Did you test it in different scenarios?
Is there a STP threshold below which Anu is better and viceversa?
How much better in terms of dps?

Leaving neck slot aside 5/5 Malignance with Aurg+1, 1 STP ring and STP on cape is a total of 91 STP
3/5 Malignance with Zoar+1 and STP cape is 64 STP
3/5 Malignance with Zoar+1 and DW cape is 55 STP

Can add 54 STP to those value if you wanna factor an average SAM roll.


Are you saying that in all these scenarios Anu is always gonna beat Clotharius regardless?
I guess the same applies for Aurg+1 beating Paeapua then.

I'm wondering why you keep using Ginsen as a metric vs Paeupua? it's been replaced and is beaten even by an NQ Aurgelmir.

How does Black Halo fair against Savage Blade for RDM? Assuming BiS for both.

It's good but it's also a lot harder to cap attack.

What rings for SB would you guys use? I have Epamindoas ring, but not sure what to use for the other one that's not the adoulin ring. Since I have volcane +1

/BLM is just fine, pulls die in 1-2 mins max anyway and /SCH gets time gated by stratagems recast.

Should be able to hit even Wave 3 mobs with proper support and Distract 3(save for NIN/THF commanders maybe)

Suppose one doesn't have either an Epam or Karieyh - what is the next best ring combo? Metamorph/Shukuyu maybe? Also interested in how this applies to Black Halo.

I'm currently using Karieyh +1 and Shukuyu, but have been considering swapping Karieyh to a Weatherspoon for the bonus to Seraph Blade. Not sure if the gains are worth it though.

Rufescent Ring is okay.


As far as Weatherspoon goes- if you're at all serious about Trueflight or Seraph Blade, then it's something you should have.

stupid question, is it better to main hand an r25 Crocea Mors and off hand Sequence? or vice versa?

Crocea (assuming you’re using enspells), sequence is hotgarbage 9/10 times. Get yourself a thibron and you won’t look back (or a tauret).

Where would a RDM with Naegling/Tauret and a mediocre TP set go to solo farm CP during the campaign? Is there a recommended trust setup?

I would advise on getting the Ambu bow for SC usage

You will be doing -
Savage Blade (Q) > Chant du Cygne (E) > Empyreal Arrow (Q) > Savage Blade (Q)

If you are unable to make this SC you might need to work with another DD until you get access to Temper 2 or a better tp set

Trust can be Brd Brd Cor Whm Tank - Make sure to distract/frazzle and Dia3 at the start of each fight (the cor will mess up your SCs - I would call him out - let him put chaos on and then put up another trust. If that's too much work you can do without)

Apex bats or crabs out in Dho Gates Via Foret De Hentnetiel Homepoint warp.

you can use Dagger main for either, and spam evisceration. you can speed up the crabs by self Skillchaining > multi-magic bursting if you have a decent enough magic burst set, and just energy drain for like 3k+ any time you get hard up for mana.

I like bats better tbh since evisceration does better on them- but you wont have the luxury of magic bursting - so play to your strengths. Even when i was just starting off on rdm, it was possible to solo 100 JP an hour out there outside of the campaign as long as i really kept to it.

There might be better places to go depending on your gear, but in my experience that was fairly solid.

Big Two are:

Croc + Daybreak if your spamming sanguine/Seraph
Naegling + Thibron

Some other oddball combos ive found to be fun

Croc + Thibiron if you want a offbrand savage blade setup but dont want to give up your enspell hits
Croc + Blurred knife +1 + ullr or Murg + Anything + Ullur: if you want self skillchains
(this one can a bit hard to pull off without using a multi hit offhand like blurred/demersal, AM3 murg or sam roll to help your TP Average per round).

The SC i use normally use for this is : Emperyal > Requie(Frag) > Savage/Death Blossom (grav) > CDC (disto) > Emperyal (Fusion) > Savage (light) > CDC (light)


i think in terms of just savage blade damage? if you dont have the Naegling, itll beat the croc in savage blade.

i think the consensus is that Nae > Sequence when not attack capped, but Sequence > nae when attack capped?

Croc is only nice when solo (since you can keep a pretty respectable 20-30kish sanguine blade going for 1ktp with beefy enspells), or when your fight calls for big elemental damage output (like seraph on yilan or something), or for enspell locking geas fetes.

Anyone know whether or not the Maxentius would beat out the Ammurapi shield on a burst set as an offhand for the rare occurrences im bursting on sub nin or dnc?

I had that exact same CDC set, but I started using R15 Imperial Wing Hairpin recently, since its only about a 6 DEX loss with max unity. Still not sure which one comes out ahead, so I went with the 10 Critical Hit Rate, since RDM is so starved for it. Anyone know if Malignance is better than Hairpin?
