It's difficult to know the actual fTP when you don't know the base damage, but I do believe I worked out damage multiplier scaling on L-1 monsters for all the BPs that I thought might be useful shortly after the update that made them scale. I have no idea where I posted it. It was either on BG or in this thread.

Based on magic BPs, I'd expect three setpoints (0, 1500, and 3000 TP).

Yeah, I don't use Thurandaut Ring anymore. 2x Varar+1 all the way - for me anyway.

I find the suggested staves a bit off - Bolelabunga and Keraunos, as they offer nothing to pet verses the JSE, Gridarvor.

What staff do you use and why? :)

I agree, especially given you can only have one SoA ring at a time and most people have multiple jobs.

I'm wondering if there is a better ring than the Varar Ring and is also practical to get (e.g. not like the SoA rings, etc).

Yeah, I don't use Thurandaut Ring anymore. 2x Varar+1 all the way - for me anyway.

WOW!!!! 2x Varar +1?! On Ragnarok they're 60M and on some servers ever higher. Well, if Summoner is your main job and you don't have many jobs. I just can't justify the 118M extra gil for the little bit of improvement, but, hey, that's me, the old miser. ;)

Range/Ammo: No skill available, except perhaps from Rune Bows with the shitty FoV augment system? - Checked and skill was never reported in the ranged slot

Ear2: Summoning (3 skill)
Body: Apogee +1 (20 skill)
Hands: Lamassu +1 (22 skill)

So i'm not sure if its me or something is wrong, i can't see my avatar once engaged into a Geas Fate NM fight. Re-summoning it would would give me visual but once i engage on avatar, my avatar goes invisible? Just finishing testing in t3/t4 nm in reisenjima.

Is there a fix to this? Other than reinstalling whole ffxi itself? Or has anyone encounter this?

This happens to me on Unity NMs as well. If there's a fix I'd love to hear it too!

I believe he meant is there any other gear to bring his skill higher. I'm not certain about your augment skill theory so I didn't respond, but I believe you've reached the cap(after you get those shoes).

If the obvious cap for summoning magic is based on the pieces that are BiS for each slot then that's one thing, but I'd be curious to know if there is an actual hard cap for the skill.

SE said siphon caps at 700 skill (impossible to reach and +siphon gear is better). I believe Alexander caps at 600/60s. There's no word on acc bonus or ward duration to pacts having a cap.

Favor's current limit is 575+horn+gift, with -8s, this leaves us short of the promised 10s pact timer reduction.

Conveyance is 8+5, not 10+5

I got a 61 second Alexander the 3 times I tried last night. I also verified that Conduit JPs don't affect its duration.


The next predicted Favor tier would have been 638~640 skill. It should now be possible to rule it out with the gear I listed above, but if you're even missing Stikini Ring +1 you wouldn't really be able to conclude anything.

Now, I do seem to remember proclamations that it didn't exist even back before AF3+3 came out, which should have been impossible and is what brought me here. I thought I was missing some large source of summoning magic skill. Am I? If so, what is it?

This is my standard avatar engaged set:

Both Apogee D
Helios Gloves: Pet: Accuracy +27 DA +8 Haste +4%
Campestres's Cape: Evasion +20 Magic Evasion +20, Pet: Accuracy +30 Attack +20 Haste +10%

This is what I use when TP isn't important, AoEs are deadly, soloing without a trust tank, etc.:
ItemSet 350521
Artsieq Cuffs C
Campestres's Cape: same but with Regen instead of Haste

In both sets, I swap Fucho-no-Obi at low MP and obviously swap horns when I want better Favor tiers. But like others have said, engaged sets are probably not something to stress over if you just want SMN for Aeonic clears.

Yes, there's a sort of double mab/macc augment you can get. the cap for both on that is 15+25 on each.

You only need 512 skill and Beckoner's Horn +1 in your precast set. The rest can be -Enmity or whatever you want. I'm thinking of changing my free slots to BP Damage to compensate for midcast lag in layered areas.

I am working on a WoC pop set, And Warder of Faith is next on my list. I generally do these types of things with a mele, but my SMN has 1550 JP and I figured maybe if a nabbed a few more I could trim off a party during the CP event coming up. Over the last few days, I have gone through 2 entire CP rings and a few Trizek charges and haven't seen a pop. I understand it could simply be bum luck, but figured I'd check anyway. Any know if it's impossible/possible to get a warder pop on an Avatar kill?

I don't think a SMN one exists because we don't have the detail level of Avatar mechanics/stats/numbers like we do on the mele side. I could be wrong...and in which case someone will point you there...but I am pretty sure it does not exist.

There's a calculator for magic pacts and a calculator for 3 hit physical pacts in this thread.
