ok, I've been reading up on the recent phishing emails sent to players asking for their POL information. Today, you *** will learn something about how phishing emails are usually constructed. First off, I would like to stress that no bank/website/whatever that already has your personal information would ask for your information. No matter what *** situation they might think of, they will never ask for it.
Ok, I got this email through my hotmail account, it was in my junkmail folder. The sender is Sophia Johnson, I did a google search on here and it turns it she's a romance author(Sohpia Johnson). So I thought to myself, why the *** would a romance author be emailing me about a large sum of money in Africa that I have no ties to.
Here's the email...
"Greetings!
I have been waiting for you to contact me for your Confirmable
Bank Draft of $800,000.00 United States Dollars,but I did not hear from
you.Then I went and deposited the Draft with TNT Courier Service, West
Africa,I travelled out of the country for a 6 Months Course and I will not
come back till next year.
The only money you will send to the TNT Courier Service to delivery your
Draft direct to your postal Address in your country is($90.00 USD)only being
Security Keeping Fee of the Company so far.

The parts that are bold or italic are indicators that this is a phishing email. The biggest giveaway is the fact that they request your personal information. Also, money is a great incentive for anyone to willingly give their information to strangers, hence why the number is usually high. Bad grammar also plays a part, capitalized letters in weird places, run-on sentences, and just HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE statements. Lastly, the part that always cracks me up, is the end. This person doesn't even know you yet they use "Yours Faithfully,"
85% of phishing emails originate out of Africa, mostly from the West Coast. Internet laws are not enforced out there, so they can actually get away with this ***. So yeah, please don't be a *** idiot and actually pay attention to what emails you respond to.
