so when i started dragoon was the outcast job that couldn't jet a freakin party past 40. so why in the world is it like one of the most popular DD jobs now. did it seriously take over a year for people to realize that the job is universal and can pop out some awesome damage....and on top of that shed it all in an instant..seriously people? someone plz inform me of this if u have a good answer to this. thank u

Pretty much all the exp mobs are weak to piercing.
DRG is very good and not only on piercing-weak mobs... people still underestimate it a bit, but a lot less than before.

I prefer sam on birds and my drg gear isn't all that bad, lol.
Overwhelm + 5hit + penta > drg + drakes

i think the point is 'how do gimp loldrgs (like the OP) get to 75?' oh yeah people invited them. friggin birds. really, the job provides nominal DOT even if the person has no idea what they're doing. that's key, 'cause in ffxi mediocrity rules.
a good sam/war is obscene on birds. nothing quite like it.. poor taru MNK was getting terribly bored in my 55 party yesterday, and i was having the time of my life. outparsing him about twofold- i felt bad. experience parties are supposed to be fun. not demeaning. a very aggressive DRG could bring a very competitive amount of damage, but they'd have to be truly crazy to try to win.

I got invites on SAM a lot faster than i did on DRG >.> SAM/WAR hasso + penta with meditate too makes for a pretty decent DD.
Having just gotten DRG to 75 i don't think i'll be touching it again over my SAM until I have some homam/aurum/heca and zahaks to be honest.

My DRG out damages my SAM on penta...but I kind of gear it that way lol.
Anyways, there's another answer more than just "birds are weak to piercing." Although that is a big one. Mm...I don't remember how long ago it was, a year or two-ish, a little after ToAU came out, all two handed jobs got an update. The Dex:Acc, Str:Attk ratios got boosted, just for 2handed users. That alone made DRG SAM and DRK way better, and people started playing Gaxe War instead of 2x axe, sword, or 1axe 1sword. Then the fact that birds are weak to piercing pushes DRG up there a big more :P Random parses of my sam/war

Samurai is such a lame, overpowered job. Really makes me sick and makes me want to quit a lot of the time... Samurai Fantasy XI indeed. In a game which revolves around FORCED grouping, there shouldn't be loved jobs and unloved. It is pathetic.
Idk, I liked DRG, I lvled it to 75. But I can still do alot more on my SAM since I merited it alot. But give me double attack songs on birds and I had a pt I was out damaging 2 DRGs and half the time out doing the 3rd. DRG doesn't really get as much impressive gear as jobs like SAM and WAR. it's ashame that jobs like DRK and such don't get picked more though. I <3 2handed jobs though.

They won't get exp invites, they aren't really needed in endgame (except SMN, some situations require you to have a SMN or two in the party), they would do something outside of their main job if they DO get into a party. But people still level them for a reason. Why? Because people have their favorite jobs and screw those who want to go the other way. Need a good zerg job? Level SAM, DRK, or WAR. Need a useful job? Level SAM, WHM, or PLD. Anything else is just for fun. People forget that this is a game, not a job. Relearn to play. Thats my advice. |
