You literally have to be wired differently to be in special forces. Simply being good in a fight means you're not wired normally. Because being good in fight requires experience in fights, and people who are wired correctly don't go looking for fights. Fights hurt, even when you win, let alone when you lose.

That I know from experience.

To inflict that much discomfort on yourself for the good of your country requires a dedication to ideology. You keep saying things about loose canons, but that's not the only type of ideologue there is.

Not every person with that kind of ideological dedication is a *** kill-crazy psycho. But they do have a level of dedication to a cause above and beyond. And getting strong, virulent, young men who you can get dedicated to that cause is the best target audience to recruit.

Your wrong about the entire structure and purpose, just like 99.9999% of society. Most combat exchanges are over in under 30 seconds with the losing side not even knowing they were in one. You were wrong about the targeting of ideology, that's just *** backwards. SpecOps folks are a tight knit family, those *** live eat and sleep with each other and must have 100% trust in each other to cover their backs. That doesn't come from ideology. Believe it or not, most of them disagree with much of the ***the government does, they have a job to do and trust their bother thinks the same. All that political nonsense goes away when the two way riffle range begins, you fight and die for your brother next to you not some government official or general.

Thinking that soldiers fight for causes was your mistake. They fight for each other, not for some grand cause.
