Ex-avion

Ex meaning former. Avion derived from Latin "Avus" (bird). I feel like I was once at the pinnacle of this game ages ago with my original character that is now lost in the system. Was also in the Air Force at the time so it tends to remind me of what i've fallen from and somehow keeps me motivated to surpass that now.

Back in '94 I gave a high school english speech on the illegitimacy of ebonics. Almost got suspended for my efforts. Got the nickname Phattrav, which quickly got homogenized to Fattrav.

Mainly the huge challenge of starting from scratch in this game. Even though its easier then ever its still rough. The server I used to play on was eaten by Ragnarok and literally everyone I knew in-game is now gone and FFXI has changed so much, some good some bad.

The grind continues though

Pantafernando comes from panta (pseudo prefix ive been adopting since child coming from a movie, pantaleão, and as a child, i found interesting prefix, and decided to adopt), fernando is my true name.

Ailaique is my second char, its an homophone of "i like" in portuguese. I used this name as a short form of "ailaiquetomouvemouve" the name i used for my soccer team in high school that i formed with friends, to compete in internal championship. This big name is the homophone of "i like to move move", refrain of theme song from madagascar movie, that was pretty popular here when it was released.

When I first started in 04' my name was Genbaku. Then one day I got magically transported to Morion Gaol where a SGM informed me that my name was offensive to japanese players and that I had to change it along with my mule Genshi. Was given a 3 day suspension and thus, Zerowone.

This is basically the name i've been using ever since I was a Wee-youngin' playing Quake 2 online.

Well 'The GiB' is, obviously just cut it down to 'Gib' for here. But everywhere else I'm The GiB'

I get the Genbaku thing, but what's wrong with Genshi? I'm not seeing it.

First thing that pops up is a thing about Python, lol...

I wanted a short and easy name, and liked the sound of "Zieg" from the Legend of Dragoon...but I misspelled it.

Later on, I found out that "Zieg" was taken anyways (I was kinda surprised, I started early 2004).

..I bet everyone pronounces it in every possible way except "ZEEEG"!

As for me:

I made this name when EQOA made me use more than 3 letters and just stuck with it ever since. Well the Single U side, not double.

I see no problem with the name either....then again a lot of Japanese names (Kokoro which means heart in Japanese) are unavailable across all servers, it doesn't search it, it just goes 'name unavailable' and I try it with Kukuru, same thing unavailable without searching.

I think the JP playerbase (back to Genshi/Genbaku) might have known Genshi was Genbaku's mule, and went "Nuclear bomb + dead...." which I can understand their position if that's where they got that from.

I might try putting in Tsurara just to see if it's available

My name was chosen for 3 reasons, first because Tymora is the goddess that protects adventurers, secondly because it derives also from "tymoria" which is greek for righteous punishment and lastly because I am usually in a mage job some people call me Tym?^^

When I started playing XI I was planning to play ranger, so following the advice of the 2003 strategy guide I chose mithra legitimately for the dex and agl. So I needed a female name and name them Ina after my favourite characters from Samurai Warriors... Even though they look nothing alike

Over time Ina became my standard go to character for both name and apperence, then when I decided to try Guild Wars 2 I was dismayed to find the name Ina already taken. Rather than come up with a new character I decided it was about time to adopt a last name so sat down combining syllables till I found something that I thought went well with Ina, and so I became Ina Fayer.

For FFXIV I originally played a hume named Aydrian Wyndon shamelessly pulled from the Demon Wars Saga by R.A. Salvator. However it never really fit with me (although sometimes I still use the name Aydrian Tavis) so going into 2.0 I decided to become a man cat using the concept of him being Ina's brother as my guideline. Once again I sat down and combined sylablles until I came up with a name I liked and so Kiedan Fayer was born... I later googled Kiedan out of curiosity and learned that it is the name of (I believe) and electric power company as well, I still don't know how I feel about that.

For Vegetto; I just went with random anime names until one wasn't taken.

When the servers merged, I was in a hurry to log in; so just went off the wall with a few attempts

Tried Hellokitty to no avail, then Tigerwoods worked; so bam, tiger woods

I had originally wanted Leila (pronounced Lay-la) just because I thought it was a pretty name. But in character creation, the name was unavailable. I started trying variations of it (Layla, Lilah, Lila, etc) and the first one I found that was free to take was Liela. I've been Liela ever since.

I pronounce it Lie (as in not the truth) - la. Most folks pronounce it Layla or Leela and I'm fine with that too.
