If anyone finds out what the sign said let's hear it.

A man shot himelf near the U.S. Capitol Building today, police said, prompting the building to be put on lockdown and staff told to shelter in place.

The man shot himself near the West Front of the U.S. Capitol Building today, according to police. He was wearing a blue backpack and had a sign taped to his hand, and there was also a suitcase nearby, law enforcement sources told ABC News.

Bomb technicians were preparing to approach the suitcase to check its contents.

Although the man shot himself, the Capitol was locked down as a precautionary measure, Sgt. Kimberly Schneider of the U.S. Capitol police said.

Ok so that answers the question of the message, what was in the suspicious package now? His tax return?

Another police shooting. This time by a "reserve deputy" who is a volunteer who confused his stun gun with his handgun.
Quote:
In the video, a gunshot is heard and a man says, "Oh, I shot him. I'm sorry."

Authorities have identified the man as 73-year-old reserve deputy Robert Bates and said that he meant to use his stun gun.

I've read a few articles in the past year about volunteer police officers or pay-to-play cops, the concept is kind of odd and outdated in this day in age.

Well at least not after we pay them millions of dollars to go away.

Chicago just paid another 4.5 million to the family of a woman that was killed by an off duty cop. He claims that he saw a guy reach for a gun, ended up being a cell phone, so the off duty cop pulled out his unregistered weapon (not his service weapon, note that owning a personal weapon was illegal in chicago at the time) and unloaded on em. Winged the guy and shot a bystander in the head.

This all happened three years ago and now they recently settled then decided to bring charges up against him now after he's been riding light desk duty for the last 3 years.

Hippy and anarchy?

Police aren't highly regulated with the militarized weapons they have received. They've received little to no training and have made numerous mistakes. I've pointed out regular police officers who have killed people under arrest on accident, or people in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I don't think we need to issue more idiots weapons and authority over "civilians".

Everyone is guilty of something in the US with how the laws are written. Selling a gun to a cop is stupid and unlawful, but not an offense that is punished by death...in most circumstances.

Hipster!

Meh. Not a "hipster", I just preferred its chat mechanism to the steady flowing stream of text.

That and I've a nostalgic connection because that's how my friends and I all communicated back in high school. And I got to know my wife via late-night ICQ chats.

Ignore the antiquated concept, why the *** was someone allowed to carry a taser and gun in close enough proximity or with little enough training to confuse the two until after they pulled the damn trigger?!

I swear, some police departments need to be completely gutted at this point.

If this wasn't a true story, it almost sounds like some comedy skit. He's got a cell phone, bang, right into a bystander's head. Something out of Police Academy or Super Troopers.

A lot of the stuff that's gone public over the last few years gave me that feeling. Heck, the video from a few pages back, I had to look it up on SEVERAL credible news sites before I believed it was real.

Nobody listened to me when I complained we were turning american men into a bunch of pussies.... but now look!

Instead of standing around in bars and getting drunk and punching each other in the face, we're all sniping at each other on the internet and then getting all offended like a bunch of sissies...

Somewhere in the deep recesses of the feminist cabal one of the she dykes just realized they've gone to far.....
