Are you trying to get us to play D&D now?

Well, no, the implication was I was trying to get your children to inadvertently hasten the coming of an Elder God, heralding the end of the world as we know it with the innocent childhood playing.

But, you know. If you wanna roll for initiative too, by all means; roll them bones.

Kids these days just don't know the simple pleasures of hiding in clothes racks to pop out and scare your mom, or have your mom freak out thinking she lost her kids.

shut up! that was the best! stupid kids.

I actually don't care much for a lot of horror movies or series, though I do sample from time to time at the suggestion of a friend of mine who is a horror movie fanatic.

Even a lot of the stuff that's "based on" Lovecraft's work ends up being really bad thanks to the need of horror movies to insert sexuality and gore. Dreams in the Witch House is just awful, for instance.

I tend to like psychological horror more than blood-and-guts stuff, and good psychological horror is really hard to find. The original The Wicker Man is easily the best horror movie ever, imo.

For my money, the best Lovecraft-related film out there is In the Mouth of Madness, which isn't actually a Lovecraft adaptation, but has several Lovecraft-inspired themes. It's a John Carpenter movie, stars Sam Neill, supporting act by the oft-underrated Jurgen Prochnow.

I just get a little giddy in October with all the horror that was basically "forbidden fruit" in the household while growing up. Fun season. I agree that psychological horrors and thrillers are much more satisfying. Interesting suggestions though. Love John Carpenter, BTW. I probably should see if 'In the Mouth of Madness' will be showing anytime soon to DVR it.

I finally got around to 'Manhunter'. I forgot who suggested that here.

EDIT: I love love LOVE the original 'The Thing'. That was the first horror that my dad let us watch since my mom was out and about one evening.

Candy bowl greeter with a witch hat most likely. Fun, huh?

EDIT: I still want to do my Sharon Tate idea on Halloween, but that might be crossing the line.

I'm a big John Carpenter fan in general. The Thing is outstanding. Escape from New York is a fun flick too. I still need to see Prince of Darkness.

The three movies (The Thing, In The Mouth of Madness, and Prince of Darkness) are considered to be a bit of a trifecta by the man himself, who refers to them as his "Apocalypse Trilogy".

In The Mouth of Madness is on Amazon Prime for free, and a few years ago I thought I remembered seeing it on Comcast's OnDemand. I don't think it's on Netflix. I bought it back when I worked at Walmart out of the $5 bin.

I've always kind of wanted to go as a Droog from A Clockwork Orange, but I'd probably just end up in my pirate digs, as I already own them and, well. I work well as a pirate.

The irony of police brutality/closed-mindedness not lost on those who have also seen the film, at least.

But I'm really not in the same danger around here.
