The taru's heads need to be bigger and midsection need to be smaller. =/
I do like the way that mithra looks though. Weird... so many of the same model types/hair types/facial types. tsktsk. Lazy SE, very lazy.
I probably won't be playing XIV, or XI for much longer thanks to stupid (I mean, lovely) school starting back up... but I am hoping they offer more customization this go-round. For example, I would totally play a grey, crack-skinned Bizzaro Tarutaru.

And to me... It looks like you'll be able to control the shading of your character's skin to a degree. ***, I wanted to be the new Galka dudes, but the Tarus got so much cuter. ; ;

This just makes it look like a hume girl with cat ears glued onto her head with added finger paint on her face. Hopefully what they show there is the worst of it. Kinda reminds me of the "dyke" face options Hume females have in XI >.>

This vid came out few hours ago, after saying no real lvling system, kinda turns me off, but I donno...=\. Happy about Uematsu doing the music tho because his stuff is amazing.

Them tarus are cuter than our tarus...atleast in their full CG'd glory..they probably look cute ingame too but like, I never chose FF11s tarus because they were ugly in the choose-a-character screen even though they look cuter ingame.
Mithras still look ugly, bet they look cuter in game like the FF11 ones too. Id probably still be hume. For some reason I have a thing against choosing an avatar that isnt human..idk

i hope you can change the complication of your character, that "looks" like a light skinned elvaan male so we will see. i would love to play a dark skinned hume

Ugh. What have they done to the taru and mithra? The mithra really do just look human with cat ears, they're not even dark-skinned anymore...? I do hope that's customizable. The lala look all wrong, like overgrown babies. The proportions creep me the hell out, the poses+faces remind me of teletubbies. The elves do look fantastic, though. Hopefully everyone'll look better in the final product. I'd really be disappointed if they altered two of my favorite races to look fugly in this.
