Herman Cain and his 9-9-9 tax plan was not electible. I believe he even ran for the republican nomination previously as well and lost out to Bush Jr. as well as losing his bid for a senate seat. The guy never would have won.

Keep dreaming though.
We will never know though.

He was gaining traction just as those accusations started flying. I'm 100% sure that if he wasn't gaining popularity, we would never have even heard of these "harassments."

Herman Cain? The "laws should fit on a napkin" guy? You're high....
Never heard that comment from a public figure. You sure you are thinking of the right guy?

No. He did what M&A companies do.

He closed 200 offices, fired employees, and made it look appealing on paper to another firm who bought it. All within 6 months.

Exaggeration of what he actually said:

Herman Cain said:
Engage the people. Don’t try to pass a 2,700 page bill — and even they didn’t read it! You and I didn’t have time to read it. We’re too busy trying to live — send our kids to school. That’s why I am only going to allow small bills — three pages. You’ll have time to read that one over the dinner table. What does Herman Cain, President Cain talking about in this particular bill?

You keep jumping around man... first he owned the place now he's returning them to profitability... pick a point!

Yes, he did indeed return them to profitability and that's all he really did, return them to the status quo and in doing so he also shut down hundreds of locations and laid off thousands of workers. Pilsbury didn't even want the company after a couple of years and they sold it to Cain, senior management and investors in a leveraged buyout.

Don't get me wrong it's an achievement in itself turning a company around but it's not like he made the company into anything it wasn't before.

On principal alone, I agree with his philosophy. BUT... PotUS has no control over the length of bills and it's unbelievably naive to think that complex legislation could ever fit onto a 3 page bill.

To be fair in the business world you can't always keep every store open if they are underperforming. Sometimes you're just in a market that didn't work out for you and you have to pull out. It doesn't make sense to hemmorage money because "it's the right thing to do". He did do more than just that as well.

It would be interesting to know if they actually analyzed the markets or just shut down the ones that weren't bringing in enough dough! ha ha!

Like I said though. It was an achievement but just not as grand a one as some would like you to think or that he did it all by his lonesome.

If you don't want jokes from the 90's then don't roll out retreads from the 90s and ordain them the next President.

Hmmm...I seem to recall a deal struck on both ends this Fall about "not baiting" and many people on all sides having to turn the other cheek at the request of the mods. So...

Please excuse my JFK Jr. suggestion. I'm just sparing Nik the hassle.

Anyway, I should probably Google the part about whether his remains were found or not. Better yet, we could Bobbsey Twin this! You know what else we should look into while we're at it...

If they reopened the inquest, we may as well debunk my Beanie Baby and Elton John theory.

Let's just set Dodi Al Fayed (sp?) aside for a minute. You have to admit, they shuttled off that merchandise pretty quick! Like, seriously! It's kind of suspicious how Elton John banged out his tribute to Diana so quickly after her death! "Goodbye Norma-Jean" to "Goodbye England's Rose"? It was done in a flash! I never understood why MI5 or Scotland Yard overlooked this!

Have you seen the Beanie Baby guy?!? Looks creepy! He had to be in cahoots with Elton John! HAD TO BE!!!

If we're going to look into either of these, you can't wear the skirt! Or better yet, do wear the skirt! I bet you can get some serious intell from the Beanie Baby guy! Like I said, he just looks WEIRD! I bet he would dig it!

AND HOW DOES MOTHER THERESA FIT INTO ALL OF THIS?!?!?

I'm pretty sure there was an analysis done to determine the profitability of each store at the time and in the future. Don't expect them to give you the details though.

But what you said, I couldn't have said it better myself.

It was the franchises he closed down or let fail, depending on who you ask/read.

http://www.omaha.com/article/20111011/NEWS01/710119907/0
Quote:
Cain said he wouldn't spend advertising dollars on out-of-date restaurants with poor operations, so he told franchise holders to renovate their restaurants and bring operations up to date. "If they didn't make that investment, upgrade their operations, I didn't have to shut them down. They shut themselves down."

It was the pizza version of what Cain calls the "wagon speech" that his grandfather used to give family members when he was going into town: "Them that's going — get on the wagon. Them that ain't — get out of the way."

By 1988, the company had stabilized its sales and trimmed the number of restaurants from 725 to 520, cutting thousands of jobs but bringing back profits.

http://www.nytimes.com/1988/09/20/business/godfather-s-pizza-sold-by-pillsbury.html
Quote:
Mr. Cain said that while Godfather's 180 company-owned restaurants were profitable, many of its 420 franchisees were not, depressing results over all. The franchisees pay royalties to the parent.
....
Mr. Cain has trimmed the number of Godfather's restaurants by more than 250, settled lawsuits and taken steps to insure consistent quality. But the company continues to suffer from intense competition and from the failure of certain marketing promotions to achieve their desired results.

I would like to think he ran data analysis, but who knows. There are probably public documents/articles available but unless this has been used as a case study you probably won't find that information easily available.

There is also a difference between being an *** and running a profitable business. Sometimes things need to be cut, sold, trimmed, etc. However, I haven't read anywhere that there was no profit, just not as much as they would like to have. Specifically, the article above says sales and profits fell, but not that it wasn't profitable, just not as profitable as before. (Overall profitability, not individual stores as quoted above)

Edit: that looked confusing. Here is the quote i'm referring to
"When sales growth and profits fell, Pillsbury appointed Mr. Cain as president."

So, he returned it to profitability by muscling out franchises in order to minimize short term costs on the corporate level. So, long term profitability is still questionable.

That is the textbook definition of gutting a company.

Why? It's a great idea! One of the biggest problems with both parties is who they have to work with. Some of it is the process, for once they have clawed their way to the top of the party they're usually covered in blood.

That's why obama looked so good he hadn't DONE anything to ANYONE yet.
Hilarity has her gigantic enemies list with the "sevens". Mitt had his binder full of women. Newt is walking bomb. Biden is a punch line, Ted Cruz is a robot.... the short list for both parties looks like a police line up...
