I've searched high and low to find out what programming language was used to make XI and any details regarding its development. Hints lead me to believe it was developed using Lua but I can't be sure. XI is my favorite game, so while looking at programming languages, this really intetests me. Can anyone share what they know about XI development?

From my understanding, SE made XI with their own program developed by themselves called Crystal Tools. If you're talking actual programming, probably C++.

Actually, Crystal Tools was what they used for XIV 1.0, before they tore it down to make a new engine (that they just called "Final Fantasy XIV Engine") similar to Luminous, but more streamlined for MMO's.

From what I could understand from the OF, XI was developed using some weird PS2 framework called DNAS. I have no idea how it works, don't quote me on this.
