Poor people, of any ethnicity, introduced into a new economy will damage that economy.
then how do you explain the US? the vast majority of our ancestors that immigrated here didn't have two nickels to rub together. Our ancestors had a trade agreement with this guy
At least that's what I heard....

I derailed it like a big fat jerk...
Back to AGW
I'm looking at all these graphs and lines and colors and numbers and trying to make some sense out of it. let me see if I have this right... 97% of climate scientists agree 50% of a warming trend of .8 of a degree over the last 100 years < half a degree is probably caused by people increasing the amounts of CO2 in the atmosphere?

Oh the next chapter in global warming will consist of flawed and bogus tie-ins to more ridiculous alarmism in order to jump start public panic again. The latest iteration is that CO2 will make everyone dumber!
So quick everyone lets forget individual freedoms and get back to living in the stone age!
Oh and just in case you ever though China actualy was on board with the struggle, they're ending their one child policy.

And yet military studies that were focused more on human safety than an agenda used much higher concentrations of CO2 and didn't get the same results. Surprise! Not to mention the Harvard study tested CO2 levels higher than what glober worming is giving us, so I'm not sure why that was tied in to begin with.

Illegal immigrants get limited benefits, if any at all.
Introducing new adults, poor or not, is generally beneficial for a country, and *particularly* for socialist economies, if the immigrants can/are allowed to maintain jobs and pay taxes. They gain the benefits of not having to subsidize any education or care for the first XX number of years, essentially having no societal debts to cancel out before making a positive financial contribution.
There is a tradeoff in age, as there is obviously a sweet spot between when someone is eligible to enter the work force, and when someone goes on pension.
There is also significant difference between illegal immigrants, legal immigrants, and refugees/asylum seekers.
That's not how that works.
Poor people, of any ethnicity, introduced into a new economy will damage that economy. The key is the definition of "poor", which in this situation is anyone significantly under the regions average wealth. Introduction of a small number works fine as they are integrated before they substantially impact the economy. Introduction of a large number on the other hand causes the exact opposite, they create their own culture and become a drag on the economy.
And yes the Scandinavian countries got over big time vs the rest of Europe during WWII, there isn't any comparison here. They were largely ignored as both sides had bigger issues to deal with. That combined with their relatively flat wealth distribution enabled them to thrive on an economic model that has proven disastrous to everyone else who's tried implementing it.
I explained the reasons above, though reading what you posted I doubt it did any good. Seriously, open a history book.
Norway was bombed and occupied during WWII, Finland fought 3 wars, Denmark was bombed and occupied during WWII, Sweden was neutral but accepted thousands of refugees and lost trade, even Iceland was invaded.
Bunkers still exist in Denmark and parts of beaches are still closed because of landmines.
Did as many people die per capitia as other parts of Europe? No. Was Scandinavia largely ignored? Hell no.
As to your economic assertions they are just as accurate as your historical analysis. But most do not get their history from books. They get their history from movies and TV.
Scandinavia has been totally ignored by WWII movies.
Right? Civilian perspectives and Hahns, Manns, Battenbergs, Badens and Fischers don't make good TV material either, or they don't fit the narrative. Who knows?
EDIT: Actually, Princess Alice of Greece and Denmark and her children's paths would make an epic saga that would rival GoT.

Concentrations of CO2 in buildings (or enclosed areas) is often driven by habitation and poor ventilation/air exchange, and has been used as a measure of indoor air quality and air exchange (EN 15251 springs to mind).
The tie-in is implied in the tweet from Al Gore. Which may be accurate, but it kind of overshadows the fact that good building/home ventilation (and removing the presence/use of non volatile organic compounds) has some impacts.

I took a moment to read into it more. The article sucked, but looking at the actual study cleared things up. I'm curious about the discrepancies between it and the military studies, but I guess we can depend on Gore and the "Al"armists to take something completely out of context and exploit it.

Well, there's quite a bit of a difference in the environments, and there is quite a bit of difference in the personnel studied.
You can read the NRC's study and see that the effects aren't not necessarily consistent either, with some being affected at significantly different concentrations.
The screening process for submariners is also generally a bit more specific than your average office worker as well.
Hell, you could even speculate that claustrophobia might be triggered by sensitivity to CO2 levels; as lack of claustrophobia is one of the screening criteria (for obvious reasons).

