely they implemented it, there were no technical issues, but someone just didn't like it and they scrapped it for no real reason outside of the boss not liking it

It's also possible they did something to optimize item transfers, which is the better solution all around IMO. I doubt it and expect to be just as disappointed when they didn't, but it is possible.

I don't think most people realize how compartmentalized development of various features and systems were. Fujito used to be in charge of non-mainstream gameplay like chocobo raising, MMM, fishing, etc. When Matsui returned after a couple of years on XIV, he had to spend time to get used to the codebase and tools again, despite having spent years of his life on the project previously. It honestly sounds like a pretty terrible situation.

I wonder if they even had a universal style they used across the codebase or how different each component is...

I said it before, and I'll say it again. That's ONE *** coffee a month.

if you have 3 characters...

stopped reading there.

if you can *** spend upwards of $100 a month to multibox/solo your way in an MMO (which is a silly concept in practice), then an extra $4/month per character should be chump change.

8 bucks/month/char is an extra 61% of the char's sub. The concept that 'because 12.95X is ok, then 20.95X is ok' is absolutely absurd, as is the coffee analogy. More money is more money, and if you don't think about incremental price rises then you're either a multi-millionaire or a moron.

I don't keep sentimental garbage and I know how to use plugins, so I haven't had inventory problems in years. Keep on licking SE's boots though, I guess.

literally nobody cares. stop being poor. or don't pay for it if you don't need it. it's that simple. complaining the way you are implies you know any better than the ones providing the service, which you aren't so shutting the *** up is your only course of action here.

Keep on being the worst poster on these forums.

Yup. Remember when SE was trialing allowing us to be able to change our menus and HUDs. They invited users to the test server to test it out, and then... nothing. It was scrapped.

I don't even have wardrobe3 on any of my characters, so this does not effect me in any way whatsoever. I'm just pointing out that if people actually held SE to account for their shitty behavior, there are ways they could give you much more than another copy-paste wardrobe.

It's not about being poor, it's about understanding that SE is pissing on you and calling it rain. My house and cars are paid off, I have healthy investments, and I'm not worried about money. You very well might be rich in comparison to me, or you might have a middle class salary and piss it away on small purchases because planning ahead is too difficult. I don't really care. It has no bearing on the fact that they could have done much more for us than stalling for 2 years only to hand out a copy/paste wardrobe that took minutes to implement.

I guess you must've ignored the part where people have been requesting this feature for years now and will happily pay whatever money is necessary to obtain it.

It's almost like you're not forced to play this or support SE. Remind me again how they are making you pay them anything? Just quit already and 'stick it to the man'. That'll sure show them!

Not only do we not know how much these will cost yet (assumptions are cool, tho), we also don't even know what they're adding yet, or what other changes they've made to how they work. You're bitching about something we have no details about yet aside from their name.

If you want to hold "SE accountable for their shitty behavior", stop *** playing and go away. That is literally the only power you have over them, use it. Or, you know....don't buy the thing that you have no use for anyways and be on your merry way?

Congratulations on contributing absolutely *** all to this thread.
