EW YORK — Hillary Clinton sounded like a woman on a mission after her long drive into the heartland: “There’s something wrong,” she told Iowans on Tuesday, when “hedge fund managers pay lower taxes than nurses or the truckers I saw on I-80 when I was driving here over the last two days.”

But back in Manhattan, the hedge fund managers who’ve long been part of her political and fundraising networks aren’t sweating the putdown and aren’t worrying about their take-home pay just yet.

It’s “just politics,” said one major Democratic donor on Wall Street, explaining that some of her Wall Street supporters doubt she would push hard for closing the carried interest loophole as president, a policy she promoted when she last ran in 2008.

“The question is not going to be whether or not hedge fund managers or CEOs make too much money,” said a separate Clinton supporter who manages a hedge fund. “The question is how do you solve the problem of inequality. Nobody takes it like she is going after them personally.”

Indeed, many of the financial sector donors supporting her just-declared presidential campaign say they’ve been expecting the moment when Clinton started calling out hedge fund managers and decrying executive pay all along — right down to the complaints from critics that such arguments are rich coming from someone who recently made north of $200,000 per speech, and who has been close to Wall Street since her days representing it as a senator from New York.

sometimes its like you're an innocent little lamb, so outraged when common known truths are revealed to you. Beware the mint jelly...

You know, it's funny. The point is that this is yet another example (of probably hundreds) that she is the least "genuine" person in the pool. I don't think every twitter entity is real, but when you're running for pres, I would think it should be somewhat relevant that less than half of your following is apparently real.

Right... a woman who got a 14 million dollar advance on a book nobody bought has any credibility on income inequality...

Well, I suppose that depends entirely upon whether or not she includes herself and her campaign donors as people who need to pay more taxes.

Sadly, given her trying to appeal to those with limited disposable income as presenting herself as "one of them", I doubt she's going to practice what she preaches.

I find myself beginning to wonder if the country could socially stomach four to eight years of someone like Rubio just for the sake of maybe de-escalating some of this ridiculous ideologic extremism.

My point really was it shouldn't be a surprise or concern that politicians, or celebrities and even major brands have inflated social media numbers. It's fairly irrelevant in this day and age.

You're not going to find a politician who is genuine in 2015, regardless of political affiliation. Especially one who is a lawyer.

Politicians will tell you what they think you want to hear in order to secure a vote. Its nothing new.

Hey if you're comfortable voting for someone who stands for nothing, kudos on you. If it makes you feel better to state that it doesn't matter because everyone in politics doesn't stand for anything, have at it. We all know that some are more principled than others and at one end is Hil-dawg.

That should probably be the hashtag for Hillary's entire campaign, because we're going to hear a whole lot of "justify, justify, justify". There's sooooooo much looking the other way that has to happen to put Hillary down on your ballot.

It is? It seems like they're saying that everyone seems to be doing something like this. Not that it is ok for anyone to actually be doing.

You certainly do like to cry about how you don't think things are fair though and I don't see you out attempting to crucify republicans. Kinda like when people were smashing Hillary for using personal emails but then seemed to not care that pretty much every other presidential potential did as well (except for lindsay graham).

No, you can't pull the hypocrisy card on me in this case. On numerous occasions I have come out against the bullcrap Boehner pulls, and I challenge you to find a post where I give a pass to politicians as a whole every time a Republican does something politician-y. Nice try, though.

Never stated I was voting for her. If it helps you to place me at one end of the spectrum for the sake of your dichotomy; no ones going to stop you.

Doesn't matter if a Democrat or Republican inflates their social media numbers, for me, outside of jokes. But to say so and so has fake followers therefore they must lack integrity and character is really more of a reflection that the one who draws such a conclusion is inexperienced in the world.

Its irrelevant to any type of criteria one should base a reason to vote or not vote on any candidate.
