A few days ago I migrated some data collection operations dealing with the AH to a VPS based in Tokyo, Japan. It increased data collection speeds 30 fold. This was great but I couldn't process the data fast enough so I manually slowed them down with sleep timers. One thing I forgot was the mysql bin log. It is used for replication. The log was growing at a larger rate to a point where it ate all my disk space which shut the entire site down. I purged some old bin log files. Instead of retaining the past 7 days, I changed to 3. The website will phone home (send me an email) when certain things get bad, I got it this morning.

I guess the tweet I sent was unnecessary. Lol
