Minority and poverty go hand-in-hand. But, yes, consequences never seem to follow the rich. I trust you're aware of what the word "privilege" means in its roots?

Apparently the Feds are investigating how the sandy relief funds were used by Christie. Looking bad.
Ya, things are looking bad. Investigators are going to put Christie's whole tenure as governor under a microscope, especially the feds. Has he never done anything wrong, never had any sort of impropriety? He had better hope so, because if there's been any kind of wrongdoing Christie is done.

whether he did or did not do something wrong with the funding aside, i find the timing of this 'investigation' to be a bit more the a coincidence. Its been a little while since sandy, been a little while since those ads, and been a while since that money was spent. Are we supposed to believe that the feds and dem's are just now realizing all this? If they just did, then they are not doing there job very well, and if they didn't then that means they waited all this time until right now to mention it. Now while both the idea of them not doing there jobs, and holding the info for a political war are both perfectly believable, one seems a lot more likely in this case then the other.
Lot of talk about Christie being the next repub candidate for president, and suddenly the feds and dem majority, are attacking with everything they have all at once, instead of as it came to light. Seems more like a political assassination attempt rather then 'uncovering the truth'

It's not so much that they're "just realizing it now" as they are just going back over everything with a fine tooth comb to see if there were any other improprieties using the bridge scandal as the excuse to do so.

in other words; they found a camp fire and are running around looking for any gasoline they can possibly find to throw on it.

Not so much the "Dems" as it's the extreme right. They haven't been fans of Christie since "Sandy". Since they're gunning after every "moderate republican" don't be shocked if it turns out the "Heritage Foundation" ends up being behind this witch hunt.

If you're still under the impression that both sides were responsible for the government shutdown, you weren't actually paying attention
the brain washing machine is well oiled & running out here in SD. I was picking up my children from school the other day, & there was an old lady idling down the road, so naturally I thanked Obama. my daughter starts telling me about how Obama is bad, I looked down & said "that's a bunch of nonsense" (she's 12) she then proceeds to tell me he caused the shutdown. so I had to rattle off a huge spiel about how he was just an idealist who got whacked in the face with reality, he's been a fair / mediocre president, & that she needed to speak with her father before repeating nonsense she heard elsewhere.
(I voted for Gary Johnson)
The other day my wife came home ranting about "Obamacare". I looked her straight in the eyes and said "If you have researched the subject, I'll let you rant endlessly, but don't repeat some moronic talking points to me, lol" My mother constantly *** about "Obamacare" and how its going to *** the country over..and how my grandmother with Medicare is having so much problems because of "Obamacare"... and stuff...
And when i correct her with factual information...she just goes on an on and on...same with some of the people i sit around the student lounge with...
its just one giant propaganda and misinformation fest on the local level and all the non-interest in national level statistics and such just help keep those areas *** as far as information goes...and then the normal american citizen/voter doesnt care to actually look at laws and do their part of the governing.
TL;DR: my jimmies get extremely rustled because people willingly stay ignorant of the actual situations and legislation they talk about and dont actively research why we had to suggest legislation like this and all the private sector *** that came/comes with it.

Yeah, we should stop talking about Obamacare. Only the "uninformed" who recite "talking points" are upset with it. If they just had the "facts" and were "educated" about the "truth", we'd all be better off.

You're right. I'm sure the intellectuals on these forums who support it have done a bunch of intense research from non-partisan sources to reach their conclusions. Otherwise they wouldn't look down on the people who just recite what the news sources say. But enough from me, I want to hear about shoe fetishes.

When I think of ignorance and uninformed I often think of Zerowone, Jassik, and Viscousss. You know because they just don't know what they are talking about. You know with their information, and their logic, and their stupid rationale.
Doesn't everyone know the ACA is socialism I mean what is the point of even having a discussion?!

I'm far from happy with it, but at least I know what it actually says.

Nah, they will actually just leave Christie out there. They don't need a "frontrunner" in 2014 when they are supposed to be trying to hold onto their seats in the midterms. Let Christie take the hits now, and then find an actual candidate next year.

They definitely need an out of nowhere candidate, the usual suspects have become a running joke.

I read an article earlier today that was published on Christmas day about Christie. It briefly mentioned the bridge scandal (I'm not sure when that really gained traction in the media, but I think last week?) but mainly discussed other incidents.
I found it interesting because it seems that Christie has a history of retribution (not necessarily illegal) against criticism.

I guess we should talk about this:
http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/09/politics/chris-christie-bridge-primer/index.html?hpt=hp_t1
Aside from the obvious, which is that this kind of political payback is disgusting and wrong, I think that this scandal damages Chris Christie's 2016 chances. Over the next few days and weeks we should get a clearer picture of his actual involvement, so maybe I'm off-base and he'll escape unscathed.
Anyone else got thoughts on this whole debacle?
