How Did You Choose Your Character Name?

back in 06 Konami released IIDX13: Distorted in Arcades i mainly wasted alot of my time trying to Pass all 4 "Cardinal Gate" Boss Songs that alot of my friends called me CG so it sick the end

Same here...just the name on my birth certificate. :)

I looked up meanings at baby name sites. My character's full name is Althea Valara. Althea means "healer" and Valara means "fierce one". I knew I wanted to play as a red mage, so I chose a name that reflected its abilities to both cure and fight.

Althea was already taken, so I became Altheav. I actually ran by the original Althea in the dunes once. She had the same character model as me and was also a red mage.

I used to know an Elvaan PLD on Bismarck with the name "Althea". She quit several years ago, very nice person.

I didn't choose my name. It chose me.

Eh, why the heck not. I'll bite.

* It's based off my first and last initial (L N),
* I was on a heavy Japanophile kick (why the -u at the end, which I could have left out in hindsight - no, wait. It seemed appropriate to add that -u for a Tarutaru female), and
* my Zodiac element is wind (aero).

All my mules are from a mix of favorite Capcom franchises, a suggestion from my ex-BF (which I still kept 'cause it's just silly), a Rahxephon reference (in hindsight, now seems appropriate), slight changes of an old alias I used in Star Wars chatrooms, further variations on my initials, the title of an old JP MIDI (that I still enjoy after nine years), a play on phonetics in Germanic languages of the most random set of words that appealed to me, and another play on archaic Japanese words and romanization of -yet- another random set of words that appealed to me.

I came up with my name in 87' when I played D&D for the first time using the 1977 TSR basic starter books (10yr old books I know, but that's what we had for the campaign lol). On paper, my character name was born as a BLM and its been with me ever since.

After trying to think of a name and coming up short, I turned to my ipod lol.



Then after a server merge... I just added an extra l lol.

My entire childhood I've played FF games, even before I could read I'd watch my older cousin playing FF1 for hours and hours. So of course
my name would have to reflect on the series.

Back when this game had come to the PC in the states 2002 - 2003? The first name I tried was Ultimaomega, surprisingly that didn't work.. Omegaultima looked funny but didn't work either.. So I figured I'd pull a FF6 translate/nametobig thing like they did with the Atma weapon and use A for the U.

Altimaomega was born, I've used it in every online game and gaming system since. AltimaOmega or Altima Omega depending on the format.

My name is a combination of 2/3 of cards from the Yu-Gi-Oh universe. These cards were Kazejin & Suijin. These cards along w/ the 3rd Sanga of Thunder when fused in a ritual summons created the Gate Guardian. So Kazejin was wind and Suijin was water. In 03 when I created this character I was gonna call him Kazensuijin but for some reason I dropped the S and 1st I to add K because I thought it looked better.

I chose my name as I was teaching overseas. I wanted my students to reconize me on ffxi. So I did kimjongil. Few years later I was in an abby party and someone from europe was so offended by my name, and the fear it represented that I was thrown in jail.

While in jail the gm told me to change name. Adolfhitler, btk, tedbundy, all no good. Pres obama landed the. Oble peace prize that not even mother treasa could get and declared wR on a country in the same week.

For this reason I knew my name would bring peace or war in every players heart around the would, so I chose the name presidentobama. The gm aproved. And everyone has feelings for me, from past up til now.

Voren is the shortened last name of Lucius Vorenus off of HBO's series Rome. At the end of the last season when he was the head of the crime syndicate in Rome his banner read Voren, the banner was carried into a battle between his syndicate and another. Good show, lots of fiction, decent historical take, and plenty of the essentials in life: blood, guts, and T&A....a lot of T&A.

Wolfee: Flow backwards, Wolf, always alterego, 2nd character in games, when i replay a game and go all evil.

Guess. I'll share mine... Back in 2002, I was choosing a handle for a chess server and had trouble coming up with anything. Wanting to be more sociable and talkatible, I came up with this. Turns out you can't change yourself with picking handles alone, but I've sticked with this ever since.

No regret, that's just how things are. I accept myself as I am. More interesting question is, how do you change yourself. Not so easy.
