As a ws piece, it double str of phorcys with a respectable 15 acc/att, not sure much comes close to the WSD on phorcys. The main draw for me though was the saveTP present on the enhances overwhelm augment. this makes for a possible 40tp return on every ws, meaning you need a mere 34stp for a 3hit build on tsurumaru. I was wondering if sakonji +1 is that far behind on parses for WS or is it a feasable piece? (really don't want to hold my breath hoping they'll 119 NNI gear)
if you spam shoha, sakonji comes out ahead; otherwise for fudo and kaiten phorcys wins out easily.
if you are using shoha you are proly in an alliance setting meaning its going to be difficult to keep in front of the mob to make the added effect of sakonji kick in; which is proly the reason you dont want to build your xhit set around it.
and besides, after this next update, it sounds like it will be even easier to make our 4hit build; so id recommend waiting til after the update to redo your gearsets.

Basically what others said. If your damage output is already low or you arent using a higher end ws like kaiten or fudo then yes sakonji comes out ahead. Also if you only have a tsurumaru then you wont have the added accuracy so it might be helpful for a hybrid acc set. wsd+% only helps if your damage is already high. phorcys is also best used when attack isnt capped since it gives a massive boost to attack.
I dont see them 119 the nni gear anytime soon. Its already too good that it would make more best in slot and undermine the whole relic/af reforge thing. nni gear is important to have even now with 119 gear.

wsd on phorcys and ogier's legs is first hit only, so that skews shoha a bit. delkfutt2 body is generally a better accuracy shoha.body than sakonji unless you are actually taking advantage of the overwhelm aug. people overestimate how easy it is to maintain overwhelm.

For content where I am on sam, it's usually a tossup for enmity between myself and the other sam. We both normally sit in front so overwhelm is easy to maintain. I was waiting on spreadsheets and opinions before switching away from phorcys. (kinda suspected that at best sakonji would just keep up)
what exactly are they changing about how weapon delay effects tp gain anyway, I only saw that specific line in the update notes.

Increasing the fTP and changing the weaponskill calculations could sway it either way, honestly. Fudo will probably be the standard WS if you're not severely attack starved, but depending on how they change it, it could favor base stats or push it high enough that WSD takes the lead.

This is probably a dumb question, but does MAB have any effect on SAM's elemental WSes? I recall people calling them Hybrid WSes that had a physical and magical portion, but Ifrit's flaming crush has the same and gets a fairly large boost from MAB setups.

Yes, MAB affects GKT elemental WS, but unlike before SoA gear, MAB available hasn't risen very much for SAM. I haven't bothered to even look at it since SoA as elemental WS had such a poor scaling post abyssea.

Two piece of gear I like using on my sam, when stp allows, are otomi helm and ejekamal boots. Thoughts on best augments for these? quite disappointed at the lack of accuracy as an armor augment. str dex attack all seem to be ok, but I'd much rather have acc or crit or double attack.

STR is what I went with, I believe it is now the go-to WS head as well, unless you absolutely need the accuracy or STP from Yaoyotl.

Well looking into it a little bit, the physical base damage is the base for the magical portion of the WS damage? This is why Hybrid WSes have sucked so bad in the past, because they do 0 damage on physical immune mobs (0*(MAB/MDB)*MDA = 0). This sucks because it really limits the use of our Hybrid WSes on magical weak foes.
However, with the TP buff they can easily do 5k ish damage and would seem to drop auras pretty well, adding to SAM's flexibility.
Should we be using WS gorgets or something like Stoicheion Medal for hybrid WSes? SAM has pretty decent MAB accessories to choose from now. MAB earrings + Moonshade, MAB necks, and Toro Cape add at least 28mab without touching a piece of iLVL armor.

After looking over this lua, I'm thinking I might use it. But I'm not sure of how to toggle between sets (acc, pdt/mdt, etc) with bindings. Since I normally use Moten's gearswaps and am used to its bindings, I'd like to bind them to the F9-12 keys. I see there's this line Code -- In Game: //gs c (command), Macro: /console gs c (command), Bind: gs c (command) --
and that the toggle commands are 'C1', 'C17', etc. but I can't get it to work with F9-12 (can make them work by typing //gs c C[x] in-game though). Tried something like this: Code function user_setup()
send_command('bind f9 gs c C1')
send_command('bind f10 gs c C7')
send_command('bind f11 gs c C15')
send_command('bind f12 gs c C5')
end
but it won't work. Don't know a lot about gearswap code, so. Also sorry if if this isn't the place to ask.

You simply replace your old SC binds in your init.txt file with the new GS ones. He provides his GS binds on his main pastebin page that you can just copy/paste which fit all his GS.

I recommend this one. I am a bit biased though. But if you read the comments you should be able to customize to your play style fairly easily.

Try ctrl and alt combinations. ^ =ctrl and ! = alt .
So for example try: send_command('bind ^f9 gs c C1')

If you're using the referenced GearSwap file, realize that it doesn't have any knowledge of the user_setup() function. That's a function called from my includes, not a general GearSwap function. For his, put those binds in the get_sets() function.

I read the comments of that file and saw that it was using your macro books. Made me assume it had your include. Then I saw your post and and reread it. And yep it didn't have it.
Again I recommend to jrpg to review the file on the link I posted to get a better idea on what Mote recommended.

What Ejiin recommended worked (adding binds to the init.txt), hadn't looked at that file in ages. Thanks for the additional help/info too, makes GS less intimidating the more things are clarified. That GS looks good too Zerowone, I'll have to look at my options.

yeah we would have to see the file, it might be something minor like spelling or a missing quotation or comma.

here's the thing, Bokura's file works. We need to see the actual file you're using. Are you using a weapon besides the ones he's outlined? His file defaults to the Koga sets, you need to either use those as your sets or set the variable to the sets you are using.

i have tsuru and amano. if i leave the gs alone it will equip the pieces i have that he has but if i change a piece and reload it it wont switch. for instance, i changed the tp set on tsuru. i only changed the hands to the NQ and the legs to unkai +2. yet it wont equip em lolol
