Make it political all you want, most people do not understand the Middle East and all the ***that goes on there. Some ambassador dying when death is a daily occurrence in the Middle East is like hearing 3-4 more soldiers got killed in Afghanistan. People are numb to it. My cynic says no one cares, we aren't seeing results other than money being sunk into some 9th century hellhole.

People do understand a pretty clear cut of a politician/politicians goons holding up traffic to send another pol a message. It directly affected the commutes of thousands of drivers in a world-famous choke-point for vehicular traffic.

It's the same reason people can get behind (hehe) a sex scandal. People understand the temptations of cheating, steamy affairs liven otherwise boring lives and we like to nose into who's banging who. Instant attention when it hits close to home. Or hits you in the pants.

This also makes headlines Christie was a well known potential candidate for POTUS. If he were the governor of Podunk and not New Jersey, no one would care. But since it's Chris-I don't take ***-Christie we're all gonna hear about it.

Its starting to look like the death of a thousand cuts.....

Sandy Funds Went to NJ Town With Little Storm Damage

Quote:
Gov. Chris Christie's administration is again facing questions about how Sandy aid was distributed in New Jersey after it was revealed $4.8 million in relief funds went to help build an apartment tower in New Brunswick.... a Rutgers University study ranked New Brunswick 188th on a list of communities that suffered the most hardship due to Sandy.

[Adam Gordon, a lawyer for the nonprofit Fair Share Housing Center] also criticized a senior housing development in Belleville, which won millions in Sandy relief funds. Belleville was not hit particularly hard by Sandy; it ranked 254th on the list of New Jersey communities suffering hardships after Sandy.

Despite the relatively low level of need, the HMFA approved $6 million to help the developer build 137 affordable senior housing units.

Chris Christie Investigators Issuing New Subpoenas In Bridgegate Probe

Quote:
At least a dozen new subpoenas were authorized Monday by a New Jersey legislative committee investigating a plot by aides to Gov. Chris Christie to create traffic gridlock on the George Washington Bridge, apparently for political retribution.

The panel also agreed to take additional steps to enforce subpoenas to two key figures in the bridge scandal that is engulfing the administration of the Republican governor and possible 2016 presidential candidate.
