Well, to be fair, and I don't have any problem with windower or windower users, but I really cannot wrap my mind around people that have lag issues with the official windowed mode. I've never once had an issue, across multiple builds, laptops and desktops, XP home, XP Pro, Vista Home Premium 32 bit, Vista Home Premium 64 bit, etc, ATI video cards, Nvidia Video cards...
So the lag issues with official windowed mode are either A)nitpicky ("OMG .03 seconds lag it's so broken!!!!!!") B)Substandard hardware ("What do you mean my P2 600 MHz with 128 MB of Ram can't run this at 30 FPS??!?!?!) or C)An excuse to use the plugins that come with it ("It has nothing to do with the unlimited macros, APradar, EXPwatch, Tparty...it's cause of the laaaaaaaaaaaaag)
Like I said, no issues with people that use it, but be honest about it, don't blame it on the lag, most people use it primarily for the plugins. Nobody wants to admit it, but they all know it's pretty much true...

My friend had some issues with FFXI in general consuming far more internets than was truly necessary, and I suppose the offical windower sucking *** is basically SE's software not getting along with specific hardware. I have the same issues, so I'm led to assume the Aikar windower simply is scripted and coded to be not only more user friendly and versital, but PC friendly in its ability to function with more hardware combinations. (more than the .03 seconds which I know was an exaggeration of your point) My biggest thing is the controller not working with FFXI out of focus. Windower lets me run around while reading wiki with firefox as focus. I do not use unlimited macros. I do not use Apradar. I can state for a fact that I will never us APradar. That crosses the line for me towards cheating. The only plugins I let run are the ones that are enabled by default when installing windower (Chatmon, expwatch, tparty). The distance one runs but I always forget it's up there, nor do I know the distance for actions. Until yesterday both the computers had all plugins disabled. I wanted to update them to the latest versions, and saw no harm in those plugins so I didn't bother. I know part of your point was you have no problem with people that use it. I'm just trying to point out that some people will have issues with built in windower. *shrug* This post was NOT supposed to be this long... Think it was on the Grind Your Gears page. Basically, any window that is over top of FFXI, goes wonky and you can't see ***. I never had an issue with lag, though.
