There's always another option. I know altogether too many men who lust for "straight" guys and "straight" guys who got over worrying about the gender attached to the moist orifice, at least when it comes to base pleasure.

Yes, you're free to go gay as well. Isn't freedom wonderful? A world where people can *** eachother until they get bored of it all and become hermits.

If you were a tomboy 100 years ago you were a maverick and if you were an effeminate male ha... well, you weren't having a good time.
Actually, you'd be surprised, but context is everything. In the more moneyed parts of society during the Victorian and Edwardian reigns, a man being a little effeminate was not a hanging offense. Oscar Wilde got in more trouble for being a pain in the *** than for doing it in the butt, but, like Capone, one option was easier to convict. Similarly, Boston marriages have a certain history of tolerance, especially in the States.

It's really no different today, though. Being a hipster douchebag, for instance, probably won't get your *** justifiably curb-stomped in Portland, OR, or the right neighborhoods of NYC, but that won't stop it happening in places where people still have standards and believe in human dignity. Peruvian train tracks, for instance.

I think the argument is that people up till recently had no choice regarding what they do with themselves with regards to gender roles. WWII and the rise of early feminists opened the door to being yourself and seizing the freedom to self-determinate. You could go back to the early women's suffragists if you saw fit as the turning point.

If you were a tomboy 100 years ago you were a maverick and if you were an effeminate male ha... well, you weren't having a good time.

Religious orders clinging to traditional values naturally lend themselves to protecting the status quo. Religion like humanity can adapt, it simply needs impetus to.
I think their version of adapting is to cling to biological rules now, rather than self-determination.