And that's the hard thing about experiments. People want to extrapolate results to other environments, but doing so is generally not scientifically sound unless your factors are controlled extremely well, and even then it's still no guarantee.

I do, it's sort of linked to something called "sick building syndrome". But that bears no relevance in Gore & co's desperate attempt to get AGW in front of the news cycle again.

The ThinkProgress article Gore referenced is somewhat alarmist, but that isn't the paper that was published. The article makes a rather invalid point (we should keep CO2 as low as possible), but also does make a pertinent one (we don't really know well what minimum concentration is required to have an impact, nor have the understanding behind why).

Here are the effects of too much CO2, it's called hypercapnia. We already know what happens when we expose humans to X Y Z levels of co2 gasses. But that doesn't stop alarmists from throwing this out there in the attempt to create as much hysteria as they can. That's why this is so ridiculous.

Warming waters in Gulf of Maine devastating cod fishery
Bangor Daily News
To long to copypasta in its entirety and too complex for a TLDR. Selected paragraphs.
Quote: A new scientific study says extremely rapidly warming waters off the New England coast have had a severe consequence — the collapse of a cod fishery that saw too many catches, even as overall cod numbers declined because of warmer seas.
It’s just the latest in a series of findings and occurrences — ranging from gigantic snows in Boston earlier last winter, which scientists partly linked with warm seas, to a sudden and “extreme” sea level rise event in 2009-2010 — suggesting that this particular stretch of water is undergoing profound changes.
“[In] 2004 to 2013, we ended up warming faster than really any other marine ecosystem has ever experienced over a 10 year period,” said Andrew Pershing of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, lead author of the new study just out in the journal Science....
“[In] 2004 to 2013, we ended up warming faster than really any other marine ecosystem has ever experienced over a 10 year period,” ...
The paper reports that during the decade-long period in question, the Gulf of Maine, the ocean region extending from Cape Cod northeast to the southern tip of Nova Scotia, warmed up by a truly stunning 0.41 degrees Fahrenheit per year. That’s faster warming than occurred in 99.9 percent of the rest of the world ocean, the scientists say.
What’s most intriguing is what is causing the dramatically warm waters — and how this may relate to other observed changes in the region.
Clearly, part of the cause is the overall ocean warming trend that has been seen around the globe due to climate change. But at the same time, the researchers say, the warm and salty Gulf Stream has moved northward more throughout the last century — a change that also has been linked to a warming climate but for more complex reasons. In late 2011, in fact, there was a dramatic northward movement that led to the warming of some New England lobster traps by more than 6 degrees Celsius, or over 10 degrees Fahrenheit.
Among other factors, the northward shift of the Gulf Stream appears tied to a larger change in Atlantic ocean circulation — the slowing of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, or AMOC, which carries warm surface water northward and cold water southward at depth and is driven by differences in temperature and salinity of these waters.

We know a slew of readily observable and measurable responses, but there are still some fairly important areas which are not fully resolved.
Heck, your own link references this particular subject as being under debate:
Quote: MRI
The hypercapnic state is routinely used to calibrate blood-oxygen-level dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging (BOLD fMRI), a modality that is sensitive to changes in blood oxygenation. However, this calibration crucially relies on the assumption that hypercapnia has no effect on neuronal function, which is a matter of debate.[17]

If they did that then they couldn't take over the economy and use it to punish their political rivals while rewarding their allies.
Anyone who still thinks this is about the environment is a naive fool. It's been a power grab from the beginning.

It's actually illegal in a lot of places to be off the grid for public health and safety reasons, although, they have enforced it in a really stupid way in the case of green housing.
In any case, diversifying our energy infrastructure can only serve to strengthen it, and it shouldn't require fearmongering to move that direction. The pushback is from energy interests that stand to lose a lot of government handouts and influence when people have greater choice and access to energy they don't control.
This thread per request and to alleviate debates in the Random P&R thread is for general discussion / debates / graphs / etc. on AGW (man made global warming) Theory.
Want to provide evidence of its existence, question that evidence, etc.?
Do it here.
Let's see how this goes.
Keep it relatively civil so I don't have to de-main it!
