This might be the most significant thing outside of Obamacare that will have happened inside his presidency. The simple fact that congress has to filibuster this proves that he still has relevance. If he didn't, there would be nothing to filibuster. And if they succeed in filibustering this for 250+ days, it would be the longest delay of a supreme court justice ever, by more than double the amount of time. Good luck. They don't have to filibuster. They can simple go through the whole process which can take 3-4 months and then say, no. Then Obama has to choose another. Rinse and repeat until new President is elected.
