You do know how franchises work, right?

Both articles you shown just show how little they know about franchises....

But just in case, let me enlighten you. Franchises basically lease the name of the company in question. For example: Godfather Pizza leases to a store owner their trademark in exchange of cash. People will come to that store owner's place of business because the franchise name is well known, but the store owner's responsibility is to maintain the brand-name of the franchise. Meaning that Godfather Pizza expects the store owner to keep their store clean, to abide by the standards of preparation of the food, to abide by the standards of customer service, and so on.

The store owners needed to update their buildings (which is not Godfather's responsibility). That is stated in any standard franchise contract between the owner and the franchise.

Think of it this way. I make well known widgets and I can sell them for a huge profit. You want to sell these widgets too, but you can't produce them the same way I can. We come to an agreement where I lease you my name to sell "Kingnobody's widgets" where I get a small portion of the profit you receive, and you sell my widgets. We also come into agreement that your standards of service must be the same as mine by creating a minimum standard agreement. You don't uphold your agreement, so why should I have to take over for you?

I could either stop allowing you to sell my widgets using my name (and pull all of your inventory) or I take over your store. I don't want to take over your store, that shouldn't have to be my only option. Why should I have to bail you out for not abiding to your side of the contract if I don't want to bail you out?

But just in case, let me enlighten you.
